And you find yourself in the port town of Meridia. It's a smaller town, with a few inns, some warehouses, the Govoneror's Mansion, and a large central market. Tal leans over the railing and points out over the city. I'll go set up the meeting then, eh?

"That sounds fantastic. I think I'll browse the markets. Meet back here in a few hours."

Edward practically springs off the deck onto the wharf, glad to be off of the rocking vessel.

Going to gather information about local specialty goods. Non-perishables, preferably. Edward will to travel with a purse of about 200 gold and buy samples of anything that looks particularly noteworthy.

The local speciality is citris fruits, unfortunatly perishable, but you do spot some textiles out for sale at 3 gold per square yard.

"Thanks, boys. Leave 'em there." Edward directs the hired help to leave the crates on the pier where the ship's men can easily collect them.

Tal doesn't seem to have returned yet, which gives Edward more time to kill.

Guess I'll go see if I can get an audience with the governor. Maybe he'd be willing to invest a little capital in our expedition. At the very least, he might need mail carried to another port, and it doesn't hurt to get on good terms with the local leadership.

Menchi eats a small lunch on the ship, his feet dangling off of the boom as he leaned sideways on an overtightened sail. He finishes, grabs his atlas and maps, and heads to the local bookstore or library.
He flipped open his atlas and looked up the obsidians, making sure to flip to any additional pages mentioned, and scanned the tome for anything else that might help. Whenever something is mentioned that he dosen't understand or can't remember, he turns to the other books around him.

Taking twenty on a knowledge(geography) check with the help of a local library. Anything up to DC 30 in a PM, if you will....?

Salmaan disembarks with slight discomfort, she missed the roll of the deck and there were too many tall folks about. She decides to scan the harbor for any crow ships.

Edward dusts himself off and heads for some of the port's upscale taverns.

Edward is going to introduce himself to several different bartenders as a representative for Wagner and Gamble breweries. He'll inform them that he's conducting a contest on behalf of Wagner and Gamble. Entrants need only to submit a single keg of any drink that they've brewed. The drinks will then be carefully taste-tested and the winning bartender will receive a lucrative contract with Wagner and Gamble.

Thaddeus ventures forth looking through the port for any shops to replenish his spell components and possibly shoppping for new spells.

Edward: You get two casks of fine beer.

Salmaan: Tal hadn't come back yet.

Thaddeus: It's not a very magical place. Some of the stores have places where you can top up, but you find no spells for sale.

Salmaan sighs and goes off to search for a fletcher.

There is indeed a fletcher in town. She is a big jolly women with various bow, crossbows, arrows, and bolts on the walls. Hi 'dere. What ken I getcha?

Edward watches proudly as the second barrel is carried aboard the ship. He hadn't expected the grift to go nearly that well.

Tal is still missing, so with a quick mental pat on the back, Edward scruffs up his clothing, splashes a few drops of seawater around his neck, and begins looking for the kind of dockside tavern that sailors usually frequent.

Edward's going to try and get a bit more information from the crews of other vessels what some of the nearby ports are in need of. He's also going to attempt to get in touch with the local smugglers.

Edward: You see no sign of Tal, but you do find some nice sailors getting drunk and gambling who open up very quickly. To the south the elves are looking for food stuffs and dye, to the north lumber and ores are sell well, as the Kingdom prepares for another bout of war with the Empire. No news on the smuggler's ring.

Thaddeas: The Braided Belle seems about right to you.

Thaddeus enters The Braided Belle and checks out the situation. He'll wait for a bit to let the atmosphere sink in before ordering along the lines of what is recomended.

"Just need to restock my quiver," Salmaan says. She pulls one of her darkwood arrows out and puts it on the counter. ?Something along the lines of this. Silver or cold iron if you have it too."

Edward heads back to the ship again, this time with a slight sway to his steps. Whatever dockside ale lacks in rich, full-bodied flavor it makes up for in mule-kicks to your sobriety.
