    Suddenly snapping into consciousness at the sudden heaving off of his back by Mortimus, Arturo is a little taken aback by the hostility of the barmaid.

    "Ah, put away yer coins aweh m' Drow friend. I'm th' one hoo tarnished 'er window, an' I'll be th' one tuh pay fer it." he manages to spit out, tossing a handful of coins at the woman, probably about nine gold's worth all together.

    "An' keep th' change, wench." He finishes, drunkenly turning towards the door.

    The barmaid quickly scoops up the gold before anyone can correct the amount and storms off to the bar again. Everyone, except for Arturo since his head is still spinning, hears a collective groan from the patrons who evidently were hoping for a show.

    Gabe is rather surprised that they are using halfling language as a code, but quickly decides to go along with it. trying to hide his anxiety, and speaking mostly to Garome in an attempt to make it seem less unusual, he quietly says "Ik hoorde een stem, vermeldden zij het wachten tot wij weggingen. Ik hoorde de zelfde stem vroeger, één het menselijke spreken met nog eens twee wie een beetje teveel aandacht besteedden."

    Frowning as the others speak some language he doesn't understand. Mortimus looks around for any unwelcome eavesdroppers.

    If we are to check out your apartment, then let us be quick about it. I don't want to stand watch over Arturo too long.

    With a dignified grace, he turns around and continues eyeing the crowd, as he goes to Arturo to make sure no more stunts happened.

    After a few fruitless attempts at joining in the conversation by spouting Saughin and using Drow Sign Language, he nods towards the door.

    "I do not like the direction that this is headed."

    "It takes less effort to react than to sniff out the source of a few shady characters. Look around yourself! Where do you think we are? Were you not expecting shady types?"

    "I will take the initiative and head to the carriage. If I miss something, so be it; it will not matter in the long run."


    Zalivane steps out the door, pushing it aside with a stiff arm. He places his fingers in an o-shaped position and whistles through them.

    "Pex! Come! Follow!"

    As Zalivane sends out his whistle call a shadowy blot descends from a broken window on the adjacent building. To everyone immediately outside of the Manky Goblin sees the blot resolves into a chittering scorpion as big as a mastiff that clacks it's mandible in excitement at Zalivanes call.

    Aelton gawks at it for a moment before grinning.

    "Fantastic, a Xen Drik scorpion. I'd love to inspect it but if you want to trailblaze the way to the carriage I left the driver two blocks north and another block east."

    Pex siddles around the beggars clumped outside the tavern and hisses at Zalivane.

    At the sight of the large scorpion, Arturo loses his mind, let's out a childish yelp, and jumps back a step. Drawing his rapier, he yells at the horror in a mix of languages slurred together with alcohol. Quickly realizing the thing is in cohorts with the Drow, he relaxes, addressing any jokes with, "Well when that thing turns on us, you'll want me to be so quick to draw!"

    Turning to Arturo, he slowly says, "He follows me around. Do not fear him. If he turns on anyone, it will most likely be me. Such is life."

    Zalivane begins walking ahead of the group, beginning to head two blocks north.
    He does spend time to peer up towards the higher towers when he has a good view, and stare down at the lower wards when such vistas are available.

    Other than that, he makes no suspicious movements and walks casually.

    Whatever conflict arises, Gab would rather not face it alone, and he does want this job. Therefore, despite thinking that the crouds of the bar could offer hom protection and a possible escape route, he follows the rest of the group out into the streets. Even so, he is still insecure about the possibility of a conflict, and constantly looks behind him to see if they're being followed.

    Mortimus has Arturo under one arm, and continues to help drag/carry him along. Not that they would get far even with him sober he thought. The man drank like a machine, but his liver was quite weak.

    Mortimus smiles inspite of himself. He can't help but laughing how much in common they have. Keeping silent, he continues to watch the alleys, but doubts anyone would be so brave as to attack such a large group.

    He casually listens to the pair's conversation in front of him. Hearing bits and pieces, and not really paying attention.

    As Gabe and Zalivane walk ahead of the group with Pex the halfling chances to look back and see the three men exit the tavern and quite obviously begin to follow the party at a distance of about a block (80 feet).

    There are a few people on the street at this time, but most duck into taverns along the way and ignore your group. Gabe, Zalivane and Pex are about a half block away from the turn to take them east and the rest of the group is just steps behind them. The area is rife with alleys and you all have to step carefully to avoid the slippery patches of much in the streets.
