Alviss frowned through his digital representation. He figured as much, but it had been worth mentioning at least. "Well anyway... I'm not the best for detailed planning, everything gets confused in my head and it comes out wrong... But I'll try to keep you aware of what I can do so you can plan accordingly." He hesitated, thinking. "I can get myself on the roof without need for an airdrop."

"Meade knew the danger of attacking fortified positions in the American Civil War. The first one, the one where the North won. Smacking everyone around is a pretty foolish idea when we don't know how many people are even there on the fourth floor. And I can't stop the Star if you're noisy. Someone will just hear the violence and call Lone Star. I can't stop every call to Lone Star without hacking the city emergency grid, and that's well, hard. And it's also stupid."

"I don't think anyone believes it is wise to turn this into a gun battle. But to avoid that while doing the mission requires detail intel that we just don't have."

The dwarf pulls up some more data, "Here is what we do know. The area in question is about 60 feet wide by 150 feet long. It has at least four guards externally." He then pulls up the drones fried report. "This is the best the drone could do... It looks like there is 8 'somethings' in that area."

"Now I could try sending in another drone... However anyplace that has an EM Pulse is not going to be safe for electronics."

"As for a plan with what we have currently... What do we think of the idea of silent attacks? You guys go in as guards, doctors, whatever doing a patient transfer or whatever. You hit the fourth floor and deal with the guards quickly and quietly. Grab the target, tranq him if needs be and leave. If its done covertly enough the main asylum doesn't even blink. If it does blink well Ciel can be in that system giving us the edge." It was a really rough outline of a plan with lots of details needing to be worked out, but it was something.

A point. I had a look at the place, and there were no obvious wards on the exterior. I've also got Zike here as protection. Astral scouting should be workable.

Alviss raised a hand. "I can take care of your body for you. I've got a nest in an abandoned building near the asylum, you'll be safe and close from there."

It would probably be best if we try this silently....less dangerous...I've seen some plans go wrong before, and they're not pretty. but, if we can't get him out quietly....hehehehe, there's gonna be a big 'ol fight for all of us!

"Well, in that matter we are in luck. We can disguise those who want to be disguised as guards, and if someone is sneaky but didn't take acting classes, as long as you avoid human guards, I'll take care of any security cameras. It's child's play to just loop the feeds and spoof the date/time. As far as keeping anyone from talking, I've got a plan for that too, although it'll put someone out of communication. Does anyone have a jammer? Or if not, a commlink that they don't mind be improvising as a jammer? The higher it can transmit the better. It won't damage it, but I can make you a rolling tapestry of static. That should stop anyone on the fourth floor from sending any signals out of there. Isolated networks have flaws too."

Ciel rolled her head. "So, if we decide to neutralize the fourth floor and extract the target, I'll see about taking care of the extraction. I'll move personnel and spoof security feeds again. That stuff isn't hard at all. Do we want to remove him in one of their ambulances, blow it up, and then dump it in the nearest body of water? Or take one of your cars?" She gestures at Gres.

Ok. Two limiters on astral scouting

Firstly, I can only remain outside my body for four hours. If I go over that, my spirit will... die.

He looks nervous, but set, as he continues.

Secondly, it is traceable, even when I leave the astral. It'll take some time, but the trail can be followed. I was actually thinking of scouting from my house, I've got wards up to stop me being traced. And if they have some sort of alarm inside, and they could, they could beef up security because of my meddling.

Ok. Thoughts now, on our potential plan?

Aviss shrugs at Aki's final query. "Like I said, I'm not a planner."

"I can go with whatever works best with our cover story. If things go well then I'd assume we'd go with the local ambulances to keep up the cover. Should we be so lucky then I don't think I will have alot to do. Can't really sneak a combat drone into the building and they are not quiet when working."

"However should things go seriously south. Ciel will cover the team as best she can on the inside, and I'll have you on the outside. And by cover you I mean four combat drones raining explosive rounds from the sky, an armored van, and a fully stocked medkit." At the last bit he passes a quick glance to Ciel.

"I like the sneaky stuff. If you give me one day, I'll have everything falsified and ready for the undercover infiltration. I'll also map out security routes so anyone who wants to sneak in, like our planophobic friend here." Ciel reaches her virtual hand and places it on Alviss's shoulder, rubbing down his arm and taking it back before she reached his elbow. Her hand, since both were in VR, actually felt smooth and real, a delicate feminine hand. "Hehe, can be better prepared for the human element. And if it's technology based, well, I'll take care of it. Trust me, I'm a professional. We'll get this done with no fuss."

Ciel listens to Gres. "If there's an emergency, I'll use the system's interior defenses against the security team and destroy any records that we were ever there. I'll also play with the guards that rely on their smartlinks by messing with their IFF's and flooding their commlinks with male enhancement ads. That'll make them significantly less organized and talented."

At Ciel's touch, the red eyes narrowed to slits, and his shadow spread over his corner of the room a little more. "I am equipped to fill the role of first Blade in, firearm close support, and sniper Overwatch, wherever you put me." He said... Or that's what everyone else heard. To Ciel, a whispered undertone sounding of shadows and moonlight was also audible, but any words behind it were lost...

If you can get in and mess with 'em, it'll make it all the easier....Of course we need to get in first.
Cete pulls out his commlink Here, you can use this for the jammer, it's not the most powerful, but..meh, I don't really need it...or want it that badly....

Ciel frowns as she looks over the diagnostics. "That's not going to jam much of anything. If their comms have a greater signal radius, it'll overcome the jamming. Maybe I'll just hack into one of their standard issue comms and use it as a jammer. Thanks anyway, though. You're a dear for the offer."

Luke frowns when Gres mentions they might be shot on sight. "Even if they were authorized to shoot anyone there without a pass, I doubt they'd be so quick to fire on civilians and security guards," he says, hopeful that he's right, "of course... these are corporate soldiers we're dealing with, I guess?"

At the question for a long-range comm, he's also at a loss. "Mine is very standard, so it won't do you any good, I'm afraid," he appologizes to Ciel. "Too bad, really... I would've been glad to get rid of this headache-device."

"Waiting a day is fine with me," Luke states, "we may uncover something important in that day... like the patient's diagnostics.
"If you really don't trust the guys on the fourth floor, Mr. Gres*, then I have a silencer for my assault rifle. Now, here's the flies in the ointment: We can't have silencers attached as we go through, since they're only legal to specific people we can't impersonate--and they wouldn't fit in with an asylum, anyway. So, we'll have to attach the silencers when we get there, hoping no one notices us--not so good if we want to do this in a hurry, either. Assuming we do get them on unseen, our only problem then is to take out all the guards at once before they let off a few un-silenced bullets. Once we start firing, we can't stop firing till they're dead... no hope of convincing them we're friends after we shoot, in other words. If they do fire a few bullets or call someone on the radio, we might be met with reinforcements from Lone Star on our way out, or just be distracted by security guards doing their job.
"In the end, I guess it depends... Is it worse to risk getting shot by the guys on the fourth floor, or to risk the whole operation going sour if we don't kill them right? I hope you guys can think of a better plan, 'cuz' I'm stumped for the moment."

*: I don't know what name you picked, so replace Gres with whatever name you gave, assuming you gave a different name.

"There is no safe bet here. I can do what I can, but since those guys are off the network, I'm only going to know their positions while they're within view of the interior security. I'm going to get you guys patrol patterns so you can have a schedule, and unless there are significant deviations, we can minimize the risk. But yes, you'll have to ambush them. If they were on the net I could jam their smartgun systems which would've given you a few seconds, but they're not. However, those guys are better equipped. I'd say you should sneak your silencers in, affix them in the stairwell, and take them out. They'll be harder to dig out if they're entrenched, so given a choice, I'd say if the cover had to be blown anywhere, it'd be there, where they can't transmit for help."

Ciel's avatar shrugs. "If you think you can bluff your way past those guards, then try it. But there's no records or procedures in the network, so you'd be doing it blind unless you captured and interrogated one."

We need to find out if the fething guards carry stadardized arms... the orc growls at the thought of getting shot....bad memories.

I need to know if I walk in there with a pistol, I'm not going to get a face-full of lead b'fore I can even draw...If they all have the same guns, then we're gonna stick out like a sore street-doc in a club of awakened's...

Hearing Lucas's opinon on his thoughts about the guards on the fourth floor, Gres responds. "Its all about managing expectations. We know nothing about these guards, how they are set up, or what their orders are. Therefore if we assume they will shoot on sight, and they don't... Well that is a pleasant surprise. However if we plan for and assume that we will be able to speak to them first, and instead they shoot on sight... That makes for a very bad night."

"I already know what arms the guys carry. See, it's all in the picture here." Ciel giggled and sent the picture she took from the security camera of the guards to Ceter commlink.

"The way I see it, we either have to drop those guards before they know what hit them, make them think we belong, or distract them. If you walk in there expecting for them to shoot, I guarantee at least one will pick up on your state of paranoia."

If they genuinely haven't got any astral security... well, Zike here's good at fighting, and we'd have one hell of an ambush. I'll have to summon him again if we don't move tonight, but there are worse things...

"You know...I do know someone who is really good at talking to people and acting. I think she might be perfect to get us past the guards. And she's so CUTE! We can get her a sexy doctor's outfit and she'll just say she's checking on one of the detainees. They'll be so busy staring at her butt that they'll let her pass. She could ask one of them to escort her and the security team dispatched to watch her, since they have two different types of security, naturally. You guys can kill that one quickly and quietly, and then we've reduced their numbers to where it'll be easier to take them out by surprise. Or, if the guy is actually sane enough, we can beat up the security guy and make one of you act as the high-threat security team and just walk her back. Then, a couple minutes later, say you need to use the bathroom and duck out. You'll be gone before anyone even notices you!"

Ciel giggled. "It's an idea, isn't it?"

Lucas Rathford.

Lucas pulls out a pencil and chews on it. This helped him to think... "Too bad there isn't such a thing as a silenced-grenade," he murmured as he considered how they'd best take out the guards. "Since it's too risky trying to act friendly with the special-guards, I guess the only thing we can do is sneak in as security, attach silencers before entering the guarded room, and try our best to kill or wound them until they're no threat. Should bullets other than ours be fired, Aki may need to release his... special friend, as a distraction for the Lone Star units. Guess we don't really want to use something so... 'heavy' as a spirit for a few grunts when the big boys may come in, but if we have to use him early we have to, no argument. Once we get the patient out -- or ourselves out if the job is too much -- then we take either a ambulance of Gres' car. The former if we leave quiet-like and the latter if we're running with the devil on our heels--assuming that is the best way to do things in that retrospect.
"A few matters remain as to the details of the plan: One) We need to work out who is going in, and who is supporting us from outside. With me: Shooting people before they shoot me is my best suite, and I can talk the talk to an extent, so I'm probably in by default. Alviss: So far, I haven't seen any reason to have a sniper watching the place--you were all having trouble with seeing on the inside, right? As for first-blade in, I find if you have the choice between shooting someone with a silenced pistol, or stabbing them in the heart, the former action still ends up better. So... yeah, if you and no one else objects, I vote that you come in with us as firearm close-support. I can also get onto the roof, if need be. Cete: I don't recall you stating your skill directly... but I have a feeling it includes, 'shoot the other guy before he shoots you.' If I'm right with that, I think you should come with us as another security guard. Gbemiso--: ..... She's no longer with us, is she? Well, that's just too bad... we really could've used a Face. Never mind that, though, there's little chance of finding another before the job. Aki: While you probably aren't a marksman, being able throw the enemy out a window, with your mind, makes you a valuable combatant--" He grins broadly and chuckles, knowing it was likely a great exaggeration, "--So, I think you should come with us, and perhaps heal a gunshot wound or so. Gres: My assumption is that you'll operate best and be most comfortable in your car, controlling your drones. That right? Supposing that's the case, you should do exactly that and be ready to swing in a drone to scout for us from the ceiling--or one of the heavier ones to give us some suppressing fire on the fourth floor, should we be well-discovered enough that their 'noisy behaviour' doesn't matter to badly. Ciel: While I'd appreciate getting to know you, I don't guess being shot is your idea of a fun date? You can keep us covered via the matrix with anything you're capable of protecting us from. Scrambling the guards' communications and devices, keeping calls to Lone Star from getting through, messing with cameras, and starting power out--all the stuff we've already been through, basically.
"Two) What type of weapons are these guards carrying? Can't imagine anything too heavy... That may be good in the direction of them shooting at us, but it's bad in the fact we're probably going to have to be shooting them--not to mention we'll be shooting at the guys with the bigger guns. If at all possible, we need to smuggle in our more-advanced weapons. Perhaps one of us should be disguised as a patient on a hospital trolley? Not sure what the place has in that respect.
"Three) Just finer details, like: What time do we go into the place, along with what date. Which entrance do we go through assuming there is more than one. Assuming we should turn up in an ambulance, then how do we get one. If one of us is going to disguise as a patient on the way in, who. There's probably some other stuff, but that's all I have on my mind for moment.
"So... you think this plan will do, with some touching up? Best I got for the moment."

After hearing Ciel's comment about there being a new Face: "That's great! Not sure why our previous one decided to bail out... guess she thought it was a bit too risky for her taste," his face shows obvious concern as the idea of murdering security guards pops up... "....I--We, that is... wouldn't it cause us more trouble if random security guards are getting killed off because they might become a nuisance? I mean, I'm all for getting the job done however it needs to be... ubt couldn't we stun the guard and tie him up or something? I got a stun-baton perfect for that kind of thing."

"I don't care what you do to him, but they'll notice if there's one extra high-threat security guard, so shoot him, stun him and attach him to the patient's biomonitor so they still think there's a breathing human being there, I don't really care."

Ciel has her avatar levitate while laying on her stomach, as if she were a teenage girl on her bed. With one hand, she idly pointed to the schematics, causing a small red point as an active trace going through.

"I think it would be easier to lie to the guards than to knock them all out silently, but if that's what you guys want to do. I think too many guards spoils the illusion. If we use my friend Eve and she poses as a doctor to trick the other security guards, we can't have too many people assigned as her security team before someone wonders why they never heard of such a bigwig. I'd say bring Lucas and Cete, one being the nice-looking cutie bodyguard and one being the grr-scary ork who can tear your arms off bodyguard." As she did this, her avatar went to Lucas and through her arms around his neck from behind in a familiar hug, and with Ceter, she did much the same but made a growling noise that sounded like a seven-year old girl playing monster. Aki should stay in Gres's car and do the magic ghostie-thing. That way, we don't have to worry about transporting him and he still looks like a normal magic bodyguard. I'm not sure how that would affect your magic, but I know you'll still be able to affect things you can see. Alviss, you can either come with them or sneak in on your own from the top floor to flank the high-threat guys at another angle. I don't want to isolate you, but cutting off an escape route will help. Oh! Aki!" Ciel's avatar instantly went up in his face, her virtual nose almost touching his decidely real one, her cute-framed glasses looking like they were going to fall off. "Do you have a sleep spell that can hit all of them at once? Or do you have a silence spell?"

Hmm... Not really. Aki smiles, though only a little.

Most of my spells hit one target. For bigger fights... well, that's what I like spirits for. And getting new spells takes time.

I'll agree with the idea of me staying in Gres' transport. I can keep an eye out astrally, and if needed I can head back to my own body. I'm actually a passable shot with a pistol, and can drive Ika pretty well. Could be a nice distraction if we need a getaway.

And a bike heading at 200mph tends to make even quite large groups scatter.

"I don't mind working alone..." Alviss comments. "Also, I havn't gotten a chance to replace my silencer since I fried the last one. Turns out getting a silencer wet and then immediately pulling the trigger isn't the best idea ever... Different story." His avatar shrugs. "I'll need a fence before the run."

The dwarf nods as Lucas gives him the role he had already picked out for himself. "For internal scouting I have several small drones that can be hidden on a person and carried in. For use as needed. And I can redeploy some to try sneaking back in. As for fire support the fastest way in would be through a window. The shutters seem pretty secure so that might take a bit."

"Okay, I'm going to go and contact Eve and see if she wants to play dress up and lie. I know she will. It's a girl pasttime! We learn it in our secret girl schools!" Ciel giggled, stroking Lucas's real hair with her imaginary hand and wishing he was in the Matrix so she could mess with his avatar. Alviss was so angry today that he was no fun.

Ciel opens up a commchannel to her friend Eve.

Ciel's avatar is that of a young twenty-something with blonde hair under a trendy hat. She is wearing a red-and-black two-tiered skirt, three-inch high-heeled boots, and a long jacket that preserves modesty but leaves her stomach and the middle of her chest exposed to the world.

"Evey, Evey, Evey! I have some friends who are looking to do an extraction job, and our previous facegirl is MIA. Do you want to play with us for 5 grand? Some of the boys there are really cute!"

Cete growls at the music...he didn't like the awakened scene. Not one bit. Gragh! Whatever we're going to do, let's decide quickly, or else I might not make it out of this place sane!

Eve had just gotten out of the shower when she got Ciel's call. She walked over to the nightstnd where her retro-styled commlink sat and picked it up. Flipping the cellphone-commlink open, she saw a familiar avatar. Deciding it would be easier to talk with her hands free, she connected the wireless subvocalizer and her cyber eyes to the commlink.

Ciel, I haven't heard from you in a while. How's my favorite net-buddy doing? Responded Eve with a smile. An extraction...you know I like to work alone, Ciel.

Eve stopped for a second to think. Money wasn't always constant and she couldn't leave this lifestyle behind. Plus, the last bioware binge she went on nearly dried her out. If she ever planned to maintain her lifestyle and her addiction, she would need to make more nuyen. And to make more money, she would need to take on bigger jobs. And to take on bigger jobs, she would need to start working with others.

But for you dear, you can count me in.
