I have to say, reading Gaiman's American Gods is so much more entertaining when you're actually from Illinois...

I couldn't help but smile when the raven said to go to Kay-ro...

I don't think that there is. I tried to do that before and was unable to do it using gmail.

It's just so great that he actually worked in one of Illinois' biggest jokes:

Also, later on in the book:

Future Love Intrest: "Whats your name?"

    Protagnist: "David."

Future Love interest: (Pointing to Protagonist's injured sqaud mate, whom she is about to apply firt aid to) "And what is his name?"

    *sigh*
I need to read American Gods; I think the college has it though so it's all good. I might have read it Saturday but I was distracted by a new Discworld book: The Folklore of the Discworld and I love it. It's a sort of explanation on many of the myths and folklore of the Disc but also where it came from. So the gods are actually spoken of as if they stole some aspect of themselves from earth.
    I love that book.
Then I went hunting for I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak in Smiths' but I couldn't find a copy so I was left feeling miffed. I hall have to wait for Christmas now.

    Anything else?

When I saw the Boom De Yada comic on xkcd, I imagined it as a much grittier tribal type of sound.

BOOM de yada yada. BOOM de yada yada.

I then heard the actual version, and was only slightly disappointed.

Hey, I got a random question for anyone out there. Has anyone here read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman? Also, have you played the song Elephant Bones on Guitar hero 2? The reason these are related, is because there is a quote in the loading screen for the song, that I believe to be taken, and slighly changed, from Good Omens. It ends with the phrase "That handsome devil".

    @v Thanks. What a coinky-dink

Today was an absolutely terrible day.

    Spoiler
    Show
I have a song to write for music which I have started three times and given up on three times. I just don't like anything I'm writing at the moment. I have until next Wednesday, but my only chance to write the song will be before and after school. I don't have the music program at home, the demo version cannot save, and I can't afford the program.
This is especially frustrating because I consider myself fairly musical and I'm a fairly good composer. It's the damn lyrics that are tripping me up, though. The lyrics and the tune refuse to go together, and when stuff refuses to go together quickly, I decide I don't like it and have to start again.
Half of me is saying "Dude, it's a freaking assessment for a subject that you'll never pursue inside of school. Why bother?" and my proud, perfectionist side is saying "But I want to do it right! I just want to have it perfect!" And then the other half ((yeah, I have three halves)) is saying "Well I can't be bothered but I'm going to waste a lot of time moaning about it, procrastinating, and getting distr---ooh, there's a bird!"

Also, Curly, I have converted my mum to The Book Thief. Now you have mentioned it, I must try find more books by Markus Zusak...

My major goal is to get back into the gym at work, especially since I generally have absolutely nothing to do at least half the day (this upcoming week it's looking like afternoons). The trouble is I hurt my foot and it took several months to heal, so I don't have anywhere near the endurance I had at the start of the year. Also, the lack of exercise the past while has made me feel extremely lazy. And since none of my other habits changed, I put on probably 30-40 pounds.

But yeah, number 2 is my huge problem. I'd rather just not hand in an assignment that I didn't have the time to do properly. If I hand in something half-baked, I kinda feel...
