Scio was heading to the bridge when he saw the jedi move towards the cargo bay, and Marcus, cheerfull looking as always following behind. Scio arched an eyebrow at the passing marcus, shrugged, then followed them, saying to Marcus; "This is bound to be interesting, May i ask what it is you two lovebirds are doing?"

[Ascension]

Just before running into Scio, Marcus makes another stop by his cabin to retrieve his ball which has retroactively been in his possession this entire time and which I hope doesn't cost too much for him to afford.

When he hears Scio's comment a look of horror momentarily crosses his face, but he laughs it away.

"This isn't love, it's war. Our Jedi matron there challenged me to a game of grav-ball in the cargo bay. Spacer rules. I'm about to show her that a bunch of mystical mumbo-jumbo doesn't make you a g-ball champ."

He drops his voice and adds, "Besides, she's waaaaay too old for me..."

While we're talking retcons, I never gave Marcus... or rather, Soranus... a home planet, so we'll just say Jind's assumption is correct. He is a Corellian.

Scio threw back his head and luaghed, a hearty, full, joyous sound."This is bound to be amazing, do you mind if i watch?

[Ascension]

"Sure, come along, we'll make it an event."

Marcus shifts the game ball to one hand and produces a significantly more sinister "ball" from his bandolier.

"I'll wager a frag grenade she doesn't stand a chance."

"Well i don't have any grenades to bet with, but i do have a medpack or too i could spare, some, credits maybe?" Scio said, smiling as he looked at the jedi in front of them. Somethings up. This jedi is deifintly NOT the type to be firvolous or like simple games. She's bound to be up to something

[Ascension]

"Credits will do fine. I'm no Outer Rim junk dealer."

Galen hands over the grenade.

"Here, hold on to the pot whilst I win it back from you."

As the crew passes by the medical bay, Marcus raps on the door.

"Hey, slightly scary doctor lady, wanna come see me school your Master in the fine art of grav-ball? Everybody else is gonna be there!"

Scio smiled as he looked over the grenade in his hand, then walked over to the Jedi master, and spoke quitely to her "Alright Jedi, what are you doing now? Jedi like yourself dont distract themselves from being self-righteous without a good reason. What is it?"

Calith remains quiet and distant, examining all their exchanges impassively. Hell, I don't even know what grav-ball is, but I can imagine it involves mobility that I don't have. Let's grab a chair and see if our young boy becomes humbled. Reaching into his jacket, he pulls out a small stick and starts chewing on it; something he's done since a boy. There's nothing special about it...it's just a stick, but it keeps his mind occupied by chewing on one end of it.

The woman looks Scio over impassively. "Teaching a lesson. You may watch, too." If his comment angered her, she doesn't show.

In the cargo bay, she waits, her arms crossed over her chest, until the others arrive.

Not waiting for Caewil's response, Marcus heads on into the cargo bay.

"Now I don't know what you know about grav-ball," he says to the collected audience, "but spacer-rules grav-ball is pretty simple. No fancy repulsor stick or hover boots, no wimp-padding, just a ball, a bay with no art-grav, and a couple of scoring hoops... oh, right, goals... goals... Does anyone have anything we could use?

Unhooking the clasp, Calith takes off his utility belt. "In a nul-grav environment, this should suffice for one. Just don't take anything otu of it."

Caewil

Caewil's slightly apprehensive voice can be heard behind the durasteel door of the medbay. "Are you sure... What, everyone?" she asks. A few clanging footsteps later and the door hisses open pneumatically. "Sorry. I was just sterilising the room." she says before realising she's talking to herself.

She walks forward a few steps toward the cargo bay then turns and rushes back into the medbay, returning with a roll of bandages. She looks at them for a second, mutters to herself and then walks back again to put them back.

OOC: Sorry, I haven't been able to access this forum the last few days. The computer could access most other sites just fine but kept stalling when I tried to get here (and Gamespot and Scary Go Round, for some reason)

"That will do fine, friend. Improvisation in the finest spacer tradition."

Marcus throws the ball at Master Nakre.

"Here, you start us off. Calith, get ready to toss your belt when I shut off the gravity. Is everybody ready for weightlessness?"

Marcus's finger hovers over the grav controls I'll assume are conveniently located beside the entrance.

"Here... We... Go!"

Calith smiles some. "I do appreciate your concern. YOu may not want to put those away; I have a feeling that someone is going to wind up injured." Won't be me, though. I'll see to that! Being able to manipulate objects very well has it's perks, after all...

Once gravity has ceased within the hold, he tosses the belt across the room gently so that it spins. As he watches it veer toward a wall, he contemplates the ethics of manipulating the hoop...and how much control over this game he now has. Yes...help them to kill each other. Both will cause you headaches down the road; why not solve it all with a little well placed violence? You wouldn't even have to do anything, really...just move their hoop at the last second...

NO! I will not sink to that level. There will be no time for anything of that nature. Group survival hinges on cohesion. Lesson number one from the wars.

The Arkanian lifts her hand and stops the ball in midair, where it hovers. "It would not be fair if you just gave me headstart", she admonishes Marcus. Her pale face seems just a tiny bit flushed, as if she is actually excited to hand him his backside. "I will let go, as soon as you turn the gravity off. And I suppose you will insist on a 'No Force' rule, right?"

One of her eyebrows rises mockingly, as if she is aware of an amusing joke that Marcus doesn't know.

[Ascension]

"No Force? Pshaw. Don't y'all say 'it penetrates and surrounds all living things' or something like that? As soon as I say 'No Force' you'll laugh and remind me that I'm a living thing so I can't play either or something like that. Nah, go ahead and use your so-called 'Force.' You'll need it to keep up, grandma."

He flicks off the gravity.

"THE GAME IS AFOOT!"

He kicks off the closed hatch behind him, sending him hurtling towards his Arkanian opponent. Oh, and the ball. But mostly the Jedi.

How are we going to handle this? Dexterity checks? Mock combat?

Oh, more unused ideas:

• I shot a man in grav-ball, just to watch him die.
• You know why there's no gravity in deep space? It's Chuck Norris's grav-ball court. He uses planets for balls and suns for goals.
• The thermal exhaust port on the Death Star was actually installed so the crew could play spacer-rules grav-ball in the trench. That idea didn't turn out so well.

Well, I like the mock combat idea. With Initiative and Attack rolls to get the ball into the goal. Or you can attack the 'opponent' and push him away. We'll just make the rest up as we go.

Anticipation on her face, the Jedi Master just hovers there and waits for Marcus...

It is with annoyance that I finally realize that the Bantha Rush feat has replaced the Bull Rush special attack entirely. I was going to attempt to knock back Master Nakre, but I can't. Instead I guess I'll just Charge the ball and, since Charging is a standard action now and the ball won't be making attacks of opportunity, I'll keep floating more or less towards Nakre after the charge.

In midair he punches the floating ball, attempting to move it towards the goal.

When I decided not to take Weapon Finesse I wasn't counting on getting myself into a zero-g melee.

Ok, I've decided not to withhold her modifiers from you - probably you can figure out a great deal about her, but as you are not supposed to fight her and as she will not steal your thunder, I hope you won't hate me, because she is... what she is.

Marcus stares dumbfounded as the Jedi effortlessly scores.

"You know that part where I said you could use the Force?" Marcus asks, "Forget that."

Practically as soon as he's said that he changes tracks as he realizes he can play this to advantage.

"Wait, actually, forget what I just said about forgetting what I said before... because that's my point. I was the last one to touch the ball, so..."

He grins again.

"Feel free to keep using The Force as long as it keeps scoring me points."

All the time he's saying this he keeps drifting in the Jedi's direction.

"Really?" Suddenly, an invisible hand grips his ankle, hard enough to bruise. Her outstretched fingers tighten, before she flips him over. "You should have stayed home, Corellian. It's not like your kind ever cared about the Unknown. You are just a scared boy, aren't you?"

Scio put the grenade in his pocket and stood all the way up, the force, shimmering in his hand, just in case things went bad, he aimed his hand at the Jedi.

"Hey! Hey! This is not what I had in mind!" Marcus shouts as the Jedi grabs him.

((I'll assume she's not squeezing tight enough to prevent this, either...))

He pulls his stun grenade off of his bandolier.

"Put me down, you crazy Jedi! I may be contractually obligated not to hurt my employers, but this thing's a stun grenade! I'm sure there are lawyers who could get me out of any charges resulting from using it in self-defense!"

Since I don't think you talk with your foot and since upside down is kinda pointless in zero gravity, scream all you want

"At this range you would hit yourself, too." And I doubt you have the guts for that. She doesn't say it, but seems to think it.

"You wanted to play. Your rules. Do you want to change them now?"

Scio nearly growled as he looked at Marcus and then the Jedi. His right hand went to his lightsaber hilt, his left, still up. "Marcus, 's your call, you want me to butt out"?

Sithspit! "All right, that's enough out of BOTH of you! I would strongly suggest that we put away the stun grenades and our Force powers before the denizens of this unknown sector of the galaxy have the chance to flay the flesh from our bones. If I have to, I will physically seperate the two of you. Calith growled some in the back of his throat. This is worse than babysitting.

Marcus glares at Nakre.

"This is between me, the Jedi, and the oddly non-lethal explosive device in my hand. Leave us be," he says through clenched teeth.

"I wanted to play a game of grav-ball, not a game of twenty questions," Marcus growls, "What do you want to hear, that I'm a wimp? A nutjob? A man-child?"

Before taking his next action, Marcus steels himself for the coming blast.

He laughs, not his usual chipper laugh, but a sort of bitter chuckle.

"You don't understand me in the slightest, grandma. Catch."

With a clearly practiced motion Marcus pulls the stun grenade's pin and tosses it at the Jedi.

She continues to smile, just holding Marcus close and not letting him go, simply holding him in the grenades range and ducking out of the way herself. Then it explodes and showers them both with its energy, making her hair actually come lose from its elaborate pin.

"I'm impressed. Your colleagues, not so much, I'm sure." Lowering her hand, she lets go of him.

None of the others are actually hit, but the ship is shaken in its foundations, trembling and bucking slightly.

Scio draws pulls forth his sabre, not yet igniting it and strides towards Nakre. "This is your 'lesson' ?Pushing him as far as you can? Why? Your arrogance and stupidity is as worthless now as it was during the Mandalorian Wars. If you want a test, let's go , jedi, you and I, not lethal, but a .. display, if you will. At the very least you get a chance to teach another of your prescious 'lessons'. Scio's expression was fierce as he held his unlight hilt tightly in his hand.
