Emissary of Sand, the Desert of Teerp

Society within the Anthill hadn't changed that much. The Cerebral Council still ruled, and the weak minded were still dominated and mind wiped to create mindless, easily controlled drones. A society in which only a true genius could survive, just like Cliktith had envisioned and worked to create. The only difference is the primary religion.

The Emissary led forth an army of Athiks from the Anthill, Athiks which had been raised from birth to follow Doctrine. Such religious zealots were they that the Cerebral Council was having difficulty maintaining order within the Anthill. Thus, they were to be sent to join with the True Chosen, the Emissary's own little personal army.

[hr]Asherah, Akkade on the Isle of Ash

Despite the hazards of living on an island surrounded by the Ashen Sea, Asherah discovered that living so far from it left her feeling a bit... naked. Not that she didn't normally enjoy the sensation, but this was somehow quite different.

Dredging up some of the Ashen Sea from the Core, Asherah created a cloud of Ash which seemed to always swirl around the Isle. This Ashen Cloud had many of the properties of the Ashen Sea, though it existed on all sides, above, and below the Isle. Any walking along the surface of the Isle would find themselves blinded and suffocating without some form of protection from the dust. The most serious threat after suffocation would be failing to see the edge of the Isle in time to avoid that final, fatal step.

Over time, the Shywas took control of the Foundries that had been built to produce them... and they had ideas. Two of the three Foundries were converted to producing these twisted new machinations. The Automatons were built as tireless workers to replace the slaves which tended to grow weary and collapse after only minimal beatings. Several intelligent, arachnidlike constructs are built as von neuman machines designed to assault and strip entire land masses of their metallic objects. These were named Clockwork Horrors and wisely kept deactivated until needed. Finally, several great Bronze Serpents were built to guard the lesser used passages within the Isle.

With all the mechanical devices now beginning to fill Akkade, it became inevitable that some would eventually break down with age and use. For the junk that was not salvageable, the Shywas designed the Clockroaches, insect like machines the size of dogs which melted down or consumed refuse. For the damaged machines which could be repaired, they designed swarms of Clockwork Menders, small insectoid creatures capable of sacrificing themselves as raw components while others of their kind completed hasty, though exemplary field repairs. Finally, the Shywas designed the Clockwork Steeds to function as literal workhorses that could tolerate more extreme temperatures. Eventually, a smaller version was designed to serve as mounts for them as well.

As technology was gathered from around the world by the spying djinn and qorrosh, the knowledge of the unreliable firearms used on Illumina filtered into Akkade. Ah, gunpowder, this technology was quickly adopted and adapted by the Shywas, incorporating their own clockwork ambitions and a bit of their own peculiar outlook.

Slowly, her genies were displaced as more and more of Akkade became controlled by the Shywas and their machine minions. Asherah was pleased.

Wrapped in a cloak that seemed made of pure black silk, a man who seemed half-flaming approched the group of playground Gods. His black silk cape moved like liquid and drooped off of him, creating a modest seat. The flaming man sat on the seat and smiled at the collected Gods.

    Trandel, Wherever he is

Trandel lay dead, a pool of his own blood drowning him, and the weakened Varr's throat gapeing open. A question mark etched into each of their foreheads and chains around their bodies.

He had followed the Engine's directions to the messy scene. He ran a finger across the engraved markings and growled. "DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMNITY DAMN! Father is returned. Enigma... Xiua... No one gets to reap the honors and processions of death and then simply bounce back. THEY MADE THE CHOICE! The consequences are theirs. And this is ours! The Elder Gods thought soooooo highly of themselves while they pulled the strings of the Playground."

His fingers took on cruel edges and began to carve up the two corpses. "Lossethir will be greatly disappointed. I would have saved the final blow for him." When he was done he had a Trandel puppet and a Varr puppet, each suspended on strings of light.

    "This is over."
    "Oh woe is us!"
    "Yes! A new age!"
    "One without those uptight bastards."
"Bury them, and bury them deep."

"See how great I was? See how I fell?"
"We died cowards' deaths, and now we lay defiled."

    *Goldland*

Lossethir is not bemused. He had no use for the majority of the beings now gathered...which was probably best for everyone involved - he saved the energy, and others avoided coming down with acute case of spear-in-face disorder.

He hurls the Star of Winter into the sky over Goldland and vanishes from sight. The curious blue sphere was nearly as brilliant as its creator...it would see to its own devices.

    *Skies of Goldland*

After punching through the atmosphere the blue orb begins to transform and grows in a crystalline design with six-point symmetry. The glassy black structure takes on a life of its own, and begins to hum with arcane energies and levels out a flight path on its own accord. Finally the crystalline mass is recognizable as a colossal airship, unmistakable engineered by the Winter Lord himself.

((Star of Winter imbued (Create artifact) to produce one Sapphire Spire artifact per week. Sapphire Spires function like the White Tower in the playground, continually blessing the land with fruitfulness while maintaining a constant winter environment in a radius of 300 miles. Imbued again (Create artifact) the Star itself continually casts Pestilence (Winter) twice per week, slowly cooling the entire planet.))

((7 = 11 AP - 2 - 2 (Reduced AP Cost for creating artifacts granted by Star of Winter)))

((The Star of Winter resembles a colossal airship, apparently constructed from obsidian and adamantine accented with etched arcane channels that glow sapphire blue. It works as an arcane factory, continually tapping into the energies of a planet to act as a workshop for Lossethir while, on its own accord, producing artifacts to terraform the world it's operating in.))

Grahn'Long and Kiz'Fahn: The... Big Desert City? and the Elemental Sea Respectively.

Of Course Lady Ren, we shall complete these tasks post haste...
Grahn'Long stretched his muscles before hopping on his skidder and flying towards the elemental sea at around 250 mph. The Skidder crashes through the surface of the elemental sea and submerges itself within the elemental sea. Normally, the stray lightning, fire, rock shards etc would obliterate a vehicle or person upon contact and certainly upon submersion but the flawless skidders created The Flawless Emperor were flawless in every way. The magnetic field that normally kept the skidder in suspension was replaced with a high power anti-gravity(Fly Enchantment) field that also doubled as a field that repels any invasive elements or objects(Globe of Invulnerability Enchantment). The rings and bars that produce the field that would have been incinerated upon exposure to the elemental sea were made from origin ore and were also enchanted with sigil repellent fields(Globes of Invulnerability). The thrusters that normally accelerate and steer a skidder that would also have collapsed upon exposure to the elemental sea were replaced with divine fusion thrusters made from the same repellent origin ore and produce a constant stream of kinetic energy which is expelled in order to accelerate and steer the divine skidder.
As Grahn steered his way through the elemental sea, he apparently disturbed some of it's residents. The sea was unbelievably thick with chunks of rock, ice, and magma bouncing off and around the repellent field and if it weren't for the stray arc of lightning and fire, it would be impossible to navigate the sea. One of those arcs of lightning was very stranger, it looks like a... The living lightning began beating against repellent field, slamming at it with it's fists and expelling blasts of lightning at it. The attempts were futiel and bounced off, but they annoyed Grahn nonetheless.
Oh Joyous day, a monster made of Lightning. This should be fun.
Grahn smiled gleefully as he began to leap out of the anti-gravity field until his hand reached through and the elements of the sea raged upon his exposed hand. The unbelievable pain surged through his body and his honed reflexes kicked in and he removed his hand after less than a second. His hand was still a travesty. The combination of the fire, rushing water, electricity, scything winds, acid streams, high speed rock splinters and higher speed sonic vibrations had eaten through his hand and arm almost to the bone. The divine fibers of Ferru'Dar kicked in and healed the tremendous wounds and further fortifying his body. They then formed creative energies that converted some of the enchanted planar glass into four rings that repelled the lesser forces of the elements. The entire process consumed one and a half of the five threads.
Grahn noticed these and slipped them on, feeling the protective energies wash over his being and intermingle with his very fabric. Feeling more confident this time, he leaped out of the field, this time without any injury. And the skidder left him it's dust. It was already traveling at over 200 mph despite fighting the elemental currents and apparently the lightning beast was the only one that could keep up. Grahn was traveling at the same speed as the skidder while he was in it, that was how the world worked, but when he leaped out the reverse currents slowed him down drastically and the skidder easily outran him. He quickly whipped out his wind-tunnel enchanted, mithril Claw-Whip, which was grafted by a chain onto his skin, and his mighty muscles heaved as he shot it forward as latched it onto back of his skidder. The speed of the chain tugged him forward and he sped along like a drunk waterskier.
He climbed the whip and found himself next to the lightning elemental that had just noticed that he had exited. It shot out a bolt of lightning which Grahn's reflexes redirected by tossing a highly conductive, mithril dagger far to his left. Noticing that the lightning bolt cause a momentary lapse in the beasts concentration, he then whipped out a Heavy Guan from under the folds of his cloak(He's good at hiding his weapons) and swipes at the beasts and easily cleaves it in half. The electricity from the beast shocked his armb but he ignored it and he takes his thumb and index finger and blows a french chef kiss at the perfect slice.
    Ce Magnifique!
Due to his lack of knowledge of such creatures, Grahn was fairly surprised when the creature reformed, even more angry this time.
    That's new.
The angry elemental fired off a salvo of retaliatory lightning bolts that shocked Grahn to his core. Apparently the rings couldn't protect him from such powerful energy. Grahn recovered as quickly as the lightning elemental did and grabbed a long spiked chain with halberd heads attached to both ends. He threw both halberd heads at the elemental which pierced through the beasts chest and he tugged on the chain in order to swing them about and cleave the beast further. Realizing that that wouldn't be enough, Grahn agilely jumped onto his hands grabbed the chain's ends with his toes and then danced about with his hands and feet as he swiftly advanced towards the elemental on his hands while simultaneously slicing it into more and more pieces with the spiked chain which he expertly controlled with his dextrous toes and legs. He then jumped onto his feet while cutting the beast with two powerful downward swipes of his halberd chain while simultaneously quick-drawing two Vuleiian WarHammers from under his cloak. He then began to beat mercilessly on the creature with a skilled, deadly dance that utilized complex attack patterns using both his WarHammers and the two halberd chain heads. The Creature was obliterated in seconds.
Grahn'Long grinned triumphantly as he sheathed and holstered his weapons under his concealing, mithril-fiber, desert cloak. He jumped back into his drivers seat and sped forward, his recently-found divine power healing the many electrical wounds.
One half of a thread was expended.
    There were three left.

Soon after Grahn'Long had left, Kiz'Fahn followed suit. She sped off towards the largest desert city that her recently-born divine vision could locate. When Kiz had almost reached the city, some divine oversight read her worries of issues that could be detrimental to her mission. The divine skidder transformed some of it's planar glass into fabulous gold jewelry, adorned with rare gems, and a few of which Kiz's arcane eyesight realized were subtly enchanted to enhance her already amazing charisma. She enhanced her image with these lavish luxuries and let each piece peak slightly out of the folds of her cloak. She simply sped on towards the city, not even considering how her flawless lord had created such astounding pieces of jewelry.

    Ferru'Dar: The Scrying Chamber

Ferru'Dar noticed how his companion had failed to leave and his flawless sense of common hospitality kicked in.
Please, Lady Marietta. Have a seat.
Ferru'Dar removes twenty of his divine threads and has their planar warping properties sculpt a lavishly adorned, flawless throne for his company. He then reattaches the threads and sweeps his hand welcomingly, beckoning Marietta to seat herself.

    The Godforge, Shell 3

Ignus stared out into the skies from his chambers. The terrible movements of the earth had torn a sizable chunk of his wall. It had been quite some time since he saw open sky.

He turned his attention back to the papers on his desk. It was a disaster, the tearing of the Godforge and neighboring Volcanoes destroyed a number of valuable creations. A score of Flameborn and and Forged were missing, presumably dead. To top it all off, the magma lake was leaking.

Iron Post was relatively unscathed, likely from its location on the surface rather than underground. Several buildings collapsed from the earthquakes, but reconstruction began once the chaos died down. The statue of Coberal lost its head, a replacement would need to be forged.

Ignus signed the parchment needed to continue repairs, attaching all the necessary documents before sending it away. He looked out into the sky again, drifting his thoughts over and under the distant clouds.

The great blue he was seeing was once water, the major road of trade. The Airships of the Grin docked once or twice a year before this catastrophe, not enough to encourage the creation of but two or three ships of the Godforge's own. It will be some time before a sizable fleet was made to replace the navy, time during the Godforge's cooling.

If the magma runs out, the forges stop, crippling the Godfoge's greatest ability. Is the world's core, or whatever is left, facing a similar problem? Scouting parties are needed, but the Godforge needs all the bornpower it has to stay active.

Do the other nations know the Godforge's location? There was so much chaos, so many lands moved about. Are they even in the same place as before? The Godforge can't go back to waiting to be found, that didn't work before. They had to bring themselves to the nations, and they'll have to do it again!

Ignus cleared his desk, grabbed a black deice of parchment, and began designing a new project. The Iron Maiden teaches that people must make miracles themselves.

This was going to be a miracle all right.

    A big one.

Feldall Camp, Crimson Steppes, Ramua part of the New Moon

Heriat watched the sun set, his morose face staring past the light. Lussia was absent, and his newborn son sleeping in its crib at home. He was alone.

Two weeks ago, the midwife had pushed Heriat out the hut, annoyed by his constant pacing and questions. Insisting that he had plenty of time, the midwife told Heriat to occupy himself. Heriat wandered about, missing even one moment of his child's birth was torture.

Heriat was at Urbentu's when the earth shook. Racing outside, Lussia's screams were all Heriat heard as chaos erupted all around him. The shaking become worse and worse as Heriat worked his way to his home. The ground was more ferocious than the black-scaled Mouthbeast, pinning Heriat with its rumblings. Heriat fought even as his vision clouded.

Heriat awoke in his cot. The midwife was standing nearby as his bandages were being checked. Something was making noise... but Heriat couldn't tell what it was.

"Lussia," Heriat wheezed as he lifted himself up, "Where is she?"

"She," the midwife paused to look back at the thing making noise, "I'm sorry Heriat... There was nothing I could do."

    "You mean she...?"

    "Yes... I'm sorry."

Heriat dropped himself flat onto the cot. A minute passed before he could work up the courage to say, "And my child?".

"Survived," the midwife meekly smiled. She turned to where the sound was coming from. Heriat noticed that there was something in the crib Lussia had made for the baby. The midwife wrapped it in a blanket and handed it to Heriat. "It's a boy," the midwife said, "Lussia named him Frebar."

"Frebar," Heriat repeated the word with a frown. He returned the baby to the midwife, closing his eyes to escape. If this was the happiest moment of his life... why did he wish it had never happened?

The last ray of the sun disappeared over the horizon. The view of the earth below began its domination of the night sky. Heriat entered his hut, the crib drawing his eye. Frebar was sleeping... A son born from two catastrophes, a bad omen. It looked like Lussia's child, but its hair was much too dark. It was too noisy, and bit the wet nurse almost everyday. Worse of all were its-

The baby woke up, staring up at the dark figure above its crib. It cried, scrunching up its face and lizard-like eyes.

    Demos/Atheos: The Frontier Outpost

Demos and his group approached the peak of the waterfall plateau that they were exploring. When they reached the top they discovered that the the plateau was in fact layered with caved complexes in between. "One, Two... Four. Four layers, how f***ing wonderful." Demos shook his head and turned towards his 48 students.
"Alright kids, split into 3 groups of 14 and the last 6 of you follow me." Demos points at his top 3 disciples. "You six, take point. The rest of you follow them and look out for each other, I'm too busy with my duties to train more of you. Take your pick on which layer you want to go to, I'm taking the top." Demos summons his blade and agilely jumps from rock to rock until he reaches the the top. He glances down and realizes that his students had barely climber ten feet. "Come on kids! We don't have all day!" Atheos grins and cackles devilishly as he turns around and begins to explore the topmost layer. Alone. "Meet back at the base level in an hour. If you're late, I'm leaving you behind!" After glancing around, he sits down and grabs a jug of vodka from his bag of holding, taking a hearty swig.
Demos let Atheos take the forefront for now, Demos wasn't one for patience. As Atheos sipped his vodka, he glanced back down at his disciples and began to contemplate. When he noticed the struggles of his disciples he realized that they were not unlike himself. He wished to aid the world to reach it's destiny however considering the power of the other greater beings, that was a difficult task to say the least. He would need an advantage over his potential adversaries. He finished the rest of his vodka in one draft and then began to meditate, focusing his mind. He drew on the connection he had with his father and drew on his power and intermixed it with his own. He then summoned up images of his homeland, Vu'Xiang, and created a divine connection with it's flawless glory. He drew on the overflowing energies and emotions of the people of Vu'Xiang and fused it with his divine energies. His energy flowed from him in a stream of prismatic light that flooded the sky with flawless beauty. Suddenly, back at Vu'Xiang, a flawless segment of the the Heart of Ferru'Dar split off and absorbed all of the divine energies flowing from Atheos. The chunk of planar glass fused it's very being with the energy, warping it's very nature and changing it into a crimson red. It then reattaches itself into the Heart of Ferru'Dar, continuing as a beacon of hope to it's people.

((Atheos/Demos AP=0, 0+2(Weekly Gain)=2, 2+1(Transfered from Ferru'Dar)=3, 3-3(Create Artifact: Soul of Competition - Utility Artifact, reduces the cost for creating artifacts by 1 AP each, usable twice a week. (As Monotok and Star of Winter))=0))

    Ferru'Dar: The Scrying Chamber

Ferru'Dar watched his son's progress and commended his efforts. He looked back upon Vu'Xiang and saw the inventive progress they were making. But the constant stream of inventions required an equally constant stream of inventive spirit and that tired The Flawless Emperor Endlessly. He flowed his divine energies into the Heart of Ferru'Dar and breaks off an equally sized segment and fuses it with the inventive spirit that he instilled within his people. The energies transfigured the segment into a mithril(cobalt) blue and infused it with the inventive energies. He reattached the segment and it resumed it's job as a beacon of light to the people of Vu'Xiang. It pulsed with incorporeal energies, filling Vu'Xiang with an air of inventive and creative spirit.

((Ferru'Dar's AP=2, 0+5(Weekly Gain)=5, 5-1(Spent on Soul of War)=4, 4-2(Reduced AP Cost granted by Soul of Competition(1 charge left), Create Artifact: Soul of Invention - Utility Artifact, reduces the cost of mortals inventing new things and ideas by 1 AP each, usable twice a week)=2))

    **Caina/Ren, Goldlands**

She watched from the sky the recon work of Ferru'dar's messengers and was pleased. They were learning the ways of this new world, the harshness of the brutal Elemental Sea, the splendor of Krisopolis, the golden city. They were doing well...very well.

Grandfather Winter had added his own touch to this world, a sphere of cold to cast Lossethir's bountiful countenance upon the world. As the Playgrounders' sway over the Goldlands increased, so did Caina become a part of the new world. She pulled a thread of power from her father back in Playground. Her skin took in the shining sands of the world below her, and her silver visage took on a richer tone. Far richer. Those few mortals who saw her spoke of a glistening and metallic serpent-woman they called Golden Ren. She raced across the desert sands and told tales of how they were pulled along in her quicksilver wake.

As she perused these new lands, an idea struck her. She laid back on a massive plateau and called a message out to the sun tyrant, "I hope you haven't given up on dreams, grandfather! I have an idea that may make erasing all worship of Varr far easier than any of us had ever thought."

The Swaying Grass, Glacias, Shell 1

    Spoiler
    Show
Glacias is the new name given for the frozen chunk of eastern Xiua that's on Shell 1.

Grass withered in the chill, turning brown and sagging. Everywhere, the Swaying Grass was dying. The frozen aberrations had done their job, for the creatures of the swaying grass had been thoroughly distracted in defending their homes from the foul monstrosities which plagued them. None were paying attention to where the true strike was aimed.

In the southernmost parts of the Swaying Grass, a tremulous crash was heard. Again, and again, and again, the sounds of massive plants crashing to the ground could be heard. Ever did these sounds grow until the individual sounds were lost in the perpetual din. The true attacks had begun.

The undead worked, being led by their Frostborn masters. Little by little, the Swaying Grass was thinned as it was leveled like a forest, cut down by the tireless undead. The Sucking Mire at the base of the grass was frozen solid by the Frostborn as the undead worked. Most of the beasts fled before the army, but those brazen enough, or perhaps just foolish enough, to attack were quickly cut down by the Frost Giants who otherwise labored to haul away the fallen grass. Little by little, the Swaying Grass was disappearing like so much endangered rain forest.

Farther to the north, a terrible blizzard begins, causing a total whiteout in which none could see. In this state of total blindness and near deafness from the roaring winds, dull thuds began to be heard. Loud cracks and groans followed by the screams... those terrible screams... Rocks of ice, nearly the size of a man, began to fall from the sky, battering down any unfortunate enough to be under them.

Those who managed to survive the initial assault soon found themselves wishing they had died quickly. This was no ordinary hail, no this was Death Hail, ice formed from the waters of the river Styx and heavily laden with raw negative energy, which leeched the life from all nearby. Those who fell to the horrid wilting of the death hail were raised again as undead.

    **The Grin, Shell 3**

Trade had picked up greatly since the airship merchants had become so much more valuable, and the Sky Knights' membership increased by quite a bit- apparently, the path of a wild bard was easier to take when your airborne companion was also a worldwide status symbol- he who rules the sky rules the world, they say.

Life went about much as usual, and the three forged (all of whom had since returned to the Grin) passed on their knowledge of airships to a small core of apprentices chosen at birth by powerful divinations. Only the brightest and most loyal would be chosen- the way of the airship crafter was known by no more than 10 at a time, excluding the trio of forged. With much of their burden relieved by 10 expert apprentices, the trio set about making other creations.

One made a lion who roared with a metallic tone and whose mane was made of polished brass. He called it an 'effigy' to the lion, possessing most of its strengths and few of its weaknesses.

Another took to building with glass. After many failures, he produced one succesful creature: a glass spider. Unlike other constructs, however, it had a will of its own and quickly escaped. These glass arachnids can be found all across the Grin and other cities of Playground, as they possess the astounding ability to jump between mirrors as though they were portals of some sort.

The third of the forged set about to create more traditional golems. His final product was a shining Golden Golem of Gliss, or, more commonly, simply a "Three-G." It held the power to shed a glorious light (a light that could, it was rumored, turn back the undead), and was soon mass-produced and integrated into the already deep service network on the Grin. The final forged knew that a day would come when his creation would be used for war, but that day, thankfully, was quite a ways away.

    Cerwch yn Ddidasog

What an interesting time we live in. For example, the world just exploded.
The world had changed, and the break was just to the west of the Cavern and Plateau. Many of the lower caves of the Grimlocks were lost, but most of them survived.
It had been a traumatic experience for them, nonetheless. Sensing as they do primarily through touch, many of them had a heart attack upon the outset of the Shattering.
Luckily, everything had settled down. Which meant that, finally, Cerwch could go about her own business.
She conjured herself a loom, and went right to work, spinning herself some of the finest yarn possible. Then, she conjured herself some beads, and dropped, one by one, each crystal bead onto the yarn, and then she looped it until it formed a tight spiral. And then, she formed it into a brooch, and attached it to her chest.
    It was tantalisingly beautiful.

The Destroyer, The Abyss Layer 1

It is a fact that there were many gods vastly more powerful than The Destroyer. Or so it might seem at first. It was a schemer. Things that might seem random may be part of some greater plan. Or seeming plans could be nothing at all. Or, maybe everything was both at the same time.

Accounts of what happened next were difficult to determine. Those who would have been able to witness it, Demons, already were not particularly reliable sources of information. But something about it seemed to make them all snap. Some of them claimed that the whole Abyss went up in flames. Others that it became iced over, and that devils had taken it over. Persistent rumors circulated that The Destroyer had been replaced, and that the new one, was a pawn of Asmodeus. Most would only scream incoherently, from then on. There was one common theme though. Every single one of them was absolutely terrified about what they saw.

Illuman priests came to the conclusion that at this time frame, was probably when The Destroyer exhibited a tremendous increase in power. The fact that earthquakes were felt across the world, were cited as evidence. The Destroyer was after all a blast, and so it stood to reason that some echo would happen after such a tremendous event. While they were strange events, the earthquakes themselves were small. Many wondered if they were in fact, entirely natural. Coincidences do happen.

    Coberal

It was finished, the Divine Mandate. Coberal looked out onto the changed world and sighed. Her actions may have been late, but she planned the Mandate to be damage control during these chaotic times.

The world seems to have quieted. The time has come for Coberal, and her successors, to keep the volume low. The conflict that will rise is natural, being an aspect of the power of War.

War... Rumors of the concept had entered the Playground since before Coberal was created. Her existence being from the anticipation of its coming. The whispers if war alone possessed the power to change the course of the Playground.

The Gods of the Playground prepared, and the invading gods were already prepared and on their way. Coberal assumed the duties of preparing the mortals for whatever the invading gods may bring upon them. Unfortunately, little cooperation resulted in a volcano fortress full of weapons with no one to wield them.

Can gods cooperate? While the unity against a single threat may provide evidence for the idea, the actions during the threat's presence and actions after the threat was eliminated proved against the idea.

When Varr emerged, it was Lossethir who took Xiua'Hi's place in that fateful duel. Was he fighting more for the Playground, or more for his personal glory? Lossethir took the honor of being victorious as Xiua'Hi received a boon of his own from Varr... How great this boon was is something only the giver and receiver know.

The time afterward is a mass of confusion for the mortal world. Although the Godforge never became the trading hub Coberal wanted, its ideas and works found their way into the world. Weapons were taken up, and wars fought. But it was these wars were not by mortal hands, they were lead by gods and their proxies. Like children, the gods of the Playground had new toys to play with. The game became deadlier.

Coberal appeared within the Void, unfurling the document to read. The words written began to glow as she read them aloud, cementing their place into the fabric of the Playground.

    (0= 6-6(empower document: Divine Mandate))
    Gods of the Playground!

Long have we meddled in the affairs of the mortal world, and they are none the better for it. Powerful artifacts harm their world, and gods from other planes seek to destroy them and place their own creations in their place.
I understand your desire to aid them, but too much aid will hinder them. But I am not without sympathy.

Three weeks are you allowed to directly interfere with your children. This time you may do as you please. Afterward, you will be asked to merely guide them. If you can not abide by these laws....

... Then Judgment shall fall upon thee.

We must let go of our flocks, allow them to roam free and unhindered. They may fall, even die, but their faith will remain toward you always.

It is time we take a step back. It is time we watch the course the Playground takes as observers, not participants.

    We must let go.

Order or Chaos, Good or Evil, belief, these are what gods fight over. They are powered by it, and use it to force themselves upon others.

Coberal thought the Playground was the sum of the mortals and their caring gods. Over time, she learned the Playground was simply a playground of gods playing with a box of toys.

No god can claim they performed with their people's interests over their own; some gods just catered to their interests less than others. Enigma remains a question, burning like he has done to his followers. Eul continues to devour the world, creeping like an unwatched cancer. The Emissary of Sand preaches through his proxies, undermining the faith of other gods. Amalthea too, extends her influence via Vincent. Raliak must be organizing more forces for his concept of 'purity', as the Warlord in whatever new incarnation it as taken. Ferru'Dar has remained distant, but his creation, Athoes, walks the mortal plane.

Coberal would have smiled if her mask had the ability. She was the most guilty in acting in her interests. With her Divine Mandate, she has solidified her interests over all others, yet has left them with enough freedom to fool enough into 'cooperation'.

She may have been a pawn in a larger scheme, for it was Xiua'Hi who instilled these ideas into her, but Coberal may have managed to maneuver her way out.

Coberal pulled out the message she had received as she was writing her mandate, "Invaders remain. The Gate. Shall be shut in 5 weeks.", and recalled the message Gliss had sent her "Your father's high priest Yen has asked me to assemble a group of gods to travel in 5 week's time to the wall Xiua made around Playground's place in the multiverse. I would be honored if you would join.
    -Gliss
    ".

Xiua'Hi must have left several contingency plans in case of his death. The words she spoke before her Laws were given to her by Xiua'Hi. The formation of the Mandate was hers, but several laws were heavily Xiua'Hi's creation.

While the return of her father would bring unsurpassed joy, Coberal could not allow him control. He has gone beyond the boundaries of the Playground. If the conversation between him and Varr is true, then Xiua'hi allowed Varr and his kin to return to attack that second time.

But what does it matter? Coberal passed what she wanted, and Gliss will take the helm when she leaves.

After a divine month or two of managing the Mandate, Coberal will visit Kaern, the first being that greeted her. Long ago it was, when the Playground was still young and Coberal was but an iron mask. Kaern had mentioned something during their first conversation, "The desire that no race ends is my purpose. Not only in the conflict to come, but always."

What would Kaern say to the condition of the Playground's races? Would he have taken this course of action? The answer will never be known, as he has fallen into a deep slumber, becoming hazy and covered in dust.

Coberal will sleep too, beside Kaern; meeting him, Xam, and all the other long lost gods in whatever lies in wait for gods who were finished with the game of gods.

I can already imagine that somewhere, there is a lovecraftian world that is horrified by someone writing about a place like Earth.

    **Gliss, on the Grin**

He'd had this cough for a few years now and his fur had been getting rougher and rougher...

To everyone but Gliss, it was clear the Wanderer was sick. He'd been growing rust for quite some time and it was beginning to cover his entire body...

Tryll and Gliss were walking to the Noodle Shop one afternoon when steam started to rise from the South Wind's footprints.

What's going on? he thought as panic raced through his mind. No, no, no, this can't be happening, it isn't time yet, there aren't enough of them to do this, how many must worship me that...no! NO! NO! AGGGGH!

All the people of the Grin saw a great cloud of steam rise into the sky, and the God of Summer's furred capsin visage was never again seen by mortal eyes.

His assistant looked forlorn, though his voice held a peculiar sense of pride and his eyes a quietly restrained tear. "So ends the age of gods. Farewell, Gliss, wherever you may be."

Atheos: The frontier city - Jie'Xian
Atheos had had this feeling for a while.
Jie'Xian, the frontier city of the now expanding Vuleiian Empire, was fully established. They had found a group of nomadic Aegars upon the plateau and had established a much needed ally. The Aegars despised fire and it's destructive nature and struck out at all who used it. Fortunately, the settlers from Vu'Xiang had not used any fire thus far, their food was cooked by sigil stoves that heated food without fire and their nightly work was powered continuous light spells that had lessened the cargo they had to carry. However, fire had been used in the torches used to explore the caves of the Plateau and the Aegar did indeed strike out. Fortunately, Atheos had brought only the best of his warriors with him and although the Aegar fought with much courage and vigor, the ragers defeated them with no casualties. The Aegar, to their own merit as warriors, also survived with no casualties and through their innate respect for strength, they established a friendship and camaraderie with the skilled warriors of Vu'Xiang. The Aegar proved to be allies of great import when it came time for Jie'Xian to sustain itself without the aid of rations. They taught the settlers of Jie'Xian how to hunt in the Western Woods as well as the patterns of the seasons that were foreign to the children of the desert. In turn, the Blood and War-Ragers taught the Aegar how to meditate and force adrenaline surges in order to improve their effectiveness in combat.
Atheos looked upon his children with pride and realized that there would be no more use for his guidance. The metal angel was right. There was still two more days till he had agreed to leave his children unadulterated but they were more than ready. After a hearty night at the tavern where desert children and Aegar partied alike, Atheos left without a word, swifter than a black panther through the night. He left only a map of the Western woods that he had inscribed using his Greater Vision with golden circles dotting locations more than suitable for further outposts.
He had had this feeling for a while. The time of Gods was coming to an end.
With this thought in hand, Atheos borrowed upon the strength of his father and gave birth to another shard of the Heart of the Flawless Emperor. Realizing that he had not much time left till his mission needed to be accomplished, he created the Soul of Conflict, a Black Shard, so that he could better complete his mission, despite the influence of other gods.

((Atheos/Demos AP=0, 0+2(Transfered from Ferru'Dar)=2, 2-2(Reduced cost for Create Artifact from Soul of Competition(0 charges left): Soul of Conflict - Utility Artifact, reduces the cost for creating artifacts by 1 AP each, usable twice a week. (As Monotok, Star of Winter, and Soul of Competition))=0))

    Vu'Xiang

Tehr'Xian looked upon the models of Sand-Skidders that had been completed thus far and was suddenly inspired. He had just recently invented a sigil grid that could overlap with another and reduce the input of energy but reduce the maximum potential of output. This solved the problem with creating larger Skidders and after he introduced the invention to the Inventors Guild, they were put into production immediately. These commercial Skidders were essentially larger skidders that allowed a large crew and tons of cargo to travel long distances. They didn't have the same speed and acceleration as other Skidders but allowed for much longer distance travel with similar power input. Yet another revolutionary invention born from Vu'Xiang.
Elsewhere, Yun'Kahn was laughing manically at his invention. He had designed several new weapons utilizing recently introduced enchantments which opened up all sorts of new possibilities. He had his brother, a skilled master from the War-Wing, test them out. The room was reduced to rubble in seconds. Yun'Kahn continued to laugh manically despite the several broken bones that the recoil gave his brother.

    ((Ferru'Dar AP=0, 0+2(Soul of Invention - 0 Charges left)=2, 2-2(Teach Populous x 2 - Commercial Skidders, Sigil Canons & Repeaters)=0))
