70%. It is nice if the exotic species are indeed exotic and somewhat rare. Too frequent appearance only leads to overuse.

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
50%.
The other races don't seem very dominant, in the way you'd expect Elves or Dwarves to be, and there are three part-human races indicating a decent sized human breeding pool. As such 50 seems right, I wouldn't want there to be too many humans, they are one of my leas favourite races. If I had a +1 Pan of Frying I could totally do that!

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
If humansare 30%, then that means - assuming you split the remaining 70% evenly amonh the other races, which isn't a given at all, but I'll go off it for right now - that means that each other race will have about 14% of the pop.
So, humans will still be dominant, but they most definitely won't be the only race you see; they won't even make up half the total population, despite having more than twice any other one race. I like that balance. That means humans are still around and still strong, but it's unlikely that humans will be the ruling race.
30% is my vote.

The races will not split the remainder evenly.

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
30% seems good to me. I'd like to see a population split like in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. If the Lizardfolk could take a cue from the Bangaa, that too would be awesome.

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
Specifically, the races will be given proportional representation, based on the vote count from the previous poll.
Now, about those pesky Kobolds...

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
I would vote kobolds run carthage, the roman-esque steampunk styled nation in a far off land. Not called carthage, of course, but drawing inspiration from there. Maybe the kobolds have some large empire as well, though that's not needed. Thus, the kobolds wouldn't be about the desert much, but are still in the world in large(ish) numbers.
If anything like this idea gets accepted, I'd like to volunteer myself to help with this part of the campaign.5e Homebrew: Death Knight (Class), Kensai (Monk Subclass)Excellent avatar by Elder Tsofu.

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
So if I made a table expressing, based on the amount of votes they got, the percentage of the population each race would have in each human percentage scenario because I was curious and my geology class is mind-numbingly boring...would I be allowed to post it, or would that put an unwanted skew on votes?

Magnor: I would ask that you PM such a table to me first, so that I could see whether it would demonstrate a clear bias.

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
I'll go with 60. None of the other races seem like a particular dominant race to me, and I don't think there should be more Half-Djinns than humans.

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
There won't be, even if humans only account for 30% of the population. The splitting of the remaining percentage among the other five races means that no once race can exceed humans.

Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
Magnor's correct; the maximum possible population for Half-Djinn is 18.8%.
Magnor: If you want to do up that table and PM it to me, I'll review it. Having examined some of the statistics, I doubt there will be a problem.Need a place to hang? Like Discord? Re: Vote Up a Campaign Setting (3E/4E)
Having seen the numbers, I don't think there will be much bias introduced by a percentile table. Chances are, those whom it would bias have already run the numbers themselves.

{table=head]Human|30%|40%|50%|60%|70%|80%
Half-Djinn|19%|16%|13%|11%|8%|5%
Lizardfolk|16%|13%|11%|9%|7%|4%

Half-Ghul|13%|11%|9%|7%|5%|4%

For the curious, even if humans were a mere 20% of the total, they would still outnumber all but the Half-Djinn. Though at 10% they would in fact be outnumbered even by gnolls.Last edited by AgentPaper; 2008-11-14 at 12:37 PM.
