But the Pone is a true work of art, in a terrifying, lovecraftian way.

This is completely true. But really, just have fun!
Start a small comic, doodle in margins of books with snarky comments, something! But your love of the work will show, and you will quickly find repetition builds skill and confidence.

If you want an immediate confidence booster, develop a character who is crazy simple, so you can't mess it up. Like Happy noodle Boy, even. Use that cadavers all the time, and you'll notice refined details after a very short period.

I'm still drawing despite seeing what other folks my age can do, because nothing feels so good or right as when you hit a curve at just the right angle to express everything you've dreamed of. I will never truly move to digital art, because I have been seduced by the traditional arts.
