Re: League of Legends XXIII: gunbladeface.jpg
Item/Resource efficiency. All games are about the efficient use of resources. In LoL, the resources we have are vision, time, experience and gold. Experience and gold are the resources we have the easiest control over (I'm not entirely sure if time is even a resource, its a factor in gameplay decisions, due to timers, etc).
The reality is, focusing resources on heroes that scale well is the most efficient way to use gold. This is why heroes like Janna, Taric, and Soraka have always been effective supports: they have abilities that do not require a significant amount of gold to be effective. Janna and Soraka do very well as farmed heroes, yes, but Vayne does better.
You see where I am going with this? Jarvan is a great hero/champion/toon/whatever you freaking call it. But does he scale as well as Vayne? As annie?
There is obviously sometimes a line between super carry and early game. Brand is popular because of his early game, while annie is good because of her scaling. But, generally speaking, the heroes that should be getting farmed are the ones that scale the best.
Finally, there are limited amounts of resources so choosing who gets them is important. Realize that League of Legends is a snowball game. This is key to understanding how this game works. Why? Because that means that the best way to win is to snowball in everything: farm, kills, map objectives. That requires focused farming. There are 4 places to farm: jungle, and the three lanes. There are 5 heroes. By definition 1 hero cannot, thus, get anything but minimal farm if you want to make effective use of the snowball theory.
Every moba game (HoN, DotA, and LoL) has had to deal with the limited resources/limited effective scaling champions in their own way. League of Legends handles it best because it is surprisingly easy and exceedingly effective to jungle (as compared to DotA) AND heroes like Tanks and Mages actually scale effectively with items (tanks do so the least, but they do scale). In theory, supports, who are basically just a hero that doesn't get farm (for instance, Blitzcrank works moderately well as a support champion. He's a melee AD. Taric is a caster/tank hybrid, Janna is a caster, alistar is a tank), scale well with farm, certaintly Janna is a viable AP caster, and certaintly Blitzcrank is amazing with IE+Triforce, but due to the limited amounts of resources on the map, most teams choose to use these heroes in the support role, if they ever use them.

I count the same number, 7 each with 2 recolors. Super Teemo tied Teemo with Kog'Maw though, so there was a time when Kog'Maw reigned supreme.

Re: League of Legends XXIII: gunbladeface.jpg
League of Legends XXIV: What's next? Teamwork?
(This is not really all that serious, and I have no desire for people to vote on it. BTW, what if they really did "nerf" teamwork?)
You know what I would like for Jarvan? Reduced mana costs and a very small AD scaling on his flag. Or maybe for his ult to be skillshot, but cannot be flashed out of... Except that would still be OP. Oh well.
Honestly, if I want to play an extremely tanky extremely controlling champion? On to Leona! Screw damage, make them stand still more!
Although then I feel like she could do something besides her passive to support her teammates. I like carrying buffs around, now that I think of it, because it always means that I can be of some use even on my bad days.

I've started streaming again.
78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.
I started my first campaign outside of an abandoned mine, just as soon as a meteor storm from the moon hits.

Re: League of Legends XXIII: gunbladeface.jpg
So I've begun the long process of learning how to play all the champions I have available again. That's 40 some odd-champions and I figured "I only play like a handful of these guys. I'll try this..."
So needless to say, after some good fun with Zilean and Warwick, I went up the line to Vlad...Holy cow, did I forget how awesome this guy was at just owning mid lane. Tome+Health Pot start and I just chewed through a LeBlanc to the point where I ended up dealing more damage in the harass trade through spell vamp + Q heal. Other than his lack of CC, I might have to give him some more time. He's definitely one of those champions that I was not at all good with when I got him and just shelved him right away.

Re: League of Legends XXIII: gunbladeface.jpg
I am never jungling solo queue ever again after that horrible disgrace of a top solo udyr.
No, if I am ahead of you in the queue, I get to pick top solo. I don't care. I am a better player. I really don't think very highly of you and I can't be everywhere at once when 2 lanes fail at the same time. And I can't stop you from feeding after you swap and proceed to feed the only lane that wasn't winning. And I can't hard engage against a poke team when I don't have much in the way fo tank items and I can't stop you from letting Lee Sin smite steal baron easily because I am dead.
That's why I top solo. Because I can win top. I can't win 3 lanes.
edit: Also, the enemy team had caitlyn. This makes me annoyed, because she ALWAYS beats me in Solo queue.

Re: League of Legends XXIII: gunbladeface.jpg
Prolly a tad too long. I recall there's a rather strict limit on the number of characters in topic names. That said, I do appreciate Hamlet in LoL so thanks for that, anyways.
That said, I still think the best topic name was the little Sion-quip at yours truly from few pages ago:

Re: League of Legends XXIII: gunbladeface.jpg
Um, beg pardon? While I understand the annoyance at having a bad solo top, this definitely isn't a good defense against it. ELO is only roughly equivalent to player skill, and the difference between the two is enough that it's very possible that the best player on a team is not the highest ELO on the team.
Just a pet peeve of mine. Order =/= skill.
Ingredients
2oz Djinn
5oz Water
1 Lime Wedge
Instructions
Pour Djinn and tonic water into a glass filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Garnish with lime wedge. Serve.
