If I remember my random trivia correctly, then their big mountain railroad rollercoast's aforementioned big mountain, at 100ish feet is the tallest land in Florida. Fortunately it's so close! That's not far to move the castle at all, I'd say!

They look kind of like they're walking, but the angle from the background is throwing me off with the second one. Have you considered just putting a grass texture on a plane beneath it and the trees on some on the side so the background can actually angle properly? No idea if you're capable of doing that with the program you're using, but it would make it easier to tell how it looks.

Aha. Now, that's extremely useful help! In fact exactly the sort of help I needed - I should have known ponythread would have come up with someone who's actually looked at this sort of locomotion! (I was just taking an educated guess from working the out the joints...) And that's why ponythread is awesome! I'd not thought about rotating in the vertical axis, but that's that magic minor alteration that makes all the difference, isn't it?

It took me a couple of tries, because I realised legs one and three were clipping into the body, but there we go...!
I twisted four, and two ever so slightly.

So yesterday I was kind of sad because I wanted to take part in the Derpy Day festivities, especially Operation: Indiscriminate Friendship. I couldn't though because I had work, and it was on a set set in 1864 New York so no ponies could be visible anywhere nor would I be allowed to video tape anyone singing Pinkie's Singing Telegram. Fortunately it turned out I didn't have to be in until the evening, so while I was running some errands that really needed to be done and grabbed myself a delicious muffing while I was out. Then on my way back I realized that it really didn't matter if I couldn't record people. This was about making friends with strangers, not YouTube videos! So I ran to the nearest coffee shop and grabbed a dozen muffins with just enough time to get to work. That said...

Derpy Day - Operation: Indiscriminate Friendship Report
I originally wanted to get two dozen muffins, but these were big muffins and I couldn't pack away more. Turns out a dozen was plenty as there were at most 50 people on set yesterday. I also decided I would attempt to do this without directly bringing up ponies. I figured that in a room with a limited number of subjects, all it would take is a few to turn it down entirely because it was ponies to cause the entire thing to fall through. Peer pressure and all that. Anyone who asked what Derpy Day was was told it's a day when a bunch of people go out and try making friends with random strangers by giving them muffins in exchange for getting them to read/sing a silly song, and anyone who asked about Gummy was just told he's a pet alligator. I also explained that normally I'd film people reading it for a YouTube compilation, but non-disclosure agreements suck. They agreed it would be awesome to get a bunch of 1860-era peasants to read the song and put it on YouTube.

First table I went to claimed a pair of muffins, and everyone at the table that didn't go for a muffin still thought the song was adorable. Afterwards I heard them talking about Googling the lyrics for the song to figure out what it was from. I'm calling a success there.

Afterwards I made my rounds through the groups and found it was actually stupidly easy to get people to read the song for a muffin. And everyone had fun doing it. Most of them mentioned after I had left that they were going to visit YouTube or Google to find out more about Derpy Day. Curiosity is far better than me simply gushing about how awesome the show is. I only wish I had some idea of how many people actually went through with the search and what they thought when they found out the entire thing's pony-based. When I was down to my last two muffins (took less than an hour, and that was with constant stops to avoid making noise while filming was happening on set) they sent us for lunch. So my quest had to wait until the end of the night, as nobody would want muffins after raiding the lunch table.

At the end of the night I made a last pass around the tables. The last muffin went to this one lady sitting all alone that I had missed earlier. After she finished reading I heard someone behind me say "Hey, isn't that from My Little Pony?" I was wondering if someone would recognize it. Turns out he's familiar with the show because his daughter watches it, and he thinks it's a really great show. He also told me it's on Treehouse here in Canada, and we both agree that that's a horrible channel for a show as smart as FiM. After I stepped away to dispose of the box I heard him talking to the lady about the show. I waiting until she said she was going to do a mareathon of it this weekend to go back over and fill in a few of the details about Derpy the other guy was unaware of. (He isn't internet-savvy, but is at least aware of who Derpy is and why muffins were involved.) So yeah, Derpy Day ended with a potential convert who was shocked that this show got so popular on the internet and she didn't realize it. She was also surprised at how long this fandom's been running. As she said, one year is a long time in internet culture. I hope I bump into her on set sometime in the future, it'll be interesting to see what she thought.

But wait, there's more! When I got home I was in a great mood over the massive success of Derpy Day. I decided to torment my roommates by marking yesterday as Derpy Day on the calendar in the living room. So I crossed off the last few days of February and flipped the page.
