I chose it because it's a pithy summary of a lot of stuff that's being going through my head lately. Simple truths usually hide oversimplifications and hidden assumptions that obscure the nature of that which they describe. They are either more complex than they seem, or less true. It doesn't mean that complex truth cannot be encapsulated in a simple statement, it warns of the difficulty of the task.

Philosophy aside, a simple truth stating that truth is rarely simple is a delightfully not-entirely-self-contradicting construction and I find that aesthetically pleasing in it's own right. A verbal Escher painting* of sorts.

How do you psychoanalyse that?

You see your friend throughly enjoying a show typically considered non-(your age group) and find yourself jealous of his enjoyment. Perhaps it is jealousy at his ability to enjoy something so simple, or the fact that he can get so into a single topic, or just jealousy at his being accepted into a group despite what would be considered his "non-manly" entertainment.

I would recommend taking a good look at your envy and what exactly is causing it. Simply joining into the fandom that your friend is in may not be immediately recommended, as you may be envious of his enjoyment rather than what he is enjoying. Remember that it is your friend's enjoyment, rather than your friend himself, that you are jealous of - do not take such resentment against his enjoyment against your friend yourself.

She knows portions of the opening theme now, flipped out when she saw Derpy say "Muffins" and enjoys Pinkie's pinkiness.

Oh, she also asked if she was a brony now, I said that she was technically a Pegasister. She went "Blegh, Brony is cooler."
