Re: Ponythread LV:55 Ponythread learns Agility!
S3 Episode Comment:
SpoilerThat part comes at the end of the episode when Trixie's magic self-destructs and Twilight ends up back on top.
...
That came outwrongright.
Already did that last month getting the sound bites for my Skyrim Mod.
...stupid Skyrim update. Waiting on the CK to catch up so I can get back to that.
S3 Episode comment:
SpoilerBy the look of the model sheet going around, Trixie is wearing some kind of fancy jewel necklace. Its' probably some magic item that magnifies your magic, thus allowing Trixie to easily beat Twilight, cause havok, self-destruct when Twi comes back and tricks Trixie to overload, and then end with a princess Celestia letter about how you shouldn't cheat to win.
Cue the G.I.Joe zinger.
My vote:

Re: Ponythread LV:55 Ponythread learns Agility!
I thought about it, but the announcement came just too late for two episodes a day, and a packed-solid marathon would have to override my last class on Friday, the trip home, dinner, various family obligations, and sleep. So probably not.

Re: Ponythread LV:55 Ponythread learns Agility!
SpoilerEh, it's kinda weak, IMHO. Not because there are holes in the reasoning (though a lot of it is wishful thinking) but because it tailors screens to the thesis, instead of supporting it. For example, glowing eyes, for all we know each pony in that scene had them (only Twilight actually opened them) so AJ is next winged unicorn?
Same with armillary sphere (which has more than 5 planets) and tiara thing (Diamond Tiara for the win).
Pony episode synopses are always the initial premise, not the ending. So that one is only telling us the first half of the episode. Although I'd love to be wrong and see the status quo shaken up that much.
What will happen to their delicate heads if we *gasp* introduce this criminal element...
SpoilerContinuity!!!
SpoilerSince when generic liking others beats love between newly-weds?
Also, according to trading cards, Cadence is holder of Element of Harmony, love. If these were good enough for Discord/NMoon, Celestia isn't a problem
I don't have any problem with not liking the fan fiction or music (though I do have to watch myself sometimes since he has almost zero interest in the fic I just read no matter how amazing I think it is.) but now he's reluctant to even talk about the show, and has exspressed doubts about whether he's going to watch season 3.
All I can say is, since you can't pick family, try to talk like friends, not fans of one series? If you remind him of fandom in bad way, all you can do is to change his opinion by example, not forcing him. Make him forget about peer pressure. Still, I wouldn't avoid the series completely? It sounds like he is still a fan, just trying to realign his position somewhat.Come one, come all! GitP MLP Steam Group is open!

(Judging by the current going-ons, broken in more ways than one. )
I know, I know. I'm super-tired from a lot of things going on, and when I saw that sort of description, I couldn't help myself. To be honest, I'd probably have gotten it spoiled for me later anyhow, and I don't feel the future episode is ruined for me. I stand by my decision to spoil myself!

We've already had a LIV:E joke thread name, using the same joke for LVI would feel a bit lazy.
Which is a shame, as LIV:E and let Pie would have been a good suggestion, back then.

Re: Ponythread LV:55 Ponythread learns Agility!
Alright. Notepad ate the last half of this, both browsers crashed while trying get the rest back, and then my tab spontaneously closed mid-response in Jealousy and Ambition. So I'm guessing I should just stop for a spell, and forum later.
As such, here's what I have tat remains. Rassunfrassun.
Why would Deadly need to make an avatar of me? D=
Points for being able to read every post in these maddeningly fast threads.
To read all only hard if you feel pressured to stay "current". I define current, and am therefore never late. "arrive exactly when she means to, and not a moment sooner" and all that. I am a wizard, after all.
Oh, so we are naming them after planets again?
Oh I think most of us were quite mad well before this show started. For example, I can attest that one needs to be at least 51% crazy to run a long-standing RP tabletop game for a party that takes them from level 1 to 20 using 90% minimum homebrew campaign content.
Glad you survived alright through the storm. You should tell us your war story at some point. Faring against the winds, surviving against the lack of power, fighting off the zombieponies... okay maybe one of those wasn't a big issue.
That is a good point actually.
We are entering a new thread though, so I'll hold off a spell. Or well, that's my decision now, it will e justification after the fact when you hear it
But, now SiuiS is back, I expect the pace to pick up just on that alone!
(No, seriously, experience has shown that tends to create more discourse as everypony tends to back-and-forth a bit more, 'cos SiuiS tends to talk to everypony, so everypony tends to talk back and them talk to each other and so on and so on; which is a more noticable effect these days, with less regular posters than there used to be.)
Oh good it's not just me then.
Oh man ... well, if Deadly ever finds the time I'm sure he'd be happy to make Deadly a changeling avatar. But I hear he's kinda busy this month, trying to write like mad for NaNoWriMo. So far he's just barely keeping up with the daily goals, which he tells me is really annoying because with the time he sets aside for it he ought to be way ahead of the goal, but he keeps getting distracted.
Like last night, I saw him totally waste hours playing Canterlot Siege. He almost beat Discord on Advanced, even, but then the bastard just wandered off and that was like 3 in the morning.
He also got it in his silly head to try to program a pony screensaver, as if this was the best time to do something like that.*
Sometimes I just don't know what to do about him, you know?
Ahem.
Yeah . . .
Or is it;
Yeah…
Regardless! At leat he can somewhat prioritize. Keeping the minimum in his cemetery of tall buildings, for example. That can be pretty hard sometimes. I know I've been stalling on the final evolution of a binding oath in Oklahoma on account of a half-flank 'waiting on Soras' excuse.
The city may have lost an angel though. Sadness.
I actually don't quite buy that. It only works from a "unless something is specifically called out then it's not allowable, and you are not allowed to make logical inferences based on presentation of two points" point of view. Dispensing with that because it's lame, and if I get too lame Bleakbane will confuse me for Gilda and then shenanigans will ensue, this is the general framework from about 40 threads ago.
We know there's no such thing as a universal opinion. So we can surmise than very few ponies were around who appreciated Luna's night, but that they were around. And when it turns out that Luna was banished to the moon, no matter how justified the punishment, somepony is going to grumble about it.
There's an undercurrent of pro-lunar sentiment, or at least disillusionment with Celestia. It carries along like tradition, within the respective noble lines, and finally Luna returns! And so the courtiers set to her, plying her with cloying sweetness, a shoulder to cry on, and convince her that things really weren't so bad and Celestia was wrong to have behaved so harshly.
Eventually, the socially starved princess comes to believe it. Convinced that the system of governance is obsolete, Luna petitions Celestia for sweeping changes. After all, she did have a thousand years to think about whatever came to mind. Celestia, being smart enough to realize that Luna is being manipulated, tries to talk her down. Luna sees this as jealously guarding her power though and gets mad. Things escalate.
Eventually, Luna continues with her old plan, of founding a new kingdom of night-loving ponies. Only, not a kingdom, a monarchal (for now) republic! Luna will rule as head of state until the governance is established, and then allow those ponies whose merit allows them the position to be elected as senators.
Of course, while some of her followers honestly believe this is the right thing to do, or at least a good thing, the majority of the senators have simply chafed user Celestia's benevolence and want a chance at a throne. Even a shadow throne. Working both sides of the conflict through intermidiaries and pocket dignitaries, they set up just enough strife to validate going themselves power to run martial law...
Admittedly it's a better campaign setting than it is show canon, and Bad-Ass Luna, PRINCESS OOOF THE NIIIIIGHT blows it out of the water – she's a goddess and she is damn comfortable in that role – but as a hypothetical in which to work, it's pretty slick.
Yes. This. This must be done.
Yeah, just saying, but I think the fact that all y'all can talk about is S3 stuff maaay have something to do with the thread being abandoned.
There's a dearth of topic which makes it hard to tell the difference though.
Hot darn. Now I know what to get Thanq for eventual Christmas!
Apple Jackura!
ooh, nice.
This makes being an alicorn being an Archmage! Celestia doesn't micromanage due to the Pax Unicornia.
Sparkle's ascension is neigh!
I can dig it.
Sparkle ascension is akin to the discovery of the Americas or the fall of Atlantis, in that once she rises those pony towns will always have been there. Duh~
I actually prefer a soft Ascension feel over Awakening though. Celestia and Luna are seers of the throne (or hell, Exarchs? Nah) who keep their respective Exarchs placated with their antics. The alicorn of Seasons is no more, and so the exarch, discord, took it upon himself to enact changes. Were Celestia to be less aloof, Iton Hoof would free itself an perpetrate real evils of government.
But hey, enforcing a utopia where everypony is happy, fulfilled, has a good life and need never worry about more than an occasional misunderstanding is pretty awesome. And Mage the ascension was based on the 'enemy' being the good guys and the PCs being selfish guys who are all like, magic is free, maaaaan.
We only see the parents if/when it's narratively useful.
oh man, are your gears jammed?
We need oil!
I tried to be strong ponythread. I really did.*
But I finally broke down and peeked.
S3 Spoiler:
SpoilerMy gut instinct is to say that it's fake. That synopsis reads really weird, like it's almost too direct. I can see that being nearly half the episode given away right there. But with only an unverified line from a website to go off of, not much else I can say.
If it's real...hooooo boy will this be an episode and a half, one way or another.
On Screen. Rarity didn't have family until it would be funny and move the story along. Same with applejack.same with Fluttershy (who left her family and way o life behind to be a peacenik on the ground she – and by extension, probably they – had never seen or really knew existed. Dash left everything behind because he old life is strongly presented as wrapped up in old patterns of behavior and tracks she is avoiding. That's not "no family" that's "family isn't important to who they are as characters".
And as an aside, if you do put stock in Word of Faust, said word is not "AJs parents are dead" it's that they are out there but aren't important, and such an offscreen death could be a solution but there is no definitive answer, aside from "narrative convenience". And unlike an easily editable dA post, I was in the room listening over champagne when she said it. From her own lips!
XD
Nah, that falls apart at the show premise level. Doing so with children causes social, emotional an developmental problems severe enough that not even Dashie's or Fluttershy's crushing insecurity would compare. And the show is all about that stuff not being... Well, not being.
Still, interesting idea. I support it.
Funny thing is, before this Gangnam nonsense, that's been a western dance step for going on fifty years. Only instead of whirling a lasso, it was twirling your hat above your head. The steps usually involves shifting your weight to move in a circle though.
No, see, that doesn't make sense. Why would Power of Love benefit Celestia at all? It's not some handwavey nonsense, it's Chryssalis had her wheaties today, Celestia had... Nothing. And on Shining Armor's end, there is a difference between PoL, an having magic power directly passed to you from a sympathetic bond after a ritual designed to make two ponies, one.
Hehe. Yeah, I totally get the same thing. Halfway through an epic project, I just don't care no' mo'.
Still, this is pretty neat. Would I be able to stoke your fires enough to make the Guild of Chains section? As a picture, it would probably be a sweaty-looking Tale Spinner wringing his hooves while talking to a tied up Mask, in an alley. It was almost Noir, except too silly a setting to really feel that way. Oh, and a curled, peeling Recruitment Poster, featuring Lix's own Faithful Song artfully decorated with chains in a saucy pin-up style.
In fact, forget words 22–55 of that last paragraph.
Wow, nice! That grin. Creeee-py!
XD
What about the females? I'd vote to name those Natasha.
Dat Lyra! 8f
All my approval!
Is it? I was under the impression ALL animations were to be spoiled. They have a different effect on scrolling when active versus passive.
"How about THEM apples?" ?
I see. Nice. I personally have just used a double hyphen for cut offs, but only because I knew there was a rule and would get it wrong.
Sweet! Knowledge! Thanks, Ani~!
Heh. It's your language mate! We're just finally following the rules~
*cough* Anyway. I've been watch a whole lotta Adventure Time recently (Trying to finish the whole thing. I'm midway through series 3) so here's an Adventure Time pony pic.

No, I didn't come up with those names.

Spoiler
¡Me gusta!
Adventure time is fun, and a more direct version of what people thought MLP would be – a bright and cheery look at a postdystopian future.
No, she's more empathetic than that. A lot of the time they just roll with it, and honestly, she CAN'T force them. So it's highly doubtful.
By the way weren't you responsible for chibyfiying Bleakbane a while back? He certainly didn't want that to happen. Or is he just the sort of general exception to your rules?
One of the more outlandish necromancers of a Prime sphere I frequent recently began formulating similar theories, although he's having a hard time unsung evidence. And looking into his future timeline, he's gone from human to elf so I don't feel the need to rush him along. Needless to say, I plan on getting him in contact with Bleakbane at some point.
Anyway. No, Lix was responsible for turning me into Pinkie Pie for a while. Well, "responsible". I belayed her transformative spell in order to study the affects of Bleakbane believing he had altered me on a fundamental level. While I was preoccupied though, Bleakbane "fixed" his transformation. The end result was a strange juxtaposition of a deification transformation held in stasis by the outer ketheric shell of my aura, being driven in by the commadore's mana moulding and altering the nail in the process. it was entertaining? If exhausting.
XD
Man, I don't get this. It is probably because of my own peculiarities, but I only worry about what others think when it will lead to a fight, and ten only because I don't like fighting anymore. Er, fistfight not argument.
Ponies came out, I thought about the possibility of gender stuff for a while and after a minute just decided flick it, if I like the show I'll watch it. And laugh at people who are too weak to have the same resolve.
I also find that of someone is going to make a big deal out of something as small as a cartoon because it doesn't fit their happy little framework, I probably don't want to be their friend. People who engage in extensive change back behavior are hurdles to be surmounted.
On that note, it looks like a new Powerpuff Girls is official. http://www.fanpop.com/spots/powerpuf...e-not-released
it doesn't mention voice actors, but I can't imagine them not using the same ones.
I am so confused. Why would you not use the … symbol? Do you want the line to break between ellipsis dots?
What would that even look like for Bleakbane? You don't have to do it to him, but I have a desire to see art of the hypothetical.
Yeah, that's true. If it does start soon, though, I can scan my DVR for air times.
But it doesn't prevent line breaks. Does it? I mean, having a space between characters in most word processors allows for a break to happen. Having a single symbol with a space before and after would prevent such breaks.
Oh, but hard space is a specific function of its own. So this prevents a line from starting with an ellipsis. Okay.
Also, the full use of the different dashes, in case anyone is ever curious about this again.
Spoiler1. Hyphens
a. Hyphens are used to separate numbers that are not inclusive, such as telephone numbers and social security numbers;
b. Hyphens may also be used to separate the elements of a compound word if the word is hyphenated in the dictionary or if a hyphen is necessary to avoid confusion.
c. Hyphens are the shortest form of dash, and they look like this: -.
d. Hyphens are typed in from the keyboard. *
e. Hyphens should NOT have any spaces on either side.
f. Example: *A man-eating shark is a shark that eats humans.
2. En dashes
a. En dashes are used to connect continuing, or inclusive, numbers (such as page ranges). Note that en-dashes are distinct from hyphens!
b. En dashes are the medium-length form of dash, and they look like this: –.
c. To enter an en-dash on a PC, type: Ctrl + Num -. *OR, click on Insert→Symbols→Special Characters→En Dash.
d. To enter an en-dash on a Mac, type: Option -.
e. En-dashes should NOT have any spaces on either side.*
f. Example: See TRIBE, supra note 81, at 819–21.
3. Em dashes
a. Em dashes are used to set off separate phrases or clauses in text.
b. Em dashes are the longest form of dash, and they look like this: —.
c. To enter an em-dash on a PC, type: Alt+Ctrl+Num -. *OR, click on Insert→Symbols→Special Characters→Em Dash.
d. To enter an em-dash on a Mac, type: Shift+Option -.
e. IMPORTANT: *Em dashes should have a hard space beforehand and a regular space afterwards. *To enter a hard space on a PC, type Ctrl+Shift+Space. *To enter a hard space on a Mac, type Option+Space. *The hard space ensures that the em dash will not be separated by a line break from the word that precedes it. *The invisible character for a hard space is “°” as opposed to “·” which represents a regular space.
For me?

Uh, no. There is a difference between a guy not wearing pants, and a guy getting your attention and using position and body language to focus your eyes on his genitals.

Sure, with bullets. From now on, it's pollitical.
This is the same national school system which is considering making 's the proper form I pluralization (such that book becomes book's) and which is considering not teaching basic arithmetic up through multiplication and division because "kids will always have A calculator handy" and so should rewrite higher math to present things in easily equatable forms.
Uh, spoilers, guys.
Alicorn meant not the horn but the material thereof. It wouldn't be like calling a car a tire, it would be like calling a car fiberglass – which is not incorrect for a fiberglass car.
The rest of the argument falls apart on this point.
And time immemorial? Please. Alicorn has colloquially referred to a winged, horned equine creature for roughly a century now. My grandmother knows what an alicorn is (a horned Pegasus), and being the material of the horn is an older etymology from which this derives, but that's language.
Uh, no. That is not what a quantum computer does and is defined by. That is what a printer is defined by. Which does not answer how a quantum computer does nothing even vaguely resembling imprinting, which means that calling a quantum computer a printer is much, much farther removed from what you're equating it to, in that there is nothing when remotely imprint-esque about such a device.
Several things actually. All other things being equal, the bigger guy in a fight wins. Nightmare Moon had some size on Celestia, but even if they were actually the same....
Aggression makes up for a lot. It's actually one of the first things military service tries to drive into you. The most aggressive guy out for the most blood and willing to do the most will win.
The sheer fact that Celestia could hesitate for half a second, while NMM would be willing to straight murder her sister on accident by applying full force in hopes of knocking her down means NMM has a huge advantage. HUGE.
Oh, come. On.
There's debate and there's pedantic sophistry. Are you really going to assert that wings – lateral expanses in themselves – are not winglike lateral expanses?
You haven't made your case, you've maintained momentum. Obfuscation which convinces opposition to beleaguer the wrong point isn't a success, it's a diversion.
And what exactly stopped Celestia with dealing with dragon on secluded mountain? House zoning laws? By that line of thinking, ancient unicorns had power far outstripping modern ones
You're a vampire, hon. suffering is sort of what you're designed for. Either feeling or inflicting.
Also, god, Season 3 spoiler dodging is pretty damn tricky round here, isn't it?
Suddenly TaleSpinner becomes terrifying.
Little Mermaid meets Sly Captain and the World of Tomorrow?
Though my Season 3 wish is to see Celestia go all out on an opponent after that opponent hurts Twilight.
The ponies solving problems nonviolently is a core tenant of their world. If the writers finally give that up in favor of "**** Yeah, Ass Kicking!" It will be the greatest Megalodon Jump of all time.
I want to see similar, yeah. But I know it would be bad if it happened, that the one moment of satisfaction wouldn't be worth the cost.

Ponythread LVI:S Has Left the Playground!
Ponies not only make ME want to be a better person than I was before they entered my life, they make me want to HELP OTHERS be better people too.
And that is a GOOD thing by any definition.

Siuis - I'll entertain requests, sure. You might need to explain who any of those ponies are, though.

He did mention that these ships would die eventually. and I got the impression that they were being thrown up as sort of a 'fake' military. You know building a bunch of weak troops so the AI won't declare war on you?
Stay strong!
I'd love to but I've got so much to do this week.
I think Chrysalis got cocky and thought that nothing could beat her after she caught the Mane 6

@SiuiS: regarding Celestia giving a beatdown: I don't want more then what we've seen Twilight do and it doesn't even have to be violent. Basically I want to see Celestia 'rescue' Twilight and to see Celestia concerned for Twilight.Spoiler: I'm a writer!Spoiler: Check out my fanfiction[URL="https://www.fanfiction.net/u/7493788/Forum-Explorer"here[/URL]
