Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
I don't know either, but Nimmel and the other students are tiny. I don't know if Tara, Prento and those other guys are in magic college or magic high school (the latter would mean the Deegans brought a bunch of teenagers into this), but Nimmel is an adult. But somehow, when Mookie draws any of them, they're noticeably shorter than regular Dominion Apes.
Also, I was impressed to see an actual circle in this comic and not some entirely hand-drawn wobbly oblong shape. But then I noticed that this sphere looks a bit small for 11 people in panel 1, and I wondered...

So she's making her Runt Transformation where she turns into an uncontrollable madwoman? Here's hoping Mookie hasn't completely forgotten about that.

btw, wasn't Klo Tark a very strong psion with the ability to project his mind through dimensions? Quite a **** move that he never bothered to call his people and tell them that there might be a way for them to return.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Can they send information back in time just by looking at a vision?
Well, there was that weird time loop thing in SOS when Dominic somehow sent information back in time...
Wait, if Dominic can send information back in time, can't he solve all this just by sending all the information about the evil king to past Miranda?

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
I was distracted by Mookie being too lazy to adjust his compass earlier, but upon review of what came out of the talking heads explaining Mookie's incomprehensible scribblings to the readers I must say that this is bad writing even for this comic.
"Good thinking, Katya! You actually know who you are and what abilities you possess! Why, when I was in the Tempest, I had to be reminded by Dominic. And more good thinking! Magic solves everything! Yes, we'll just use some kind of unspecified magic we don't really understand! O beloved wonder dog, you sure know a lot of tricks."
What with how little sense the hurried plot advancements Mookie has been writing lately make, the recent incidence of "Good thinking, [Dominion Ape]!" could almost be considered a sign of Mookie mocking us now. But of course, like the "Up yours!" of a few arcs back, it's all because everyone is Mookie and he's probably been using that phrase a bit lately.
Well...
...
...ah...
...
...there really isn't a way he could do that, is there?Last edited by Johnny Blade; 2012-11-30 at 06:43 PM.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
I'm curious.
We don't have a chance to understand what's going on because of the blank background, and the lack of any information. We got used to it.
This time, the characters also don't know if it's for real of just a vision.
The same characters who cast the spell, don't know if it teleported them or just allowed them to see the past.
And this is considered to be "gifted students"?

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Yeah I was thinking prettyt much the same thing. NEW THEORY TIME!
Im going old fashion cheap cop out coma theory. It fits so well with mookies personality. The problem is, Dom is the only actual person in the story now. He has already suffered from mind break and this entire storyline has all been in his head. Thats why it has made even less sense than we expect from your average bad comic. As evidence I offer this into consideration. Now that Dominic is no longer sure whats real and what isnt. Suddenly all his mental figments are equally confused when they have no reason to be. Its like one of those dreams you have while close to waking up. Everything keeps changing but you dont have enough awareness to realize its fake even though it feels wrong.
Alternatively, the people used to be real, but Dom actually went into mind break during the whole he gets fired, no mavpel stupidity. So yeah, this explains why the comic seems to just be getting stupider. Its all a carefully contrived setup by mookie to demonstrate doms slow slide into brain dead status. He has been losing his ability to understand reality and how it should work, so his characters are acting more and more oddly, and so are the bad guys.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Why are we skipping between these two scenes?
Usually, when skipping like that, it's to show two groups race to one goal.
So I'd understand if it would be between the king and Miranda's group.
But jumping between the king and a group of students who try to scry for something? What's the purpose of that?

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Obviously, it's because they're both scrying on the same thing. Nimmel et al got blown off-course by the Tempest and are now accelerating towards Dom & DJ's scrying point at breakneck speeds. In tomorrow's comic, they'll accidentally bump into Dominic's soul and send it hurtling into the Heart of Magic. Dominic will achieve apotheosis instantly, while the ensuing magical backlash annihilates DJ, Snuggly, and the Cattlebasters.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Nice copy-pasting in the first panel. I guess drawing all those extra circles was just too much effort to repeat it, which I assume is also one reason why they simply disappear in the second panel.
That and Mookie probably really doesn't have circle templates that are big enough, so when he wants to show people as more than black blots, the outer circles have to disappear. And we just have to accept that some people, or at least parts of their bodies, simply phase out of existence now and then when the sphere is too small to hold all 11.
Also, marvel at a newspost that doesn't make everything worse:
The past few years, during December, I've done "holiday special" sales in the Seer's Catalog to boost sales for the month. But I've decided not to do that this year.
Between Black Friday, Black Thursday, and the barrage of "WE'RE HAVING A HOLIDAY SALE!" emails I've been receiving from every major retail store I've ever shopped at, the consumerism of December has really hit me this year and I don't want to be a part of it.
Whichever holiday you celebrate, this time of year should be about giving, not about receiving the best deals on retail items.
So in the spirit of that, instead of trying to get you folks to buy more stuff from me, I'm going to be donating money out of my own pocket to various charities, such as RAINN, the RED CROSS and the ASPCA. If it's within your budget to give to these or other charities, please do so.
You all have already given me so much love and support over the past decade. I feel in these final months of the comic it would be greedy of me to ask for anything more from you.
That's all from me for now.
Rock on.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
maybe we could get him a drafting compass as a group gift from all of us for the holidays? Not that I'm really sure what those circles meant in the first place. A floating platform? an obscure metaphor ala Flatlandia(*) for how awesome this group is?
(*) Not that I believe Mookie would have thought of it.Last edited by guttering flame; 2012-12-03 at 05:00 AM.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
If Mookie doesn't have the right drafting tools, why not just use whatever drawing program he's using and make the circles digitally? There's no reason for him not too, since he already uses the paint bucket tool for his black backgrounds.
