Yeah, it's comic someone did for laughs, but still... It's much more realistic, IMHO, than wishful thinking that somehow everything will be okay, mostly through grasping at whatever spell can 'fix' stuff.

You know, I had some new thoughts on this matter in the light of Equestria Girls and Comic #9, but since these wouldn't interest anyone (talking about ponies? In this thread? What crazy idea was that? ) I'd only say well written story to me has one thing - consequence. If hero is making a choice, there should be repercussions to it, costs to be paid. They can be conquerable in the end, but if they are absent, the story is just not there.

"Twilight was upgraded by Celestia", mostly without consent or information? Well, in good story, that should make some splash in the pond. Making it just 'you're Twilight 2.0, totally awsum and radikal, and nothing unexpected/bad/problematic will ever come out of it' is not good story, it is writing the other Twilight with sparkly vampires that got Sueish upgrades thrown at them as the plot and author's whim demanded. With great power comes great struggle, remove that and you drop to a level of 12 year old making first ever fanfic, IMHO.

Which is also why I believe ending of S3 was horribly rushed, virtually any thing with consequence of note there was Twilight mindlessly casting dangerous spell, then what should have been two more episodes was pushed into 8 minute speed run.

Assassin makes zero thematic sense. Lancer or Rider are the only two that really fit, but both have some weirdness with needed equipment.

Um... But the thing is, lance/mount are first requirement for these. Like casting spells for wizards is. And it can't be just any random stick or horse - in Fate/SN and Fate/Zero lancers wield most legendary spears in Irish history, while riders have the pegasus (first and original one) and most well known and legendary horse of antiquity, horse that was supposedly gift from gods, horse that also got burial fit of king and a whole city founded just to oversee it. Make it just a stick and it will be useless against heroic spirit.

I'd also want to note that F/SN assassin, Kojiro, and Fate/Extra Li Shuwen were both 'in your face' people wearing bright clothes, that never did any assassination in life but just had stealth skills and secret techniques. Just like Rainbow Dash

Well that's more or less typical of his whole shtick. He nitpicks the crap out of things and even points out a lot of stuff that arguably isn't a sin at all. Usually though it's a lot more playful IMO. This time there was, well like you said, a lot of bile.

Eh, I don't mind nitpicks, but I'd expect them to make even a tiny amount of sense. Niticking something movie hammered ten times as impossible is just dumb, IMHO

Since you're familiar with the other games can you tell if the Archers are like Thanqol said? Highly equipment based champions in comparison to the other heroes?

Uh... The thing is, they are sorta dependent on their gear...

...but it's because Archers have lower base stats and generally are useless in melee. They use that equipment to bridge the gap to Knight classes, but certainly don't discard it lightly+, don't engage in melee*, and all prefer highly skilled ranged combat. So, these parts were pretty much all wrong.

+They might have legendary ammunition, but none of them expend resources as liberally as Emiya so he is an outlier, not a base in class.

*Note - if you summon someone extremely strong like Hercules or mentioned before Indian archer they have to some extent capability to engage weak melee hero, but they are still better at just shooting him to death.

Also, when I thing about if, Emiya's bow / broken phantasm and Gilgamesh's Gate / Ea are four strongest weapons of the two, and none of them is melee in nature, sorry.

I think it's ambiguous on the speed part since the main character is able to keep up with him anyways. The point was that despite Saber completely outclassing him, he did manage to win a duel using surprise and an unusual technique that she struggled to understand.

Did he keep up? IIRC he just slowly beat Shiro to death as he wasn't able to do anything but trying general parries, inffectively, until someone else dealt with this problem for him.

Though, Nasu is very poor at imagining speeds - Spirits move at the above speed of sound, but somehow, none of how it should look like is in the game, instead speed is just slightly above human

To be fair I'm saying he'd be able to beat a spirit if that spirit was denied all of their equipment. That the nearly all of the heroes are equipment based and denying them that is a huge drop of power for most of them.

But the thing is - their equipment only matters when trying to penetrate defense of other heroes. Against humans, they have blinding speed, nearly impossible defence, can turn invisible/gaseous at will, and in general can beat someone to death even with bare hands. Against hero with any kind of magic (and these were common, even lancer or saber had spells, weak against other spirits, one hit kills against humans)? You can forget it.

I can think of 3 examples of extremely deadly humans, Kuzuki, Kotomine, and Bazett, all experienced martial artists with magical weapons, and they all got their behinds handed to them by heroes not paying even full attention...

Actually Assassin makes for a pretty hilarious joke as well. She's supposed to be stealthy and using sneak attacks and instead she fights and acts more like Rider from Fate/Zero.

In fact, if we discount Hashashin, pretty much all Fate assassins were kind of joke at that job... :P

Well I still maintain that Twilight was the one who upgraded herself to Alicorn and thus Princess. Celestia certainly enabled her to do so but Twilight became an Alicorn by doing what she loved, creating magic and being with her friends. I'd say it was more then likely that Twilight would have ended up following the same path even if Celestia had done nothing at all.

Regardless I'm perfectly fine with the idea of Twilight outliving her friends. I just don't think that'll be the WORST POSSIBLE THING! as so many other people seem determined to think. Sure outliving your friends sucks, but Spike has a very very long lifespan ahead of him, you've got 3 other ponies who will live just as long as you, and there's nothing stopping you from making new friends.

That is a really cool design.

Rainbow Dash is a legendary pegasus. I can see the magic getting confused and skipping over the Rider part. After all it's only supposed to summon humans in the first place. Still Assassin is also hilarious as an option. Pinkie Pie on the other hoof would be a terrifying Assassin.

He did do that to Shiro, but I'm talking about his fight with Saber. He managed to land hits and even win that one duel due to his unconventional technique and being incredibly skilled. Even Shiro was able to deflect blows from Servants so it's not beyond human ability to land a blow or deflect one, just incredibly hard and it's hardly a winning ability to do so.

Sure, I'm not saying it would be easy or that they'd be weaker then a human. It just puts them at a point where a human can win with extreme difficulty rather then essentially having no chance at all.

Eh, there was mentioned that hero age is determined by class. If someone was good with bow when young, then with sword when old, he will be different age based on Archer / Saber class. So, you have got a lot of leeway here, simply pick best / most dramatic fit for Rainbow Dash, and that's it...

Regarding the Fate/stay pony discussion, if people are still trying to match them up aside from Caster nopony makes a clear candidate and you have to invent lots of things to do it. That said here's my own take:

Saber: The class of all around best stats, wave motion swords of doom, and cute blond girls with the same face. This lends itself in my mind mostly to AJ who's the generally most competent of the ponies. Also the fartherst from over magic befitting a high MR class, while second best with animals thus fitting Riding.

Archer: The class of missile weapons and independence, but the two chief examples are also rule breaking and being awesomely OP'd. Because she has a party cannon (among other missile use) and no respect for the common rules of expectation, plus high senses... its Pinkie Pie. She can take Independent Action, from reality.

Lancer: The class of speed rather oddly but known for their mobility and not much else for whatever reason. I think this makes a natural fit for Dashie as by far the swiftness of our mane six. She also rather matches Lancer's own attitude.

Rider: Well its just a little silly to have ponies have mounts themselves so this class requires a bit of reintpretation. However if anyone is able to summon aid from a Phantasmal Species it would have to be Fluttershy. Who also as our other pegasus retains a certain element of mobility. And well this happened, makes far far far too much sense on many levels.

Caster: Duh!

Assasin: Both because of a bit of missing options and being the only other class with a call for much you know, subtlety and grace... Yeah its Rarity of course. Also fits an elegant (though BS) example like Kojiro and a crossover with magic like Semiramis.

Berserker: Oh no out of ponies right? Yeah but we do have a character that's actually gone on a rampage before with enhanced abilities related too that. So yeah its Spike.

Also special rule breaking extra that shouldn't be but shows up anyways.

Obviously you have to put in quite a bit to make this actually work as only Dashie has anything close to a decent Noble Phantasm. Consequently I think she could go in several classes, like Saber as she's arguably the strongest in a fight. However I think this balances everything fairly well.

Honestly, I'm not sure what my headcanon is on Twilight's immortality status. All I really know is that I got tired of Sad Immortal Twilight before it ever really started.

I'm not opposed to it. And it fits pretty well. I don't particularly like the idea as I'd much prefer her friends staying as normal ponies, or rather not all of them ascending. I could handle alicorn Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash and Applejack I don't think should ascend.
