Default Contingency Plan Code: Kefka Palazzo (Batman VS Kefka)

    Contingency Plan Code: Dancing Mad
    Subject: Kefka Palazzo

"Contingency Plan Code, Dancing Mad, Subject: Kefka Palazzo."
As the god of magic, Kefka Palazzo, formally a betrayer general of the Ghestalian Empire, has ruined his own world, now referred to often as "The World Of Ruin" thanks to his machinations and destructive powers. He is god of magic, which in his native world is the ultimate source of power, and an enormously destructive force. His powers include elemental offensive spells, poisons, earth quakes, telekinesis, and pure mystical destruction in the form of one of his strongest spells, fittingly named "Ultima", but one of his abilities, the spell which has made him most infamous is the dreaded "Light Of Judgment". Once Kefka unleashes this spell, which takes the form of a highly destructive, coherent laser, not only destroys it's target utterly through sheer force, but has the added effect of conjuring monsters wherever it strikes. Kefka has the minimum power to carve out large islands away from entire continents, and has used his telekinetic abilities to ragdoll his enemies, in addition to inflicting his magic via quick incantations."

"An Anti-Kryptonian suit, covered in anti-magical hieroglyphics engraved by Doctor Fate, should be sufficient to cancel out Kefka's powerful magic, or at least act as a dampener to weaken his spell's effects. Meanwhile, the suit, out fitted to face a fully powered Kryptonian one on one in mortal combat, will have to suffice in putting Kefka Palazzo down. A simple fight to the death should be implemented to take the God of Magic down once and for all. His extreme nihilism is a danger to the entire planet, and there is no other way to confront him."

    The Rules:
Batman has 1 year of Prep, he only has DCEU resources. This is NOT the comics version.
Who wins, why or why not?

As a joke answer: that adequately trained normal humans can defeat him by hitting him with swords enough times, I think Batman could win with adequate armor and punching him enough.

I replayed the final battle of FF6 recently at level 70 or so and realized it was so much easier to win if I just used Attack over and over again instead of special moves or spells.

More serious: Batman's main thing to need would be allies who can heal AND/OR a way to bypass Kefka's ability to render you to 1 HP then hit you hard. Maybe the anti-magic dampener would work for that--I think you can evade the attack.

The problem is that Kefka derived his power from the Warring Triad, which never existed in our world. In the World of FF6 he is godlike; in the world of Gotham he's just another clown. Batman knocks him out with one punch, and he "commits suicide" in prison courtesy of the Joker, since Gotham already has its quota of homicidal, insane murderers in makeup

If we grant Kefka SOME degree of magical power, then Batman will have to confront him the same way he confronted Mister Mxyzptlk , a magical adversary in the DC-verse who had his magic stolen from him by the Joker.

I think this is where we would have to go with this: Batman needs some technique or technology to neutralize magic. If he can discover something like Celes' Runic ability, Kefka could be taken with a three-person party: One person to cast runic, one person to throw high-value healing items such as X-potion, one person to do the actual damage. Assuming Runic can't be performed by a device, in which case the party can be reduced to two.

The assumption here is that Kefka is going to be meeting a batman in a meeting engagement; he's a stranger in this world with neither allies and a fraction of his power. If he showed up at his full power from the WoR then he's a civilization-ending threat and this would bring a response from ALL DC characters, superheroes and supervillains alike. Not to mention a response from ordinary peoples, which includes nuclear-armed superpowers.

And of course if Kefka can travel to the DC verse that implies Batman might be able to travel to the World of Ruin; he brings back Terra wielding a celestriad + soul of Thamasa, who continually chains Quick+Ultima to absolutely melt kefka. That's very similar to my own strategy for killing Kefka in that game (fight brachiosaurs to level, acquire ribbons and economizer/celestriad, final party of four
quick+ultima chaining to wipe all enemies).

UPDATE: As seen in Quora excerpts , Batman can apparently shut down magic use for 60 minutes using a technique learned from Zatanna . He also has the ability to reverse magic. This wouldn't be his first rodeo against either superhuman characters or magical ones.

The bottom line is that it's very easy to write this as a curbstomp for either character, depending on what abilities you allow and what abilities you discount; it wouldn't be hard to nullify Batman's existing magical counters because, again, Kefka is from another world where magic works differently.

The basic strategy on Batman's side, when confronting a new threat, would be to scout, to reconnoiter, to uncover as much information about his adversary as possible, then put together a plan using his billionaire resources to take the opponent down. Kefka is cunning, but he's never really shown that kind of long-range planning or intelligence. If the playing field between him and Batman is at all level, Batman will eventually win. If Kefka is going to be overpowered , again, that brings a response from the entire DC Universe, not just Batman.

    Respectfully,

    Brian P.
