Hold your own horses and don't make me sound so bloodthirsty. You'll notice I said, "if it falls within the bounds of our mission." If these creatures are part of the force defending this stronghold we have to get into or some of its creations, we will likely be put in a situation where their deaths are necessary. If they have nothing to do with us, I won't seek them out and they will be left to their conflict with these folks. In which case, it seems only polite to wish our hosts luck in defeating those that have spoiled their hunting.

Merien

Merien nods. "And on our own, we don't have the numbers for a frontal assault to be an option. Your people might be capable of one, but I'm sure neither of us wants to throw away their lives if we can achieve our objective by stealth."

"Of course, it would be best to end with the outpost destroyed or under your control; that way, you may take what you like from the ruins. But we need to know how heavily the outpost is defended before we can make any definite plans." She spreads her hands again in a shrug.

"Whatever it is, it isn't fighting. None of them have been harmed in the least, and they haven't moved much in a while."

"I have some ideas as to what we might try, but we really need to know more about the target before we say for sure. If you would tell us anything you know about it would be very appreciated."

Outside
"Elders keep their word. Honorable!", the rat you have been talking to says.
You hear steps of a group of creatures entering the storage. Hissing voices exchanging in agressive tones are accompanied by pathetic squeaks. The sources of the voices come closer to you through the piles of crates.

Inside
"As far as we know, the place is well defended for such a remote outpost. We caught some of their supply transports in the past. They make good food for our people. If you are really as skilled in combat as Rak described, we should even be able to stand up a frontal assault.", the white elder says while straining himself to stand up from the ground.
"We prefer surprise attacks though.", he combs his fingers through the longer beard-like fur on his chin while walking up and down behind the half-circle of the other elders.
"Tell us what you know about that post. Do you have any hints on how to get inside unseen? Or have you gone on this mission without any preparation at all?"

Daren

"Your elders had better keep their word, or they will pay for their trechery until the end of time."

We have no reason to believe they would break their word. It sounds like everyone inside is staying calm and hopefully having a productive conversation. Gesturing towards the sound of the approaching footsteps, Alrik asks the so-far more talkative rat Friends of yours? Waiting for an answer, Alrik keeps one eye on Richard's fireballs, both impressed by the sight and wary that Richard's boredom might send one of them in his direction.

"We have just as little reason to believe they will keep their word. Trust is a dangerous thing if you put it where it isn't deserved."

A deep voice echos around the room "I have a plan" The voice comes from Crispy still sitting in Merien's arms "I belive that my group should make a agresive strike at the outpost and draw out their defenders; into the ambush that you have prepared..."

Isidro stares incredulously at Crispy for a moment. Finally, Isidro raises the holy symbol at his wrist and extends his arm, thrusting the symbol at Crispy as if warding off a vampire. With his arm firmly outstretched, Isidro turns his face back to the elder and continues as if nothing had happened. "Elder, I regret to say that we do not know how to enter the guildhouse unseen. However, we will scout it out and tell you of our findings as soon as we can. His" - Isidro gestures with the holy symbol without looking at Crispy - "battle plan is certainly viable, but it may be better if my group inspects the guildhall before making a final plan."

"An ambush... Yes that is something my people are adept at, but with this strategy we would probably face the major part of their forces at once."

Outside
The voices turn out to be five heavily wounded rat people that seem very familiar to you. One of them is taller and wears the spiky growths.
As they see you they start to shriek and draw their weapons, but one of the rats around you jumps over Alrik and runs into their direction with raised arms and with a hasty voice seems to be trying to explain something in their language.

Merien

Merien is unruffled by the abrupt voice coming from the rabbit in her arms. "Further planning can wait until we know more," she says firmly. "That might work, or we might be able to pick off the defenders one by one without alerting the rest of them. We won't know until we've investigated their defenses more thoroughly. We do have an ally who can get some of us into the complex, and he may have found out more by now. Other than that, several of us have talents that can be used to gather information. We should wait until we have done that to make a more detailed plan. But do I take it that you would be willing to aid us, if an acceptable strategy can be devised?"

Daren's hand is on his sword hilt in a flash, ready to draw should the rats attack.

Subtly settling into the Island of Blades stance in case these new rats should be a problem, Alrik allows himself to speculate aloud on what those rats are being told and why they seem hostile.
Daren, these new rats; what do you think the odds are that they were at they fight we had and they ran away? I thought I saw some doing that but not well enough to get a clear look at them. That would explain why they seem so unhappy to see us.

Delnar picks up a lively whistling tune as he waits.

"The odds? Pretty good." Daren is clearly a hair's breadth from drawing his blade, ready should the newcomers attack.

"An ambush might draw out all of their forces at once, yes. But I believe we can destroy a great number of the enemies very rapidly, using magic. I feel that such an ambush would be the best approach."
