The Solar dodges the black beam as it leaps into the air. After drawing too close for comfort, the angelic being mumbles a single word under its breath.

For whatever reason you hear that word as clearly as if it had been shouted into your ear, and you go deaf and blind.

    Spoiler

Holy Word. The angel is about 35 ft away, flying at 20' height.

I don't believe you're immune to either of those conditions, but correct me if I'm mistaken.

Ashtoreth frowns for a moment then smiles at the Solar. Then she sends another black beam at it, a different type of necromancy from her repertoire.

If I can't destroy you at once, I can drain your soul, herald of divine wickedness.

The angelic being shrugs off the attack, seemingly unfazed. He returns with a spell of his own, a wave of positive energy that surges through you.

I'm sure you expected a...Mass Heal.

    Will save DC 28

Well, that sucks. But if the Solar didn't ignore the Enervation, it might have lost the spell.

It didn't ignore it. It lost many spells, in fact, and all of the other effects. But Enervation isn't the sort of spell that's going to make the most powerful angels curl up and cry, so he shrugged and kept fighting.

As I said to someone else: you only know what is perceptible to your character's senses.

(but if it lost the 7 highest spell slots, how is it casting mass harm heal? And his caster level should have been 13, not 20. As a character, Ashtoreth doesn't know that. But as a player, I find it odd.

BTW, if a single-target spell fails, the caster knows why it failed.)

Spell-like ability. Wish. Not lost to Enervation. Thrilling, isn't it? As DM, I ruled that since the Solar's spell-like abilities are fundamentally religious, its Wish can reproduce divine spells. Wish is such an open-ended spell that it's not even a stretch.

However I did forget that Mass Heal was 9th level, and thus beyond Wish's ability to reproduce. Thus, we'll say it was a Mass Cure Critical Wounds, damage being now (4d8+13)[22] and we're done.

    ~Gabriel

P.S. And I already said it didn't fail. Miss that, or something?

Ashtoreth scowls at the Solar then tries another avenue of attack; she employs a spell of Banishment, actually altering reality to make it more powerful.

    I said begone! So go!

    Spoiler

Miracle, replicating Banishment. I do have banishment as a normal spell but using this for the higher DC. Will save DC 30.
