I've been up for WAAY too long, so if I'm wrong here, I apologize. But...

Starting a Grapple, step 3

If you succeed, you and your target are now grappling, and you deal damage to the target as if with an unarmed strike.

It's not until next round you can bite, if you're still in the grapple.

If you're grappling...

Attack Your Opponent

You can make an attack with an unarmed strike, natural weapon, or light weapon against another character you are grappling. You take a -4 penalty on such attacks.

Ah, ok - by "deal damage," does that forgoe an attack roll? As my minimum damage is 9 with my fist, that's really unconcious for a wizard with 3 hp.

And yes, it means you deal damage as per an unarmed strike.
For medium sized creatures, the standard unarmed strike damage is 1d3+ Str.
Your current Str is 26. 18+4(rage)+2(Animal Devotion)+2(Shift)

That would make current damage, barring other abilities which increase/modify unarmed strike damage, at 1d3+8 nonlethal damage.
