After about 10 minutes, you hear dreadful screams. A group of almost 25 bipedal lizards, each about the size of a human, is terrorizing the town square. Guards have set up blockades at each exit from the square to prevent the monsters from leaving, but they are currently tearing up the humans inside.

Jallorn starts to descend, calling, "Everyone link hands, I'll get you out of here." And readies to cast greater teleport once everyone's linked up.

Err... How can they get linked up when they're all being ripped apart by human-sized "bipedal lizards"?

Jallorn descends, remaining airborne, and casts mass enlarge person, calling out, "Don't kill the lizards." He also readies an action to cast hold person on anyone who tries to do that.

The humans are suddenly much bigger and stronger. The lizards, however, are still far better equiped for battle. Jumping, they tear at the peopl with their claws.

These are Raptors. They take down Huge and even Gargantuan dinosaurs. Large people aren't gonna do much.

Do symbols need to be read to be activated?

Jallorn casts Symbol of Sleep on a wall, then tells one of humans to read it.

Every human and dinosaur suddenly falls asleep as the rune takes effect.

Suddenly, one of the buildings collapses, and a great three-horned lizard rushes in. It seems unaffected by the Symbol, and threatens to trample some of the people and animals.

Actually, the spell has a casting time of ten minutes.

You have all the time you want, but the people being ripped apart don't.

That's what I meant, do they have time for me to cast the spell?

Can I cast Suburst in the air so it doesn't do damage, but still blinds and disorients them?

Sure, but if 1 raptor makes the save, half the people are dead.

OK, but what is the DC, etc.? You need to post this stuff for every spell you cast.
