Ongoing Games (In-Character)Play-by-post games are going on in this forum as we speak (well, read). All threads on this board are actual games, so please, only post on a thread if you are a player of that game.
LaGouf can tell that the people of these lands feared the evil Camazotz, lord of the Derro, and they worshiped Bahamut and a sun god lost to time. The blue light was considered a gift to the gods, and was always with their high priest.
Then the plagues came, and they overwhelmed the people, who had begun to turn away from the blue light.
Ott, on the other hand, can tell that there may be... a trap of some sort in the hallway...
"As far as I can tell... these symbol tell of an ancient people who worshipped a certain sun god named Bahamut... this part here says of great fear of Camazotz... lord of the Derro... ah... this blue light was used by their high priest... a gift to the gods it seems... then some 'plagues' arrived, and they abandoned the blue light"
Turning around to the others he says
"Well, that's what I can make out of these symbols... for what they are worth... ancient text always have a tendency to over exaggerate events..."

All Hail Doom!
Celp tells the others, "I noticed Bahamut as well. The sun god was also a dragon. They seemed to prefer draconic gods here. Very stylish.
"If you see anything to do with the god Tanner, be careful. The people who wiped these people out worshipped Tanner. Any presense of the god's symbols may mark a trap or some other source of ill will."
Camazotz is represented by a demonic looking bat.
Yurbe Newac is a LG god of Vengence and Fear represented by a black stylized bat on a yellow disk.
Tanner is represented by a butterfly. There are 8 Tanners:
The Mage (CN), with his prismatic butterfly.
The Lifegiver (NG), with her white butterfly.
The Cold (TN), with his Blue butterfly.
The Beast (TN), with his green butterfly.
The Trickster (LE), with her black butterfly being killed by a scorpion.
The Red Death of Extinction (NE), with his red butterfly.
The Gallant (LG), with his golden butterfly.
The Madness (CE), with a moth.
Also. The people who wiped out the Ch'Tallans? It was the Grand Dragon Empire. Your ancestors, with the exception of Ott and LaGouf. Some of the elves, dwarves, adu'ja and dragons who did it are still alive. Without the Ch'Tallans being killed off, the Blue Desert, including Blue City, would not exist.
And the symbol under the butterfly? It was a wizard under a Red Butterfly and a knight under a white butterfly. A paladin lead the assault.
Hope that bodes well with you.
Ott
Spoiler
You may trigger the trap and reset it at the bottom or disable it now. It is a spiral staircase, mind. You can't see past the twelveth step. The staircase here seems taller than it needed to be, the ceiling being ten feet high.
Celp discusses most of the things he remembered of history with the party. He leaves out any information about Ott and LaGouf's ancestors. Then he mentions, "We may want to travel carefully in this land. We are, literally and symbolically, descendants of the people who wiped out the original inhabitants here. I hate that.
"I just hope they haven't set up any traps specifically for people like us."
Celp also points out Tanner, Bahamut, and Azuatl's symbols to everyone that doesn't already recognize them.
Sorry, I edited the info there. Also... don't make it known that you know LaGouf is at least decended from Van Jhalans. Still, you, Fegris, Kari and Karrik are all Altieretians. Meaning you all are from the Grand Dragon Empire.
Moving way back from Ott as the rogue sets off the trap says towards Celp, "Considering the condition of the area around here, I doubt that there is anyone left. And if there was I don't think they'd be happy to see us now even if we were one of their allies during that war."
