Re: [Steam] Thread XIII: The World's #1 Forum-Themed Hat Acquisition Simulator
When you bring out the wrangler, your sentry will automatically get the bubble and will follow your mouse movements. So if I am pointing at this door, the sentry is also pointing at it. It also emits a red/blue laser when you are doing this.
If you hit M1, then the sentry will fire. M2 is for rockets.
I don't know what the ammo count is for, but it is at 32.

Well, I've been lurking and playing on Chocolate Hammer for a while, should go ahead and introduce myself. My Steam name is SmiteKnight and I own Team Fortress 2. It's a great server you guys have, especially with copious amounts of Redfort.

*RAGE*
The Steam servers are too busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes. (For the last ten minutes.)
EDIT: Solution is is to go to Settings -> Download/Cloud then change your location to somewhere else. Update downloaded and now I can play.Last edited by Valaqil; 2010-07-08 at 09:30 PM.

Re: [Steam] Thread XIII: The World's #1 Forum-Themed Hat Acquisition Simulator
Alright, now that my engineer has a remote control, a robot hand, and a cool shotgun, I'm gonna steer clear of TF2 for a while. I've been feeling like it's a bit of a cluster**** recently anyway, and hundreds of engineers running around won't help that.
Besides, I have three single-player games to finish and three waiting in the wings.

The Southern Hospitality is craftable with an ambassador and scrap metal.
Its stats are:
+ 5 seconds bleed damage
- No crits
- 20% Extra Vulnerability to Fire
It's a decent wrench alternative, exchanging crits for bleed damage and an inexplicable fear of fire.Last edited by surikesu; 2010-07-08 at 11:51 PM.

Dear god... carrying buildings doesn't prevent you from teleporting. You can build a level 3 sentry at spawn and port it to the front lines.

Re: [Steam] Thread XIII: The World's #1 Forum-Themed Hat Acquisition Simulator
Assessment of Update:
Engineers can now do offensive pushes. Or rather, they can support it very well. Seeding a lot of Gunslinger sentries at the Blue opening for cart-push maps is pretty cheap and effective, given the accessibility to metal/health.
The Wrangler pretty much allows the Engie to do ranged support fire. Pesky and nigh-unavoidable hitscan dakka. It's effectively a machine gun emplacement that can keep the opposition pinned down. It can also pin Snipers.
There is a bit of drawback though. Wrangler Engies tend to be over-focused and won't react as quickly as the sentry AI to enemies showing up at point-blank. Stab-saps are easier because of the three-second window and the tendency to tunnel-vision.
Still, I forsee problems on some maps since what was once may have been an uncontested Sniper overwatch can be threatened by an Engie spamming dakka into his nest ceaselessly. Doubly-so if a pocket Engie gets involved.
Also, Valve needs to nerf the ability of the Engie to pick-up and move somewhat, since it can be done defensively. Is your level 3 about to die? Did an Uber show up? Pick it up and run away. It can be a very effective way to save the Engie's metal-expensive toy.
Level 3's take longer to re-deploy. Depending on your situation, carrying a level 2 or a level 1 is more effective because they re-deploy more quickly.
You don't necessarily need extra firepower to get the effect you want:
1) You just need the few kills to power up your Frontier Justice when your ninja sentry inevitably dies.
2) You're are using the Wrangler to pressure the other team, while your team is making a push. Again, I cannot overstate the power of ranged hitscan dakka. It is *very* annoying.Last edited by LurkerInPlayground; 2010-07-09 at 01:46 AM.
