I agree with Happy and Reinholdt. A crime-ridden city is good. A city with constant combat would be a mess and I'd definetly avoid it.

BTW, I still need advice on NO's thread title, command structure changes and the healing on Nexus Battle Royale's healing - I'd like to start the event tomorrow. Yeah, that's a lot of things on my mind... and I'm also considering sending Wenomir to the Thanksmas thread.

I don't think a second vampire clan makes sense for what I have in mind for the first one. They aren't technically a clan, they are open to all vampires and don't force anybody to have any obligations to them. Just as long as their laws are followed while in there territory.

I'll talk to you more about this later, after we've fleshed out some ideas.

Dunno. Most of the people who used to post in Town either post in Inside now, or in the Dancing Fox Inn.

Loan sharking is illegal because it's enforced with violence. Pay up (at ruinous rates of interest) or get a leg broken. Being a bail bondsman, which is also basically lending money, is legal because you enforce it by sending a bounty hunter after the debtor and putting them in jail, thus getting your money back from the courts.

Of course there has to be a court system for that to work, and I'm not sure Riverside is going to have that.

Yeah... I can't help but think that people who can bind the souls of other people on a daily basis have better things to do with such power than extort money out of businessmen. And if this kind of thing is going to be common in the Crime-Ridden City, well, don't expect me to show up there.

And what difference does it make? It's still a contract that can't be broken and binds your soul. Someone who can do it won't extort money out of businessmen. It'd be like using a tank to run a protection racket.

Seeing as that's his only real ability, and he gets to control a good deal of a city by doing so, I would think that's exactly what a person with that kind of ability would do. Plus, he would offer to assist others in ensuring bargains aren't broken, albeit for a massive fee.

I don't see anyone signing his contracts, even in a crime-ridden city. Not en masse anyways. Maybe one or two.

Honestly, you'd be better off playing a complete normal if playing someone who plays under the laws, using them to his advantage. I'd recommend it even.

TE I have to ask you, do you want to actually be part of running the city or do you want to be a powerful figure in the city?

The second option seems to suit you better and you wouldn't have to worry about the small details.
