Weeeeell... Sunny was making an army of robots for the purpose of killing Reinholdt Prime (really really evil insane version of Reinholdt). Then she discovered that Reinholdt had left the Nexus universe and couldn't be found. After having a crisis for a while over that, she made the decision that she didn't want her life to be consumed with vengeance and that it was time to let go. So she started de-mobilizing and trying to repurpose her attack bots for other things.

Originally, all the attack bots had separate minds, kept in the lab, with the bodies controlled remotely, so that if they were destroyed, they could be remade. Because Sunny wuuuuvs her robots. But part of the re-building would have been to give each robot its own mind. Of course they can back up their minds regularly, in case of mishap.

So... I could see one of those robots possibly having enough inner conflict to support becoming a PC.

As a machine empath, Sunny can sense the general working condition of most machines and easily find issues that need repair or just could be tweaked for more efficiency. And of course any machines that become self-aware, she has a general feel for their emotions. Nothing like thought reading though, as that would require her human mind to think as fast as a computer mind. She can also project her own thoughts and emotions to machines, which in the case of non-sentient machines pretty much amounts to them immediately acting on her orders. Sentient machines just get a feel for what she wants of them, and can decide or not whether to comply.

I picture her robot designs as being similar to those designed by Diego in Gunnergrigg Court. Example here, here, here, and here.

Well, so far all I've gotten is that it's about a B Rank power level, with decent weapons and defences for fighting, though not very mobile, generally remaining stationary in a fight.
I was definitely going for a very humanoid look, so being designed by a human works well (Sunny is human, right? <.<
Geez, having to ask that is so weird. )

A creation developing an independence streak and wandering out to find it's own place in the Nexus would be pretty fun to play. And having someone able to create robo-sentience build it/him would be a good excuse for him having it.
I was picturing it as maybe something similar to a Cyberman or even a Terminator-like thing...
Though nowhere near as homicidal as either, as I doubt you could make friends like that.

Anyway, yeah, still a work in progress actually making the thing, but a collaborative backstory sounds like fun on a bun.

Sunny is human - she came from Earth to work as a MagIntern, and then was one of a large crowd of people attacked by ReinPrime and ended up with brain damage, emotional trauma, and agoraphobia. Later her sister, Charity, came to find her. Neither of them had powers on earth, but exposure to the Nexus developed machine empathy in Sunny and chromamancy in Charity.

@ HG: Sunny can only read the tech part of it, just as with cyborgs, she can only sense the machine half. So if the magi-part was damaged, and it affected the tech part, she'd know something was wrong, but not be able to diagnose it except to say where the problem wasn't.

So, with my as-yet unnamed robot now with an origin, what kind of power level did Sunny's combat robots originally have?
Obviously some self-customisation could attribute for any increase in power, but whatever her designs were like would still be the core of his design.
For instance, if she didn't add, say, laser beams, he may have had to have scavenged some and done that himself.
The same goes for more mundane things, like senses (Vision and the like), as well as functional hands.
The added-on things would obviously be less elegant and streamlined, and the more he needs to add, the more scavenged he will look overall.

Oh, and how long ago was the construction period of those warbots?

Anything else that could help me finish up a proper profile sheet for the Character Directory would be great.

Well, I imagine the actual technology bits could be understood, but everything else would be just as much of a vague mystery as magic is to everyone.
