...Okay, I realize this will sound odd, coming as it does from someone who's been in the Golden Sun fandom*, but the logistics of SoarBurn make my head hurt.

*The relevant thing about Golden Sun fandom is that the shippers are insane. It's died down considerably, but for a while there was a constant oneupmanship in the ridiculousness of the ships. One of the more famous ones is Isaac/Isaac's Roof. Yes, the thing on top of his house that keeps the rain off. At least two major characters have also been shipped with a rock (admittedly, a magical probably-sapient rock) and another with one of the summon sequences.

I could see, for instance, SoarMac if Soarin decides to visit Dash (who then takes him to meet her friends) or if Dash for any of several reasons drags all the Ponyville Apples to a Wonderbolts exhibition. But Braeburn is in a struggling community far from the usual Equestrian hubs; there's little known reason for the Wonderbolts, either singly or as a team, to go there, and he's unlikely to feel he has the leisure to leave (or much reason to see an airshow).

I would say Appleloosa is thriving not struggling. Also is it so unreasonable that the Wonderbolt's would have a show nearby? Or that Braeburn is in Ponyville and meets Soarin there?

And that is good for a nonbrony, and helping people is a perfectly acceptable reason to leave ponies. Real life is always more important.

Perhaps "struggling" is a slight exaggeration, given that a number of the townsfolk appear to be engaging in leisure-ish activities, but if the whole community is relying on the results of a single-crop harvest to survive I wouldn't call it "thriving".

And considering how often Braeburn's been seen in Ponyville so far...
