I just went over it again. As usual, I'd inflated the damage in my head - turns out "a significant part" mostly consisted of "the part I'd fleshed out the least". Change a few words here and there, and voila. I think I'm going to be over the page limit.

Yay to all. Although I suspect "creative writing" will be slightly more structured than that, because it is a class and classes always seem to be entirely too much. On the other hand, I get to WRITE FOR FUN AND GET CREDIT FOR IT.

A very good point. The ONLY reason I'm considering the other one is that I've heard the professor is quite a good teacher (though a very strict grader and somewhat egotistical) and I happen to know that the one who teaches the colonies class is mediocre. Still, I think that either one would serve me well (already looking at my senior project, spring '12: I'm going to discuss the interaction of indigenous peoples with colonists/conquerors in some manner) in the long run so I gotta figure out if I prefer subject matter or good teacher.

Then there's no reason for you to do 'Vietnam'. Easy as that. If you're going to do a thesis-type thing on on colonists, all the more reason to do 'Colonies'. Also it's not C20^th history.

It depends. All these classes are 4, but at Whitman classes pretty much run the gamut from 1 (electives like ballet, piano, that sort of thing) to . . . I think 5. The majority are 3 or 4. Supposedly the number of credits determines the amount of time it takes, but in actual fact it's scarcely related. My most difficult class right now is only 3 credits.

You need 124 total credits to graduate. Yes, only 36 in your major field; this country's big on "well-rounded", I guess. I currently have 65 total. Next year I'm planning on two 16-credit semesters, and in fall '11 I have a required 3-credit class, which will put me at 112. Then the spring of '12 I'll take just three four-credit classes, leaving me time to work on final project stuff.

So you're expected to do thirty credits a year. (I forgot for just a few seconds that you did a four year thing rather than three so was about to write forty.)
I hope you don't mind me saying this, but that doesn't exactly seem right, only one-quarter of your time at uni/(US) college is in your major/specialist area. I mean, I'm mostly well-rounded - PE and some sciences excepted - enough to function in 'real life' and my university life is because I'm crazy-insane-in-love with one specific subject above all others and that's what I want to get massively in debt studying.
Nice to see you're on track for your graduating though. But couldn't you get above your graduation minimum? Or would that mean taking dozens of five credit classes and going into a meltdown during every holiday?

It would. I'm pretty tempted . . . but it would be logistically VERY hard.

How so? With (UK) universities, you can apply to study abroad and you don't have to pay anything towards it aside from your usual annual tuition fee.
Or do you have to apply to Office G, pick up Forms XQd34fGF - S, fill them in and hand them to Office B3a and another host of complicated doohickeys?

Made my first dinner-for-the-family from scratch today. It was a great success. Although typically, I let dad do one thing and he burns it.
It was pork rashers and if they're undercooked they can troublesome. Also dad didn't trust me with them quite yet. I'd have done a better job than him, I wouldn't have burnt them.

I had dinner cooked for me tonight by departing housemate. Still faintly annoyed that housemate's lasagna outranks mine, as it all came out of a kit. Considering investing in small personal shaker of MSG to mimic that fresh-out-of-the-jar flavor.
