There are doors at A4, A6 left, F4, F6 right. The roof is a lot of rafters 20' above you. The x marks the squares you started in, the t marks the torches. Make a spot check.

You both notice that the rafters above you are not the roof. There's a large open space above the rafters.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
my in-character will be blue
we have two options. we can either climb up and check it out, or we can move on.
a third option: i blast a rafter with an eldritch blast. thats a last ditch effort though. what do you think Fred?Spoiler

I'd forgotten about that. I'm sitting there nearly dead, I think...
Are you capable of flight, or climbing? If not, I suggest we stand in a doorway and blast, getting ready to jump back if needed.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
i am poor at climbing and i cannot fly. i can blast at the opening if we want, but that sounds foolish as i dont want to tempt the gods. i say we pick a door
assuming that that is what we go with, i will roll a random D4, with 1 being the first door listen in the description and progressing in the logical manner
(1d4)[1]
if you want to go with something else, then disregard the roll
EDIT: if you want to try the doors, i suggest we go with the one closest to me (i am assuming i am the x closest to A4. from now on could we have P be me and F be sofawall?)Last edited by gallagher; 2010-06-23 at 03:29 PM.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
That door is as good as any. Try to hit a rafter near the middle, they tend to be weakest there.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
*wonders if untyped damage penetrates hardness*
Either way, you scorch it a little.
Then, a bat swarm flies down and attacks you both.
(d6)[2] damage each, and you're both bleeding if you take damage. 1 damage per round til you recieve healing.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
ok, i'm at 7. i think we can try attacking it a little before i heal us.
if he is more than 30 feet away, then i attack for (1d20+4)[21] for (1d6)[2]
if he is 30 feet or closer, my to-hit is 22
EDIT: and my move action is to move as close as possible to the torchesLast edited by gallagher; 2010-06-24 at 12:07 PM.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
Being a swarm, your weapon mostly passes through, having little to no effect.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
swarms have that good of an AC? jeez, you figure it would be easier to hit at least one of them while they are a-swarmin and i thought they incur an AoO for entering our squares? and i thought you said a bat, like a single one. very well, that changes my strategy.
i figure i can summon a swarm of my own to deal with these pests. keep trying to hit them as i summon them!
i shall be doing that my next turn. hopefully my bats are as amazing as yoursSpoiler

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
Even if I hit ten of them with a swing, it won't even begin to effect their numbers! Let me try something else!
OOC: Bat swarms (as well as all other diminutive swarms) are immune to weapon damage. Do we want to roll initiative, make this official? Of shall I just grab some alchemist's fire and lob it at the bats?Last edited by sofawall; 2010-06-25 at 01:37 AM.

Their attacks were the surprise round. Might well be that they get another turn.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
well then we must KILL IT WITH FIRE
do you think i should summon a swarm of my own, or should i try hitting these guys with the torches that are placed near us? or should we make a break for one of the doors and we can heal from our wounds?
btw i was a bit confused about it being a swarm when you said that a bat (like a single one) flew down and then attacked both of us (which confused me further, like one bat attacking two people) but now i see what you meantLast edited by gallagher; 2010-06-25 at 11:01 PM.

Initiative: (1d20+3)[10]
Fire works well with me. I'll grab the torch, I suspect I am more adept at combat than yourself. Try summoning that swarm, it could distract it do some damage.

You're all still in the middle, and the bat swarm covers the 4 middle squares.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
well since it looks like i won initiative, i summon my swarm of bats, and if i am allowed to summon them to a specific spot, i have the corner of my 10 ft swarm overlap the other swarm but not hit us, preferably away from the doors

O_o
Does a bat swarm count as doing weapon damage? I...have no idea how to rule this one.

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
well in the least biased way that i can see it working in my favor, i could imagine that the swarms of bats would work out as individual bats attacking each other. since the swarm has a single amount of hitpoints, and acts as a single creature, it is pretty much waiting for one bat to kill another.
then again, that could be one of those things that only works once because it looks cool. any official ruling would have to come from someone a little more experienced in the way of the DM.Spoiler

Re: Neverending Dungeon Duo: Fred and Po'Jon
It has no attack bonus, so does not count as a weapon. IMO.
(d6)[6]*1.5 damage to the swarm, and the swarm is bleeding....
