Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Deadly dragons had to update for Dawnguard, because Dawnguard added new Dragon types, which would have interfered with those from Deadly Dragons. There is still a version which works, but it's pretty thoroughly out of date now. 4.5.0 where the latest version is 6.3.5

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Gah! I knew I was going to start hoarding mods when I started down the dark path. My poor laptop isn't likely to produce the FPS to keep up with some of these more interesting visual things. Or maybe it will, but making sure I get a proper load order with no conflicting mods... :guntomyhead: (Okay I know there isn't a smiley for that.) Currently tracking something in the area of 20 mods that I'm "not sure" about but won't ever be able to find again when I want to. I haven't even started looking into ENB yet; thankfully it seems to be something more of a PITA than I'm willing to mess with on an install that I'm not sure about.
I have but a lowly Asus with a 2.5GHz i-5 and Nvidia 610M card, and very poor chassis design choices for cooling and airflow. It's almost like they want the computers to overheat and fry themselves.
Why must the eye candy be so tasty?!I used to live in a world of terrible beauty, and then the beauty left.

IIRC, the Nexus Mod Manager does a lot to reduce load order issues.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Try using SMIM before installing any texture mods. It's a little tough on your system, but everything looks so much better you might not even need other texture mods.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
I just cannot fathom why Bethesda didn't put a CONTRAST setting in their game in the first place. But I have a minor suite of visual things and my fps is taking a hit, dipping into low teens and even down to five in some of the inns. Probably kiss that enhanced lighting mod goodbye. Not holding much hope for SMIM since the description by the author has a better rig than mine by quite enough. It still runs better than it did when the default was for some reason set to 8x antialiasing. I'm sure it's to do with lighting as I think on it, since I was in a virtual hole in the ground and fps was 12 with stuttering. I shudder to think what will happen in any of the civil war battles when I get around to that.

Alternately, try out imaginator, which can do that plus some other stuff.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Well I toned down the visual mods to just Imaginator instead of that plus a bunch of other stuff. It still looks loads better than it did and I'm pretty happy with the results. Also the FPS is still liveable. I had to turn VSync back on too, for whatever reason it keeps my FPS from tanking too badly despite the collective advice and opinions of the internet. Still getting high teens to mid twenties this way, and it's about what I was getting before I started fiddling with things.
I really don't play that many games. I could have sworn I've played a few that did have a contrast setting, but then again I sometimes remember things that people tell me didn't actually happen. More likely they had a good enough contrast that simply adjusting the brightness was enough. Skyrim, for all that I really love playing it, does not have very good contrast out of the box in my experience.
I am running Imaginator, I haven't gotten around to shutting off the enhanced lighting FX mod yet, but I strongly suspect it's the main problem as far as killing my fps. I don't even really known what "particle physics" are, but it seems that it's a major cause of slowing down games and if it's the thing that causes those random blobs of crud to float around (not snowflakes, but those random blobs in crypts and so forth) I can happily live without it.Last edited by Winter_Wolf; 2013-12-28 at 06:27 PM. Lovely. Now in addition to random CTD's, my Skyrim has started bluescreening my entire system. Which is incredibly annoying.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
The crown seems a bit off compared to the rest of it, but otherwise pretty cool.
What are the symbols on that thing by the collar from? They seem familiar.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
So now I cant seem to download mods off nexus when I just downloaded one 10 minutes ago...
I'm thinking of trying the matera race. I used custom races in oblivion all the time but never did it in skyrim for some reason...it always confuses me =_= that or they just dont seem to give good directions. Doesnt help the creators give masses of optional files they dont mention in the description, and NMM is still not working.
Been eyeing this mod off for a while though, hopefully I can get it working

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
The crown is the elven circlet from Johnskyrims HD Armored Circlets, and it was the only non-glass light circlet there was. I've just checked the mod again and it's updated with a dragonscale circlet:
Spoiler
I think that looks better, you?
The armour is a recolour of Triss's outfit from The Witcher. Presumably the symbols on the collar are from there too.Last edited by Dhavaer; 2013-12-29 at 04:27 PM.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Welp, I messed up my game...again. Installed matera just fine, although I only had very limited choices in hair/skin/lip/etc colours (everything after about 14ish just stayed the same colour) which I assumed was because it was a custom race I was using. Installed some white textures addon for a ponytails hairstyle mod that now removed the numbers for all the other colour options..I see custom races with extra colours but I don't know how to get that to work.
The main problem came when I finally got some weapons and they were just equipped on the hip as usual, I use XP32 skeleton and something else I suppose that changes the position and shows both weapons equipped at once. Thought maybe installing this race overwrote the skeleton, so disable and re-enabled it in NMM..now when I try to load my game I get infinite loading screen =_=

Did you remember to disable the race, then the skeleton then reinstall race>skeleton?

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
No I did not. I also think I've done this exact same thing before, because I had another mod that required the skeleton that Im supposed to actually stop in the game menu before uninstalling one of them. I can't recall how I fixed it last time, because I obviously cannot actually load my game to turn it off.
Edit: fixed the infinite load screen, I forgot there was a patch I was meant to run again for dual sheath redux...now if I could just figure out how to get all my extra colours back :/ my character looks like butt (okay maybe not like that)Last edited by Sajiri; 2013-12-29 at 09:36 PM.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Does anyone have GPU driver recommendations for NVidia cards? Nvidia 610M 2GB (and don't get me started on what they thought they were doing putting 2GB on a card that can't utilize it ), but that shouldn't be much of an issue. Latest does NOT always mean best or better, and the few threads I've found regarding it are either dirt old or useless. Currently I'm using Nvidia 314.22 because that was the last set of drivers at the time that weren't giving me grief with just about every other game I have. I just really want to eek a few more FPS because I simply cannot make use of any of the eye candy things without load times and FPS tanking out. Contrary to what I expected, I'm actually getting better outdoor rates by cranking up the grass rendering to full. Indoor and dungeon lighting turn my games into slow flip-book.
My goal of course is better graphics and keeping enough performance to make the game enjoyable; 14 fps is not enjoyable. I should have left well enough alone and stopped with the mods before trying to pretty things up, but it's really hard to go back after seeing how good it looked.I used to live in a world of terrible beauty, and then the beauty left.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
My game ran a bit smoother when I installed my SSD. Though my system is a bit on the old side, so changes in perfomance are pretty noticeable. The biggest performance gain was had with a newer video card installed. So if your video card is a bit out of date, consider replacing that first.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
I have a question about Oblivion, specifically the DLCs.
I have the Game of the Year edition, which has Shivering Isle and Knights of the Nine. I don't have the other add-ons, like Vile Lair, Fighter's Stronghold, etc.
Is there somewhere I can get those extra DLCs for PC? Bethesda's Web site only shows how to buy them on Xbox Live. Steam has them, but as part of the Game of the Year Deluxe Edition. I don't want to pay $12.50 to get another copy of a game I already have.Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Man...I got everything in my game working just fine, got all my custom colours back, even managed to fix those random crashes I would have...but now all the kids are running around in underwear. I know what mods cause it but I have a patch that was supposed to fix it.
Did not see that one coming.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
Note about the aforementioned Civil War Overhaul: I've tried it, and when I did, it was far too buggy to be worth it. I mean, it does bring a lot more complexity and...completion to the civil war, and generally makes it feel much more like a war and less like a series of tiny skirmishes, but...it's insanely buggy. I never even managed to complete the civil war questline- I got the orders from general Tullius to join the camp outside Windhelm, but then there was no one there, and no matter who I talked to or how I fiddled with the console, I couldn't get the battle to actually start. That's to say nothing of the fact that I had to complete half of the quests in the questline via the console because they glitched out in some way or another. I really like what it tries to do, but until all the bugs are addressed I wouldn't recommend it.
Quick question: Does anyone know of any good Oblivion mods to make the game a little less dull and a little less generic, both visually and content-wise, than it is? Vanilla Oblivion is incredibly lacking to me, but the game seems to have a lot of potential. I already downloaded Unique Landscapes, Better Cities, and OOO, but I'd be interested in knowing what else is out there.Last edited by Fates; 2013-12-31 at 12:19 AM.

Re: Elder Scrolls VII: Do you believe in Mod?
I think it was Marts Monster Mod I really loved having installed in oblivion, but I could be thinking of something else. I just remember heading straight for the abbey and taking 10 minutes kiting around a troll that was hanging out there in one save.
There was also I think it was called hentai mania (not what it sounds like), again I could be thinking of another mod, but it added a bunch of new dungeons which I found interesting...I'd give more specifics but it's been so long I can't actually remember what was in these mods, just that I really enjoyed them.
