Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
Honestly, since this is about characters, unless we find out any of these items are actually sentient, I don't believe they should be tracked, as that qualifies them as objects, not characters.
But props to TheWombatofDoom for counting it all anyway.

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
I concur with what seems to be the consensus here: we track Banjo because he may actually be a deity, but unambiguously inanimate objects shouldn't be counted just because they have names.

I thought we were tracking Banjo because he's a running gag that has gone on since the beginning of the comic?

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
Dang...you're right. That's a good catch there...
Welp, for those who are curious:
Armand Vestinghole (286 +52)
That's over half of Elan's Appearances...Last edited by TheWombatOfDoom; 2017-08-15 at 10:44 AM.

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
I vote for not including any inanimate objects at all. Once you start down that road, where do you stop? Would the Mechane suddenly be counted as a character? Would "The Trouser Titan" get an appearance for every strip where Roy isn't female?

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
TBH it would honestly be pretty hilarious to have a comprehensive list of every time any inanimate object recurred.
I sure as hell ain't gonna count it though.
Don't be absurd. The Trouser Titan has never made an appearance.
But if Roy goes full frontal, on the other hand....Last edited by Fawkes; 2017-08-17 at 03:41 PM.

Well...it made one appearance...but the censors got to it first.

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
For anyone interested:
Armand Vestinghole would have more appearances than anyone save the core 6 main characters. More than Mr. Scruffy even.
Lutey the Lute-tastical Lute would have more apperances than Durkon* and the Demon Roaches (for online apperances).
Food for thought on the current discussion.
..
My vote is to include them, personally. (Mostly because I think there's just enough to fit the requirements). Now, Back to Lurking!

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
I do have a tendency to include them if we are including the Dragon Stuffed Animal, but honestly neither of those facts surprise me, as they both have been around for over half the comic at this point. Honestly, if they were lower in number I'd be all for including them, but having them at such a high count makes me question that, as I wouldn't consider them to be "major characters". I would like to put in a vote for the Mechane to be included in the total no matter what, especially if we've counted the stuffed animal.

Honestly, I'd rather cut Mr. Dragon from the list then add Elan's items.

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
I wouldn't be surprised if Minrah, being suspicious of the party, threw out a fake name for the High Priestess to try to trap them in a lie. But until we have confirmation of that (which would probably also come with her real name anyway), I'm fine with calling her Rubyrock, it being the only name we have for her.
On the inanimate objects question, regardless of whether Banjo and Mr. Dragon are actually sentient or not, they're still characters. They just might be fictional within the context of Stickworld, but they're still characters. By this standard, we should include Banjo, Mr. Dragon, and the book characters from "Spoiler Alert" (the latter in the "extra materials" section, of course), but should not include Lutey, Armand, the Mechane, or the Greenhilt Sword.Time travels in divers paces with divers persons.

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
1095:
Belkar Bitterleaf, Blackwing, Brother Sandstone (now with a name), Civilian Support Staffer, CotS usher with long hair (as vampire), Elan, Gontor (as vampire), Haley Starshine, Minrah, Mr. Scruffy, Rogo, Roy Greenhilt, Thor (as statue), Thor cleric with helmet and warhammer, Tinna, Vaarsuvius
The dwarf I'm calling Civilian Support Staffer was previously seen in 1007, helping throw out Durkon. "Thor cleric with helmet and warhammer" appeared thrice before, in 1084, 1085, and 1087 (I think he's listed under "Dwarf defenders").Time travels in divers paces with divers persons.

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
The Civilian Support Staffer is Firuk Blackore, from Book 0.
which makes him (1 +2) ... I think?
But he doesn't help throw him out.Last edited by Ornithologist; 2017-08-29 at 02:13 PM.

Re: Number of Character Appearances VI - Wrecan: "I like counting things"
This just makes me wonder which characters on the list were shown in printed material first before they were shown in the comic proper?
