Re: Into the West: Let's Play Oregon Trail II
We pushed on, albeit at a slower pace than usual. We didn't seem to encounter any ill effects, however.
Unless you count running face-first into another river an ill effect...[ There was a signature here. It's gone now. ]

Re: Into the West: Let's Play Oregon Trail II
River was forded. Nothing was lost in the process.
...Of course, we... Didn't really have much left to lose...
"Heh... Butte..."
We were nearing the last leg of our journey... But it wasn't easy. The animals were too tired to keep going, and to make matters worse, there was no meat. Or water. Or morale.
I foresee bad things.[ There was a signature here. It's gone now. ]

Re: Into the West: Let's Play Oregon Trail II
Sooooo... you're out of food, out of water, and out of morale. What's the solution? FORD IT!
Oh wait, exhausted animals... right... lighten the load, by throwing the sick ones out of the cart.

Take two horses , and make them meat for the people and the rest of the corpses. Then, ford their bones for extra points.
Wait, what signature?

Re: Into the West: Let's Play Oregon Trail II
I have no idea how far the rest of the trip is, but we've still got at least 2 more screens worth of traveling to do on the map. However, I can give a list of supplies:
Spoiler1 8-oz. bottle of alum
1 16-oz. bottle of ammonia
1 8-oz. bottle of camomile
1 8-oz. jar of dandelion
1 8-oz. box of Dover's Powder
1 12-oz. bottle of epsom salts
1 16-oz. bottle of isopropyl alcohol
1 4-oz. bottle of spearmint
1 16-oz. bottle of turpentine
1 8-oz. bottle of witch hazel
1 grandfather clock (Hell yeah)
1 banjo
3 pairs of boots
2 hats
2 pairs of long underwear
1 pair of mittens
3 sets of clothing
1 winter coat
2 winter scarves
1 water keg
1 ax
1 canteen
1 Dutch oven
1 fishing net
2 frying pans
1 kettle
1 ladle
1 pot
3 30-foot lengths of rope
1 set of eating utensils
3 tin cups
4 tin plates
1 chicken (The sole survivor)
1 spare wagon axle
1 spare wagon tongue
9 boxes of 20 bullets
11 10-lb. boxes of shot
1 rifle
1 rifle or shotgun sheath
12 pounds of candy
9 10-lb. sacks of dried beans
22 16-oz. jars of honey
12 5-lb. sacks of lard
6 1-lb. jars of licorice
8 16-oz. tins of maple syrup
18 16-oz. jars of molasses
2 5-lb. sacks of garlic (No wonder the vampires have been leaving us alone)
1 pistol
2 20-lb. sacks of potatoes
EDIT: Forgot to mention. Against all odds, we still have all 8 oxen that we started with.
Yes, that is everything we have left. It's somewhat unsettling that we only have 3 sets of clothes and 1 set of eating utensils. Especially when there's four of us left alive. And one has smallpox. This cannot end well.
At least the chicken is alive and well. He took up residence inside our last remaining grandfather clock.
Anyway, I ordered us to double-team the animals, then press onward to further victory. What we got was Sinker Creek Butte.
.... There's a dirty joke in there somewhere.Last edited by Zarah; 2010-03-29 at 11:42 PM.

Re: Into the West: Let's Play Oregon Trail II
The popular decision seemed to be
doubletriplequadquintuplesextupleseptupleoctuple teaming the animals. Given that we only had 8 oxen to begin with, I just lined them up into a single row and sent them down the hill with the wagon in tow.
Needless to say...
And to make matters worse...

Re: Into the West: Let's Play Oregon Trail II
Excuse me, but I would rather have the wagon train die in an anticlimatic crash rafting the last river, so I vote for epsom salts.
