Does this happen often or was there an uneasy peace that broke after the whole Trog's Tavern thing?
It seems like there's always a big event. I hear about the Empire's forming, the Felinians, all that crap, and next thing you know the attacks and the vampire menace seem like the kinda thing people will be making reference to years from now.

AMEN is going to try and do a stealth mission, which will probably result in a big old fight with NO when the stealth fails. But Watchtower isn't involved.

Also, Zefir should return to AMEN before then, since he'll get to blow up things a lot.

Hey guys. Before I got and give advice to pringle in his thread. Do you have any suggestions for things to add to this list of questions to think about before creating a new universe?

The W's

Who: What sort of characters do you want to see in your world.
-Character creation sheet
It never hurts to have one pre-designed for your universe
-Special rules unique to your universe related to characters
Are all characters Velociraptors? Is divine magic allowed, etc.
-Feel, what sort of feel do you want with the characters is this a more serious universe where tragic characters would be welcomed or would you like more comedic characters to inhabit your new universe

Where: So what exactly is this world of yours?
- Obviously where is is set? A small border kingdom in the middle of nowhere?A giant demiplane that is a huge gladiatorial arena, a space tricycle?
-Is there a particular genre that it fits in? Or is it like the nexus a big wobbley blend of genres
-On a broader level what are the basic understandings of the world and it's history.

When: When is this when is that, and so forth?
-When is the time period, is this the age of steampunk. A primeval world, or somewhere in the future?
-When is it in the course of history, is there anything important that happened before the current time period that the players aught to know.

How:
-So just how are the characters involved in your story, or the world?
-Why are they needed?
-What are the characters going to be doing?


The meta game aspect

What:
-What makes your universe stand out, how is it unique?
Why would I choose your universe over on of the countless other ones.
-What ooc assumptions are being made in your universe? Are there rules that all the characters are too follow. A storyteller or do all the stories originate from the players themselves.
-Does your world have a story? If so what does the conclusion of it mean.

That should probably go in the FFRP Central thread, celtois. You're more likely to get answers from people who actually have started a universe. I've never played anywhere but Nexus. The Bleach, Lynching, and Camp Half Blood players might have some good advice.

Fair enough. I'll throw it up there, and offer what I have now, hopefully to expand the list later.

If we're lucky this can become a good resource to all those crazy kids who want to start a universe.

But I was thinking that once Lighting Lass is more established she might try and form what is essentially a Superhero league/training center.

I'd probably bring back some ideas that were used by Kael for his Metropolis universe. In particular ID cards and no duplicate powers.

If I were to start something like that. In say a month or so. Do any of you think you've be interested, or would you prefer the Nexus to remain fairly superhero free and would reviving something akin to Metropolis be a better idea?

Personally, Celtois, I think it'd be better if any superheroes around remained independent. Otherwise you get things like the Empire-LANTERN situation, where the whole group suffers from the actions of a few.

I think DC your point is really solid and will have to be considered in the decision. Though I have to admit. I'd love to recreate the atmosphere of Metropolis here in the Nexus... >.>

I think that if anyone tried to pull the level of control on supers as seen in Metropolis off in the Nexus they'd be not-necessarily-literally godswarmed within the day.

Considering how much flak the Empire got for its old 'you shoot me, I shoot you' policy on rebellions back when Vyrn was around...

Was just sort of assumed based on the fact that when people join they give them a ring. Which means that everyone has the same powers, in addition to anything personal they have.

I'd totally consider restarting it. But I know I'm not always that active either. So it would require at least a decent number of players.

I also wouldn't mind making sure restarting it would be okay with Kael. It was kind of his baby.

Yeah I didn't think that the entire feel of it could be brought through to the NEXUS but the basic ideas, a group of superheroes dedicated to capturing and imprisoning supervillains and keeping them within their facility, and generally highly regulated so they could be punished for hurting the non-supers.

However as you say that might have a lot of trouble flying in the nexus even it it was mostly not seen by outsiders.
