Dvorak
Note: I did not invent this game. Website is here. Credits to them, and I think Kevan Davis. For leading me there via his website at here. Which he happens to share the same first name as me.
The game is simple. Dvorak is played entirely with cards, and there are just two types of card - Things and Actions. When you play a Thing card, it goes onto the table in front of you and stays there, usually having a useful effect while it remains in play; when you play an Action card, it does whatever it does and goes to a discard pile.
Starting with a random player, you take turns in order. A turn consists of:-
-Drawing the top card from the draw pile. (If the draw pile's empty, shuffle the discard pile and turn it over to make a new draw pile.)
-Playing up to two cards from your hand. You can play one Thing and one Action per turn (or just one of those, or no cards at all).
-Checking your hand size; if you have more than five cards, discard down to five.
The game continues until somebody meets whatever victory condition the deck has. (Some decks have fixed victory conditions, while others have them written on a card - "when you play this card, you win the game if...")
I'll take around 6 players. More is possible, but will be messier for me. I'll see how it goes.
Currently, Grue Bait and Ramsus, C'nor, Usourselves&we, The Grimmace, Matthias2207, Penguinator and MethosH are on the list. Recruitment has ended.
For now, I'll be running one of these three decks. Please choose! (If you want, you can suggest another deck
Devouring Horrors
Mediaeval Warfare

Re: Dvoark
Nausicaa sounds good, yeah. What happens if you use Master of the Garden on Nausicaa, though?

One would think the game would be at a standstill until one of the 'Nausicaa' are destroyed.

Re: Dvoark
Honestly, I'm fine with either of those too. Maybe with a slight preference for Medieval Warfare over Devouring Horrors, though...

Re: Dvoark
In! I'll check on the decks, but if I'm going to choose on name only, Devouring Horrors sounds great.
Edit:
1. Mediaeval Warfare
2. Devouring Horrors
3. Nausicaa

Re: Dvoark
So is the only win condition in Mediaeval Warfare collecting 75 gold and being able to play the Kingdom Come card? That does not sound fun as there is only one card that gives a win.
Devouring Horrors sounds alright as there are plenty of random things that could happen, but it could end 'suddenly' in a random way, randomosity is all well and good but controlled chaos is so much more fun.
Nausicaa has four was to win witch gives many more things for people to be worried about, and plan for. It is a struggle for power of different kinds and doesn't end just because someone got lucky with taking one card form the deck near the end of the game.
So for a list of what we would like to see plyed:
Nausicaa
Devouring Horrors
Mediaeval WarfareWe love plural first person personal pronouns.

Would be interested if this were a true nomic-style Dvorak game. Alas, I shall pass.

Re: Dvoark
Rofl.
&we, my thought was that we should cut our teeth (where does this phrase even come from?) on one of the simpler ones first. Multiple win condition games usually flow better and feel less "what, where did that win come from? I forgot all about that thing! why are there so many things!?" when players have more experience with the game.

Re: Dvoark
It refers to when babies get their teeth, according to a quick Google search.

Re: Dvoark
That is true Ramsus, and with the info about a deck for everyone Mediaeval Warfare may possibly be the best bet for a starter game here, though sadness will be had is no Nausicaa like game is played here in the weeks to come.

Actually if Vesth is moderating, that makes you number six, so welcome aboard! (I love how this turned out to be almost exactly the same group as Rings of Destiny )
