Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
Saw this on Facebook when I woke up this morning.
[person I know]: I can understanding wanting to put out a video quickly.... but Jesuotaku from the nostalgia critic site.... is a f***ing idiot. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/vid...d/27484-spvstw I really dislike jesuotaku. I would elaberate but honestly very few people would care.
I've spent the rest of the morning trying to resist the urge to tell this person off for bad grammar, among other things.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
[EDIT: Oh gods no, the tap water supply's gone again and I was already guzzling the stuff. I think we have bottled water left from the last time (last time?!) but my gods, clean water, it's not a luxury like the internet or dare I say it, even the power. . .]
Joke? My high school classroom ratios supported the idea all the way up to AP Chemistry, and then inverted. Then again, also up into AP-level there was at least two scheduled class periods for each science subject, so the boys may have been segregated into the other period. (College ratios were also supportive of the idea, but the entire student body was 2:1 female:not so the baseline itself was skewed.) For boys there were practical programs like drafting and the non-visual, noisy arts.Last edited by Quincunx; 2010-08-16 at 10:34 AM.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
I just met a self-described 'specialist in mass death' doing archival research on small-town Canadian plagues. I am so glad I get to work in the archives for a couple of weeks, God bless the Academy.

I have completely exited my student house. Now I have too much stuff. I need to get a iob so I can afford to get a flat or something.

You took the words right out of my dirty, dirty mouth.
You are under a parental roof now? My only advice is to simplify as much as possible. Excise all junk.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
Hooboy.
Today has been a day of heavy lifting. The central third of the CurlyParent's wardrobe has been removed from the house entirely. It's now lurking in the back lane (whole) in the hopes that someone'll come along and nick it before we go dump tomorrow or Wednesday.
It's in good condition, and very good quality, so chances are fairly high. And it's not all that heavy as two people can carry it with ease.
'Course, the space where the central part of the wardrobe was (we split it into it's thirds years ago) now has iust under a third of my books in it.
They come up to armpit height.
And there's a bag of clothes on top.
So aside from hauling that wardrobe around and evacuating my books from Littlest Brother's room I've been rummaging through old bags of hand-me-downs shopping for new clothes.
I found a skirt I would willing wear. T-shirts, tops, a iumper and some ieans.
A good haul.
The bag of clothes on my books are the stuff that I try on again end of next month to see if I've lost enough weight to wear them.
IO(S-R)N (In Other (Semi-Related) News):
My Bibble arrived yesterday.
It's a good three inches thick! And is now officially the thickest book I own; that's right, it's even thicker than my LotR omnibus. Iust.
Which lead me onto toying how unusual a system it would be if I organised my books by thickness rather than alphabetical, genre or other.
It would be an amusing system; but quite flawed in many respects.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
I noticed going through engineering school that most of the girls tended to gravitate toward the chemistry/biology based engineerings, while guys tended to gravitate toward the physics based engineerings. Again, my own observations.
That, and I can honestly say that in my sophomore year of college, I dated 1/3 of the girls in the Computer Science program...at the same time. It was epic.

Life became much easier once I realized that the people who write stuff like the Secret and What the Bleep are just stealing material from old Star Trek episodes.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
You see flaws - I see opportunities. For example: If your house is being attacked by... giant... cockroaches, then you'll know exactly what book will do the greatest damage to their stupidly resilient bodies when you drop it on them, and won't have to spend 10 valuable seconds finding something heavy enough to use as an improvised weapon.
...
You can't call yourself a true book-nerd unless you've got Weapon Focus (books).
...
Man, I now wish to invent a martial art based around using books as weapons, and reading them aloud while fighting your opponent. My academy would be a huge library, where the young students would study the wisdom of the preceeding generations.
Please, you must help me come up with a name for it.
I've noticed it too. While the science programme is more popular among boys in overall, the girls who're in it tend to verge towards biology/chemistry, while the boys verge towards physics/computers.Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...
