SOLD! *begins flinging money at computer screen*
My Little Roleplay: Professor Boffinspark; Dooming Ponythread For Over Twenty Threads
SpoilerOh, I wouldn't be overly worried, batch #456 is almost certainly flawless probably. I worked out all of the major physical issues by batch #91, and since batch #450 all that's been left is the getting the hormonal balance adjusted.
On a related note, I'd advise watching for any of the following side-effects: glowing eyes, use of the ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE, general increase in aggression, unwaranted use of the third person tense, rapid mood swings, declarations of deity-hood and/or uncontrolled magical surges. Should any of these side-effects persist for more than 24 hours, you may wish to consider evacuating the general area.
SpoilerBoffinspark, just what the hay did your killer cupcakes do to her?
Fascinating, it would appear the non-pony portions of her genetic code are having an adverse reaction to the retrovirus, causing it to mutate into a more primitive strain. Batch #47, judging by the looks of it. *sighs* Ah well, in all likelihood her regenerative powers will kick in before she completely destabilizes, so the virus is unlikely to have any lasting effects on her.If brute force isn't working, that just means you're not using enough of it.
When in doubt, set something on fire. If not in doubt, set something on fire anyway.

Well, that appears to be about forty airships, so by your own admission it's actually nearly ten percent of your armada. Much larger than unnoticable. Your boasting is permissable, though.
Wait, since when do airships permit time travel? Do mine do that?

I've said this myself about general cosplays. Like with Werewolves and such. Gotta go big or go home. Doing it only part of the way is like having half a kitten: normally a nasty bloody mess.
It probably wouldn't be so weird if the way she's hooked into it combined with her outfit didn't seem vaguely bdsmy. Which isn't bad by itself. But combining that all together... a person in a furry suit hooked up almost bdsmy to a cart pulling a girl wearing a bikini top in san francisco....
There's no part of that sentence that makes sense.
Which she? Because the horse could be either or. Maybe both? And isn't it possible to love and tolerate of something that makes your eyes burn?
Though that's not necesarraly an easily embraced mindset...
The thing is, I'm not -that- new to the internet. I've been online gaming for almost 12 years. I'm just new to the horrors of the internet, having been held down and forced through 4 chan and 2g1c when I was 17. A group of gamers at College could smell the innocence, and decided to do something about it...
And it still doesn't justify people being -sick-.
See, what exactly -is- Gorn? I thought I knew what Gorn was, but if this is it, then I don't know.
I thought Gorn was Gore-Porn. The viewer is expected to watch this for the sake of -enjoying- the subject material. That blood and guts are produced to thrill and delight. Like a type of power fantasy. Much like regular porn. Except, instead of, for example, shoving metal objects (that may or may not be phalic) into bits of meat and exchanging fluids... well, actually, yeah, much like regular porn.
Then again, my main experience with it is in games. Ninja Gaiden. Gears of War. Mortal Kombat. Killer Instinct. God of War. And the like. Maybe those games are too tame... maybe I'm not ready for the real thing. But I'm not personally bothered by blood and guts, or limbs being hacked off. I've gotten -that- kind of excited from it before (Orb of Destruction + 100 Ninjas = Pool of Blood and 500 (head, arms, and legs) spare body parts. Awesome). And I've seen people die in real life.
I'm kinda surprised that Cupcakes is even capable of affecting me the way it did.
That's how they know that they're wrong for it; because they wouldn't have the guts to do things like that otherwise. How they even get the guts for it in the first place is beyond me.
The thing is, that's not entirely true. People are capable of doing all sorts of things when pressed or snapped. It's sad, but true, even when the stressor is someone you love. Some times more so, which is even sadder, but truer. It's a fight for those who are slightly unhinged to keep ourselves in check some times, and some times it's easier when you're not fighting someone you're attached to...
I personally wouldn't agree that it's a -right- answer... but that would be a response marinated, roasted, baked, friend, and toped in my own bias, so it's wrong. Still, thanks.
Sick people are sick and need to stay on the other side of the internet. Or leave a corner for me to sit in away from them.
I don't think I've actually seen Luna Eclipsed yet.
I'd dispute this, but I'd be a ****ing hypocrite if I disagreed with it. I absolute love being able to vent all the problems impact me, and there's yet to be a sensation more rewarding than being able to release my anger without fear of destroying my life or someone elses.
.... this all... I don't have a respone for this.
Hm... maybe I do. And that response is that it makes me think.
Anarion, you make me think. Thank you.
I feel like some things are best left alone, but you are right...
.... maybe I have more material I might need to give a try to read. Though I definitely much prefer my stories to be Heroic, or at least a Comedy, rather than a Tragety.
How is it flawed reasoning? While it -doesn't- always lead to such acts, it is certainly capable of it. That's what makes Party of One scary; it confirms that Pinkie isn't entirely screwed on right. And any sign of instability shouldn't be taken so lightly, because no one, except and sometimes not even the subject, knows what is lying underneath.
It really isn't... it just lost me a few hours of sleep and some time crying to myself... I'll repress it again soon enough.
It'd be crude satire if it weren't 100% true. I used the terms "movie, art, and story" very lightly.
Never touching that story. I wish I was the kind of person that wasn't so easily bothered by such things... alas, Will is my weak save.
Not much of a premise, if you ask me.
I feel like that would be giving it far too much credit. There are ways to go that far and that deep without being sickening, me thinks.
.... what in God's name makes you think that a talentless hack with no experience or skills who can barely stomache the plot could even remotely pull off the psychological tale of a mind's descent into entropy and the horrid ramifications there in, especially when a writer with far more experience and talent, as well as a better handle on such a would, believes they couldn't?
No, tell me.
I hadn't seen Luna's reaction before, but I was shown the rest of these the first time I saw it and spent the entire day doing nothing but vomiting and freaking out. They're nice.
Wait, what's wrong with her in the Return of Harmony? Chocolate Freaking Rain from -Cotton Candy-. I'd vote for Discord.
I'm sorry; where would one need to live to possibly make grotesque torture porn of purefectly purehearted ponies justifiable? I'm on the fence if such a place deserves to be invaded or erased from existance.
While this is true, some aesopes don't need to be brought up. Some issues are best avoided for a show, depending on the type of show.
I thought a slashfic was what half the stuff involving two characters randomly thrown together into a relationship was. It's been so long, I might have forgotten all the fic terms...
That would actually be pretty interesting, yeah. Certainly doesn't have to be ****ed the hell up, either. A bit scary, maybe, as insanity is, but it can still be pretty good.
.... all the ponies in the show have had their crazy moments, haven't they? Twilight gets desperate to do anything to please her god Princess, Pinkie Pie's deranged without her friends, Dash has crippling performance anxiety issues, Fluttershy doesn't seem to take rejection well (though I personally believe this to be MASSIVELY out of character for her in the show), AppleJack's willing to work herself into exhaustion to try (and fail) to prove a point, and Rarity (like out of character Flutershy) doesn't seem to take rejection well.
I still haven't gotten to that episode.. but given how Celestia's Phoenix acts and is treated, Phoenixes seem to be pet material in this series. Troll Birds are Trolls.
I dunno, that could potentially be one of the few reasons Trixie could possibly get written back onto the show, beyond having practiced her magic and deciding to give the only pony in Ponyville a challenge for most magical unicorn, ala Rainbow Dash vs Apple Jack.
I suppose that's a blatant spoiler that Spike will continue to be the butt monkey while living under the heel of equine tyrrany, right?
Eww.
Not the worst typo in the world.
Hey, she can be your Tsukiko!
Why does that not surprise me. If characters that aren't even aware of each other can be shipped, then obviously characters that don't actually live can be shipped...
Sounds like a loving relatsionship already.
Yes, but the thing is, you choose to put up with it.
... when people write or ship characters like this, is there any emotional or mental connection between them? Or is it always just "X character. Y character. Bump Uglies."
Just curious..... even though this treads very close to subject mater I should not be curious about.
I watched the 1st episode of the new season before I left! Discord's laugh is freaking epic! Mother ****er makes Chocolate Raiiin! I'd bow to him. Chocolate Rain.
.... What is Kitchen Sink? A character got seriously mixed with a kitchen sink? Like the appliance?
Is there any part of a fandom that is worse than the shippers in terms of "what the heck's going on?"?
When I first saw this, I was all "Not Fluttershy, she'd never be like that."
Then I saw her freak out. And now I can see this.
It makes me wonder if a villain might try to bring back multiple villains, reviving discord, recorrupting Luna... give the Elements of Harmony a real work out.
Psh, you've been gone for like several weeks. It certainly didn't seem like it moved fast.
.... or I just lost track of time.
You guys? Rules? I have a hard time swallowing you guys being anything other than FF1Chaos grade Crazy.
You all don't seem like a collective anymore, actually. It's just an odd concidental grouping, at least from my eyes. The personalities are too distinct, and each being is too different.
Why is it -always- the Book of Erotic Fantasy? What about the Book of Unlawful Carnal Knowledge? Or Nymphomania? Or the Book of Neurotic Fantasy? Hell, I think there's one about Chain Mail Bikini's, too...
Erotic Fantasy gets too much air time, if you ask me.
Do the love interests have to be willing to be mutual, or just anything that can be possibly picked?
Just another question to which I -really- shouldn't be curious.
So far, my thoughts haven't really changed. While there are other shows, games, series, and things that I like much much more, My Little Pony is such a decent show with interesting writing and entertaining characters, especially when compared to some of the more random and crapily done modern day shows, it would be impossible for me to, in all good faith, demonise it.
So, in a sense, you're half right, since I did finish watching the first set of episodes, and I don't dislike the show.
I'll be quite honest, I'm the type of person that, should I ever be lucky enough to find that special lady who completes me and be even luckier enough to start a family, would instantly and immediately fall to that look. I'm going to go bankrupt if the current target of my affection realises this about me; I'm actually a sucker for shy/cuteness, at least when it gets past my gag-reflex. Damn you, Fluttershy...
I can't help but be reminded of Alucard from Helsing Abridged. "Get that Bitch a Cannon. Bitches love Cannons."
Darn you as well; people are looking at me funny for falling out of my chair.
Improved Initiative so that this type of infrmation gets reported faster.
I almost named a second thread title.
Page 36/37 for me. But still, Trixie only seems to show up at the beginning and end of ya'lls threads.
I thought we got Swordsage'd around here.
.... oh my god, Pinkie Pie is a Sword Sage!
I don't know what a Braeburn is, but that's a very...... that's a pic. That it is, that... that it is.
Wait, he's Aj's relative from the town on buffalo ground, right?
I'll be quite honest, half the ships you guys put up don't seem like they sound too realistic to me.
Why? I don't see why it's so hard for you guys to get your stuff... is it limited edition or somthing?
... most of you are adults, right? What do you even do with your stuff?
Wow... Ponyville needs far more discipline, if a couple of kids arguing infront of him is enoug to give him the power he needs to be reborn... shouldn't he have been revived much earlier than that, though?
If they move as slowly as it seems lke they would, given their size, they're incredibly vunerable to a few choice Saiyan words.
It appears Rainbow Dash is the village bike.
Yeah. larned from it that shippers will set up almost everything that exists. I'm lucky I'm protected by the 4th wall, s well as relaive inimimity. However you spell that word.
Damn, someone just got -owned-.
Well -EXCUSE- me for not having perfect teeth! I've got far more important issues to deal with, and I brush twice a day to keep them clean, thank you very much, princess!
Blatant Lies. ...You really think so?
Incredibly Rough. I know... it's certainly not the final draft of it.... but I kinda like it.
Why go out of you way? It's not like it matters. You'd really do that for me? ... :)
They need to do more new games with the features and functions of new games, but in the graphics of old games, and let players come up with their own explinations for what's -really- going on.
With enough interpreetation, all old games are horrifying. Mario especially. I wonder what checkers was really based on...
I wonder what's in the mushrooms Mario eats?
Wouldn't that turn it into floured ash?
How do you candy something? And what purpose beyond decoration does a flower serve with ice cream?
Of course...
Cthulu pony eating your face?
.... this reminds me; Applejack was seen trying to eat a sandwich... that had a piece of lunch meat in it.
Where'd the Lunch meat come from? How does everyone stay healthy on pie and other such stuff mde from Apples?
How do you make Apple Fries?
Optimus Prime would. Or at least he'll take it.
Yeah, you're Qwertyu63's sister. I'm a friend of his, a member of one of his games, and trying to play with him in another, if we can find a dm for it.
Definitely, since in this case, the girl's has a problem with the baby's dad not wanting to love her, but wanting to take the baby from her.
Also, just for randomness.
Holy Crap, I never knew that. Kevin is the Great and Powerful Trixie.... wow.
More also. I thoughtyou guys might like this.

I think I got everything I was supposed to...

Re: My Little Pony LIV:E Long and Pony!
So, those of you who believe you have the faintest idea about Ponythread's apparent cosmology, what do you think the major shards are?
As I see it, so far, the important bits are as follows;
Spoiler
As for the Dark-side shards, the fragments of setting and continuity that tend towards the grimmer or more morally complex end of things, there's
Silent Night and his cult originate from Stalliongrad. Pony Russia + Zombies + The Nightmare + The Pink One.
Boffinspark and co (Probably Divebomb too) come from an Equestria that has a vibrant mad-science community and a Celestia who either sees the need for it, or fears the consequences of trying to curb it. Pink One and Discord as major elements.
Bleakmane's Shard of origin (probably a seperate planet to that which equestria is on) and Maxtronaut's Clockwork-verse probably but up here somewhere too.
What about the Light-side of the Ponythread Multiverse?
Do Raz-Fox, Mask, etc come with any implied chunks of setting or repeatedly referenced locations?
And somewhere outside of all of this there is Sean Mirrsen's multiversal director/administration thing.

Sounds about right. *ribbit* Celestia is fairly *ribbit* loose with scientists. She's actually the one *ribbit* that helped me get my start on *ribbit* antimatter, and the one in whose *ribbit* service I most often find myself.
Defense contractor, mad scientist, *ribbit* part time counter?terrorist, and now, due to my daughter developing a horn, *ribbit* a frog.
Details enclosed in a post that apparently got swallowed by the forums.

Hmm. Can't remember the last time I was early for a thread.
I just realized I'll have to move pretty far away if I ever want to shout that at kids without sounding like I'm out of my mind. There doesn't seem to be a single lawn within miles of here.

Re: My Little Pony LIV:E Long and Pony!
The problem is, whether something is sick depends an awful lot. Brutally murdering your best friend is certainly sick and wrong, but exploring the idea in a piece of fiction or art is not inherently sick or wrong.
I am personally of the clear opinion that nothing is taboo in fiction. Nothing is off limits. There are certainly things that, if you're at all concerned about writing something worth reading, need to be handled with extreme maturity and care. But nothing is so sick that it can not ever be explored in fiction.
If I wanted to write a story from the perspective of a foal rapist, I would be well advised to think carefully about what I'm setting out to do, but nothing should stop me from writing it and if my intention is to make people think, to horrify, to provoke controversy I don't see anything necessarily wrong with that.
Very few people would be able to pull off such a story I'm sure, but that shouldn't stop them from trying because you never know who will pull it off. Sometimes talent and success comes out of nowhere, from where or who you least expect it. Also, just because you're a great and successful author in other areas doesn't mean you could pull it off, but a totally unknown person off the street just might manage it.
Forcing people who have no interest in such a story to read it would be wrong, of course. And certainly the Internet can be a little too good at throwing such things in everyone's faces without regard for their feelings or wishes. The "welcome to the Internet, deal with it" response is a really bad and damaging mindset, IMO. Sadly it's not something I'd expect to change. The fact is, the Internet is just a medium, it just reflects the outside world. If we don't see this kind of stuff in real life as often, it's because it doesn't spread as easily and because of the lack of anonymity, but it's still there.
I also want to make a point for the actual moral value of these kinds of stories. Maybe not Cupcakes, because it's a poorly written piece of shock-fiction intended only to provoke, but gory horror involving characters with which you might feel empathy, in this case namely nice, innocent pastel colored equines. I remember vividly as a kid reading a comic series, I can't remember the name or a lot of details, but it was full of gore and monsters, blood and guts everywhere. It was awful, actually, and I'm not sure why they were freely available at the library for kids to read, but then maybe I really do live in a very liberal country where that sort of thing doesn't cause any great outcry.
Anyway, there was one scene in one story in all those comics that I still remember. It showed a kid who had become a werewolf, and his mom was calling from downstairs that dinner was on. And the story left off at that, with his wicked werewolf-smile as he said he was coming. You could imagine where it was going to lead. Just the thought of that was awful and hurt, the thought of him becoming a monster and eating his own mother. And it stayed with me, like many things, and I like to think it made me aware that I care for other people, I like to think it shaped my empathy in some small way by making me aware, making me feel, making me think and remember.
That's what I think the value of tragedy and horror and even gore is. It makes us feel and makes us think, it stirs the deepest feelings in us, if it's done well. It may not be something you enjoy, but it can be powerful and it can be positive for many people.
I don't know what the original or official meaning of that word is, personally I just use it to mean anything that is needlessly gory for the sake of being gory which describes Cupcakes perfectly.
That's what these things do. They make you think
I don't think it's bad that you're touched by these stories. As I note above, that's the point, actually. You want to be touched by them, you want to cry. At least if you're like me.
I wish I could have been touched by Cupcakes, because it could have been a great story if it had been more than just an exercise in gore and shock. There's real tragedy in there, but it's never realized. It could have made me cry, if it wasn't because it was so awful it made me laugh instead.
On the contrary, I think Cupcakes had a lot of unrealized potential, as I've said above.
I'm not giving Cupcakes any credit. The Lecter books are, I'm sure, infinitely more clever. Also the gore is much more spread out, I'm sure. That was my point really, for a story like this to be good it needs more than just gore. You don't have to throw out the gore, you just have to distribute it right and not let it be the whole of the story.
See above. Very few people may be able to pull it off, that's right, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't make the attempt, because otherwise you won't find that one in a million writer who can do it.

Re: My Little Pony LIV:E Long and Pony!
Li'l question for Ponythread
What would a good pony alternative to "Oh God" be? As in "Oh God I'm going to be sick!" or something like that. For those times when you really need something strong that conveys your horror.
There's "Oh Celestia" but it doesn't quite have the same ... impact.

Cutelestia: "Oh goodie, my Discort butt is here!!"
Okay, this just raises questions about Andy's secret hobbies.
Or maybe his little sister has been secretly breaking into his... nah, Andy is a total closet Brony.
Um... maybe? I dunno, I haven't kept track. I don't even remember which thread was the first I popped into on these boards.
I like this comic because whenever my daughter comes to me asking me to see something she's doing, I have to sometimes be reminded to just put my stupid adult life down and spend more time with my daughter.
You could go with "Oh Luna" as well. Shorter and still invokes a goddess. Though I personally liked my coined phrase "For the love of Luna's left hoof".Last edited by DigoDragon; 2012-09-26 at 06:59 AM.
