Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
Say WHAT?
Spoiler
And hey, Terry Pratchett even referenced them in Soul Music (with the band We're Certainly Dwarves).
Ok, just looked over their tracklist and I only recognized 5 songs or so (the 3 referenced and Ana Ng...and why does the sun shine). They have lots of less familiar ones.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
My stepfather knows a lot about country, rock, jazz, and other "not incredibly old, but not the new garbage either" sorts of music (or at least he claims to), and he had never heard of them. He said it was probably only known by people, who, like me, hang around on the internet nigh constantly (and are otherwise nerds and/or geeks).
And hey, Terry Pratchett even referenced them
I use braces (also known as "curly brackets") to indicate sarcasm. If there are none present, I probably believe what I am saying; should it turn out to be inaccurate trivia, please tell me rather than trying to play along with an apparent joke I don't know I'm making.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
Let me see if I can't find it. Stumbled upon it yesterday… and here it is! There are a couple other images that could be good demotivator material there as well…
In the meantime, have another They Might Be Giants-themed poster

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
They are not a hugely popular band, but I think your stepdad has some gaps in his knowledge if he hasn't heard of them. Some of their songs, like Istanbul or particle man, or birdhouse in your soul have made the rounds to anyone who listens to music at all. It may be because they generally dont fall into a neat genre classification, and have branched into some childrens music lately.
They are really quite good and have been around since the mid 80s, with many tours and over a dozen albums. And if he really hasnt heard of them, he might want to give a listen :)
I think they did some skits on animaniacs to their songs as well.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
Istanbul (Not Constantinople) was not actually written by They Might Be Giants. It was originally written in 1929 by Jimmy Kennedy and Nat Simon, first recorded by The Four Lads in 1953, and later covered by TMBG. However, their cover of the song is quite well known, and is probably the most well known version of the song… and it it probably one of the songs that put TMBG on the map.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
That Tiny Toons sketch was my first exposure to TMBG as well. Here's a link.
And now for the first installment of my huge lurker tax. These are my first try at demotivators, but I think they came out pretty well. I figured I'd do some in honor of Soul Eater.
I'll make more later.

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
Some days ago I was playing Warcraft 3 in a level where I controlled three undead armies at once, and it annoyed me that one of them had no healing or disposable skeletons and all I had was ghouls and banshees, which I would have to replace all the time. And all the time, the enemy was healing his troops with priests.
But wait...

Since the fyling crocodile was so extremely popular (52 notes?!), I wonder if anyone has a picture for this:

What if those crocodiles could shot heat seaking killer bees, ensuring that there would be no escape?"Last edited by Yora; 2012-08-05 at 08:16 AM.
