Keychain of Creation
It's an Exalted Webcomic, kind of like OOTS.

Re: Keychain of Creation
Well, the art is kind of terrible, even compared to OotS, but the anime style is kind of cute, occasionally, and the punch lines are actually rock solid. I mean, there's a lot to mock about Exalted, and this one does it fairly well. It seems to engage my sympathy, which is a great deal more than I can say about most webcomics.

Re: Keychain of Creation
The art is NOT terrible. It's consistent and clear and can be expressive (though that part could be improved - more life into the faces).
Keep it up, I'm reading. My first character was a first edition thief.

Re: Keychain of Creation
I was actually fond of the art myself. It's something new, and has a very distinctive style.
I've liked what I've seen so far, story and art wise.

Re: Keychain of Creation
You know, I have to take that back somewhat, the art's already gotten significantly better. The smaller font is much easier to read, the dimmer color palette and thinner lines of the background makes the characters stand out better, and there's more variety in panels. I mean, these are small things, arguably, but they push the art up from "rudimentary" to "genuinely functionable".
Also, the three-dimensional backgrounds and the art style seems to be a lot more flexible than in OotS; makes for more expressive character poses. On that note, Secret is adorable. I guess in normal anime form, she'd kind of look like Osaka. It's almost inevitable I will draw fanart of her eventually. So uh... keep it up, I guess.

Yes, gotta agree with Marena: she's the cutest thing ever.

Re: Keychain of Creation
I'm afraid Mew Cai wins my vote for cuteness, especially in comic #35.
...Also, I never realised how *small* Secret actually is. She's like some form of quasi-midget.

Re: Keychain of Creation
Not just anime references, but Exalted is a fantasy RPG that has no Tolkien influence. It mixes anime, Western and Eastern Myths, and even takes a little of its mythology from the bible. It by far has more options and ways to play the D&D, though D&D started it all...

I like it. I'll probably be following it.
It is also tempting me to pick up Exalted. Looks like a neato game.I had a witty quote, but it was too long, so you get this instead.

Re: Keychain of Creation
What's odd is I occasionally attach music to sites in my head, It's only happened twice, but keychain of creation is the second one, The songs called "when under ether" by PJ Harvey, its not usually me kind of music, but I can almost imagine a slightly younger secret singing this, one of the lines about marena particulailry.

Re: Keychain of Creation
Yeah, this is a great strip. I'm starting to realize now that I've been playing Exalted all wrong! All my characters used to have gritty, down-to-earth background stories, delicately flawed personalities and homeric portions of psychological trauma to go with every bit of superhuman prowess they ever gained. Then I saw it, three words:
Soulsteel chainsaw-Katars.
My eyes are opened!

Re: Keychain of Creation
Wow, I'm sorry I didn't check this thread more often! Thanks for the kudos! And I'm glad to see that I've pursuaded someone to try Exalted. I just hope this buildup of quality in the comic won't end in a big, crushing collapse.
The great thing about doing a stick-figure comic is that you can squeeze in all sorts of stuff that, in a more traditional drawing style, would be totally ridiculous. Exalted is a game where you could play a divinely powered ninja zombie who pilots giant robots as a totally serious character, and you'd never get away with that in a normal comic, partly because it would be so difficult to draw right. But in a stick figure comic, it seems, people's minds are already prepared to accept things like that.Last edited by Jukashi; 2007-12-21 at 08:42 PM.

Re: Keychain of Creation
Don't worry, don't worry. If it turns out your comic only has Stamina 2, it'll still be the cutest collapse ever. Especially if Mew Cai is involved (And I request more Mew Cai, if I may).
Reading KoC also inspired me to start playing Exalted, although some of the wording in the Character Creation part of the 2nd Edition manual threw me off. I keep thinking I'm adding up the points wrong, and giving characters either too few or too many when it's all said and done.
Ah well. Anyway, also hope to see more of the Seatongue language (And more references to English comedy). :P
Also, I want Flame's weapons. That's so badass. At first, I thought he had chainsaw hands.Last edited by Blayze; 2007-12-21 at 08:44 PM.

I'm just sad we don't have much in the way of sidereals yet... that whole "can't be remembered" thing is very amusing.

Re: Keychain of Creation
I started following it about a week ago and I really like it. Now it's the second thing I check for updates every time I wake up.
Even though I don't play much Exalted, most of the jokes are clear.
The comic started very strong from the first strip: the dialogue is great and the art, while inspired from OOTS has evoved into something original.
Keep it up, and show us a lot more Ben - he's adorable.

Definitely one of the better comics I've deemed worthy of my Piperka subscriptions list.
The above post made a lot more sense in my head.
