Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
Well it looks like car crashes are freakin' contagious. And I apologise for that remark but they are!
My dad was in an accident last night.
He was driving his lorry down one of England's famous narrow country roads yesterday and he saw a car so he pulled over and had his nose in the hedge; the driver panicked and drove right into the front of the lorry. At just over forty miles an hour.
Dad was driving twenty three exactly (tachometer) so it was the drivers' fault. Ironically the car driver is also a lorry driver.
The car driver was taken to hospital with chest pains. Dad's okay, but he may have whiplash and has arm pains. He's home though and I guess he's seen the doctor again by now.
So . . . yeah. Not a good day.

Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
Wow, that's pretty bad, good job your dad slowed down really, I hope everyone's okay. It can get stressful on some the narrow country roads and it's easy to panic.
Feeder's new albums amazing everyone, I've actually had it over a week now and I've listened to it a total of like 80 times. It's a great album though, just thought I'd let yous know.

Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
The muscles in my back are hurting like hell again these days. That means that working (office work) and hobby (writing, photography including photoshop) don't do well together, and general movement is painfull.
I take meds, but not too much and often, as my stomach doesn't like that, and I don't want to create a habbit/addiction of taking meds.
Anyway, deadlines at work, tax payments that go off the roof, a broken washing machine (luckily finally ficked today) all get a bit too much. Bleh.

How did your back problem start? Have you tried any alternative treatments like accupuncture?

I'm making a bacon sandwich. Hopefully it hasn't burnt while I've been sitting here on my computer.
...Turns out I had no bread. Darn... Oh well, a crispy bacon sandwich sans bread has just as much crispy bacon in it.Last edited by Player_Zero; 2008-06-25 at 07:36 AM.

Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
Okay. We just learnt the entire plot of Tess of the D'Ubervilles in roughly half an hour. By YouTube montage and teacher.
For our parody and satire coursework.
Because of how good the book sounds I've taken it (and a copy of Cold Comfort Farm (which parodies Wuthering Heights, Tess and others) which is one of the books we're doing for coursework) which I just happened to find in the library.
And the library (all two floors of it) is scarily empty. Downstairs there's three other people including both librarians. And upstairs there's maybe five more.
Generally this library is overflowing and loud. Now it's upsettingly quiet.

The West Bridgford library hardly ever has anyone in it... Especially in Fiction. Sad, really.

Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
This is (we'll call it a)) one of four or so college libraries and has about fifty - sixty computers and mountains of resources.
b) is never more than one-third full.
c) is never used because it's so incredibly small and useless.
d) study centre is very slow.
And e) and f) libraries are for the uni students. While g) is mainly a language lab with special programmes on the computers and foreign language books and films.
Where I am is the most popular library/study centre in college.
By the way, the fiction areas for each library suck. b)'s fiction amounts to less than one hundred and forty books (I counted) and a) has around two hundred. d) has no fiction. g) has comic books are Asterix in french. Very few actual books.

Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy it and then it'll be shunted into my top twenty.
But I can't believe what Alec and Angel did to Tess! Total, complete, utter gits. It's bad enough meeting one of them, but then the other.
And especially what Angel did at the end.

Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
Not all of them do. Ivanhoe for one doesn't. neither does The Secret Garden or Jane Eyre (if you accept that Rochesters' being half blind and having only one hand is minor) or Chaucer, Pride and Prejudice and more.
You just need to know where to read.
Then again: can't we all name at least ten books where the ending was bad as in death of many characters/total ruination/destruction of morals? I definitely can. Moby **** ('from Hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee'); Wuthering Heights (going with the Heathcliff-Cathy-Linton story and the Hareton-other girl one); Gulliver's Travels; Dracula; Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; pretty much any Skakespeare play; Notre Dame du Paris; Picture of Dorian Gray; and ever so mnay more.
Or by poorly do you mean badly ended?

Re: Raiser's Rambunctiously Rambling Random Banter #98
By poorly I mean that at least one of the female main characters(if there are any) die in some terrible way, mentally or physically(being betrayed by a close friend or drowning are some examples), and one of the main male leads will be either insane or completly destitute.
May I join?
I make an excellent lookout.

Arrr, I'm now a pirate, now to get my cutlass ready and I'm away.
We could steal a new boat. When I say could I mean will.
