Muffy looks down, embarassed, "It was Rin, more than me - I'm afraid my skills were rusty, and without Rin's intervention, the food might have been as well... instead, because of her skill we get gormet Italian - and Harumi's rice balls!"

Well, they're kind of like your American donuts, but since I used brown rice they're more nutritious, and better tasting! She squirms anxiously. Come on people, try some!

Muffy

Muffy takes a rice ball and tries it. "It's very good, Harumi!"

Apple Pie

"Hmm like donuts."

Not having eaten donuts before either that statement meant nothing, but she couldn't break cover now. Apple took a bite and it was delicious.

"This is great! I have never tasted anything like it before."

Apple continues eating the rice ball.

Harumi

Harumi giggles. Oh good... to tell you the truth, I was worried I used too much sugar. Still... they're nothing compared to your pasta Rin! Hey... she gets a mischievous look. Maybe you could start packing my lunch?

"Well, it-"
And then she hears Harumi's request. Was she- ? No. She couldn't know. It must have been a more innocent request. Of course. It didn't have to mean that...
Still, Rin blushes a little, but it might be difficult to notice.
"Oh, um, I guess I could... if you really want me to."

Harumi

Harumi looks shocked for a second, and then her face flushes. Uhh... I was just... I mean, you don't really have to... but if you had time, that'd be cool. She takes a deep breath and overcomes her fluster. So Rin, we haven't had a chance to talk very much. Do you like costumes?

"...costumes?"
Rin looks rather confused, unsure as to where Harumi was going with this.

Muffy

Muffy smiles at Rin, "As in cosplay - wearing costumes... like Ume's vampire or Harumi and Apple's maid costumes earlier. If I understand it correctly, that is."

Harumi

Harumi bobs her head. Now that Noriko joined we've got four members, so I'm officially the president of the Cosplay Club. I have to admit I was a little nervous that I wouldn't be accepted as a first year, but everyone's been so nice so I guess I have nothing to worry about. What about you Rin? I've got matching bunny-girl costumes for you and Ume.

[Siren]

Apple Pie

"Yes like my beautiful maid dress."

Apple stands up and spins around in the dress.

"You want one like it right?"

"Oh, um, uh-"
Rin decides that sounds like a bad plan. She and Ume matching? No. Not at all. She had to find a way to politely decline, or at least buy herself time.
Ah, wait, here's a way.
"Well, if I'm going to wear a costume, I'd like to make it myself. It's been a while, but I used to be a fair seamstress..."
She catches herself.
"I mean, if you don't mind that."

Harumi

Harumi yelps with delight. Oh that's even better! That's what Cosplay is about, making your costumes and wearing them. Or even better, having someone else wear them. I just put Apple in one of my own to help get the word out. I'm glad that you have some experience with this, I think I'm the only other one that's done this before, so you can help everyone out too!

"Well, I've never actually made a costume before, but it can't be that much different, right?"
Rin smiles hopefully.

Harumi bobs her head. Any experience you have will definitely be a big help. And it doesn't really matter what you've done before, beginners are welcome.

Ume, who looks pretty much just as vampiric out of costume, eats a rice ball.

I haven't really had practice making any. I had a friend who was pretty good at it, I visit her during the summer.

Mio was next to Rin, happily munching on a rice ball and listening to conversation. She also got a bit flustered at Harumi's remark, and remained quiet until the topic of sewing came up. "Semapi, my mama taught me how to sew a little. Would you let me help you?"

Nanami didn't stay for dessert; she went to her room without a word.

Tsukiko kept quiet, apparently afraid of upsetting Muffy again. Noriko kept looking at Muffy, as if trying to deduce what her outburst had been about. Suddenly, Noriko seemed to realize something. "Weren't there supposed to be some teachers at this thing?"

Himei was standing apart from the rest, looking shy and awkward, when Atsuko came in. "Oh! You must be Himei!" Atsuko seemed to be rather borrowed. "Himei, could you come with me? I... there's something I need to tell yo..."

Atsuko gave Muffy a "please forgive me, I'll explain later" look and shepherded Himei out.

A short while later, Atsuko came back. "I'm so sorry, Mary, it's just that we've had a few problems. Keiko Samejima and Himei Suzuki won't be coming back, I'm afraid. Amelia, Rin, Katashi-san told me that you two should room together. You can pick which room you want to use. I have to go; there's a lot of paperwork to be done. Mary, I really am sorry.

"Of course, Mio. I'd be very happy to have your help."
And then Atsuko comes in and makes the announcement. Rin bites her lip, but nods, not complaining about the arrangement.

Muffy

Muffy is aware of Tsukiko's silence and Noriko's scrutiny, but she can only be quietly embarassed about her outburst and lack of control. When Atsuko apologizes, she shakes her head, "There is no need to apologize Sensei... I only hope the two girls are all right." After dinner is finished she will begin to clean up the dining area and kitchen.

Tsukiko hesitated, then moved to help clean up. It was rather apparent that at the first sign of distress from Muffy, Tuskiko would withdraw to give the girl some room. Noriko meanwhile looked exasperated at the awkwardness between the two. Mio also moved to help put away the dishes, with a merry backward glance at Rin as she moved away to help. "Thank you, Semapi!"

Rin smiles as she watches Mio, then gets up to see what she could do. The dishes had quite enough people on them, but...
Wait a moment.
She looks over at Atsuko.
"Teacher... did Professor Katashi decide not to join us? Was he busy?"

Atsuko shifted uncomfortably. The last time she had seen Katashi, he had been berating Keiko. He hadn't said he wasn't coming, but he had seemed more than occupied..

"I don't think so, Rin. He wasn't in the best of moods when I left him."

"Oh..."
Rin frowns, but then smiles and slips into the kitchen, getting a few containers. She fills these with the dinner she and Mary had prepared, and then quietly slips off with the food to find Katashi.

Muffy (39/40) (17)

Muffy smiles and works alonside Tsukiko to quickly straighten up the kitchen. Rather than being upset about it, Muffy finds it very relaxing to work alongside the other girl. When they are finished, Muffy turns to her and bows, then speaks to her very quietly. "Thank you, Tsukiko for your help. I would like to apologize for disrupting your harmony at dinner, I assure you that you did nothing wrong, my upset was entirely my own situation. If you wish an explanation, I feel I owe it to you, and I would be happy to give it to you privately - if you don't mind, at your convenience. If, however, it is of no matter to you, I assure you I will endeavor to be a good dorm-mate, and not trouble you by this kind of behavior again."

Tsukiko listened to Mary politely and attentively. She didn't look convinced, but she said, "You assurances are enough, Mary. I don't need to bother you further about this." And then she gave Mary the most serene, gentle, warm, honest, and heart-stopping smile she'd ever seen.

Muffy (39/40) (17)

The smile pierces Muffy's heart, and she falls helplessly - hopelessly in love. She tries to draw on all that she loves about Tsukiko to keep from troubling the other girl with her feelings, and smiles serenely back - trying not to blush.

Rin isn't entirely sure where to find Katashi, but she searches through the dorm as best she can, trying to remember any place during the tour that seemed a likely area.

Rin found Katashi in a staff room she'd seen on the north side of the dorm building. He was sitting at a table, attacking a pile of paperwork with a slightly unnerving determination and single minded focus.

"Professor Katashi?"
Noting his mood, Rin attempts to keep her presence and attitude in harmony with him, so she won't just be dismissed instantly. She knew how someone like this could get- her father was like this, and she herself could become focused as well.
"You missed the dinner that was prepared, so I brought some to you so you could eat as you worked."
She holds up the containers she filled, then places them where they won't be in his way, but will be available. On top of them she places a few napkins and utensils.
"If there is any way I can assist you, I'd be honored to help."
Her tone is sincere- she doesn't sound or look like someone just trying to suck up to him. Wouldn't someone like that try to get on Atsuko's good side, anyways? In truth, this is the sort of dynamic Rin is used to, due to how her father worked on business even at home. She doesn't feel the slightest bit out of place, and her own confident and relaxed attitude towards the situation might influence Katashi...

Ume

Ume watches Muffy, smiling at her. Ume seems disheartened that Himei wasn't coming to school, who would carry her bags now?

Ume takes out a small case for contac lenses, and pretends to be taking contacs off, when reality, she is putting blue coloured contacs off.

She seems rather bored, and looks around for something to do.
