Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
I don't mind Stripperiffic outfits — in fact, I quite appreciate them — but I draw the line at high heels on female fighters. Those are laughably impractical. Remember that piece of crap Van Helsing? All I could do was laugh whenever Kate Beckinsale tried to run in her hooker boots. No wonder she was useless in a fight.
I'm going to cross-post this image from the Manga thread in "Arts and Crafts." I don't want to get in the habit of borrowing pics from the Fanservice threads, but the Manga thread is not related to them. Plus, this version of Tsukiko is very meeeeoooowwwww.

Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
While Kaylee is definitely a cutie (quite a bit more in Firefly than in Stargate: Atlantis due to being a bit rail thin in the latter) there are three reasons for this:
1) This is technically an art thread. Not many live-action pics throughout, as you can see.
2) The thread veers more towards fantasy, although there are certainly quite a few cyberpunk/steampunk/modern fantasy pics sprinkled throughout.
3) Wars have been fought over who's the hottest member of the Firefly crew. In other words, YOU'VE DOOMED US ALL!Last edited by FoE; 2009-12-14 at 06:23 PM.

Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
Actually, that isn't why they are considered sexy. It is because of the posture change the enforce. They force the back to arch and the butt to stick out and up in a posture known euphemistically as, 'presenting', a sign of receptiveness to mate. This screams to brains attracted to females, 'oh yeah, she wants me'.
Of course, they also wack out our balance. Making hand to hand flighting and running difficult at best.

Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
Considering what I posted two pages ago (it inevitably leads to war over "Which FF girl is the most beautiful/awesome/whatever else metric?", "Terra or Celes?", "Best girl in fiction ever?", etc.) for my Goddess, this is nothing.
On a totally unrelated note, this came up with search "Random girl":

Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
I don't watch Firefly (or rather, didn't watch Firefly, as past tense seems more appropriate), but I think out of the actresses in Firefly, Jewel Staite is the most comely of them all.
Then again, I suppose that's why the war started, because starring on a TV show, all of them had to be comely to some degree, and different tastes call for different opinions.
That said...

Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
It seems like there's on artist in particular (not sure whether it's the same one) who insists on drawing people who are either sick or drunk. Annoys the bajeebus out of me... Why the rosy-red nose? WHY?!
Some really lovely stuff everyone, especially Eepop I think there's some new stuff from some of my favourite Devian Tarts... Hopefully I can find some boys, too. Probably some re-posts.

the glass is always 100% full. Approximately 50% of its volume is full of dihydrogen monoxide and some dissolved solutes, and approx 50% a mixture of gasses known as "air" which contains roughly (by volume) 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other gases.

Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
I've also heard it suggested that because of the way heels make a woman's (or a man's, for that matter) calf muscles look different, it suggests 'fleeing beast' to some 'predatory' aspect of the male (or 'attracted to womenfolk' anywho) psyche.

Re: Dungeons and dames. vixens of tabletops
That's not what the theory says. It says that that particular bit of imagery will trigger something in the man's subconcious that says "chase". I'm skeptical of this theory, but don't say it's claiming something it's not - in this case, that the man conciously thinks of the woman as prey.
