I'd say it'd be best to create a new thread and repost the images from this one in Quote Boxes on the first post. Obviously throw a link here so we know where to go.

You can then change the address for your images on the hosting site so that all the bandwidth-sucking quotes are broken. This should, hopefully, eliminate the drain from old posts and folks who are still hotlinking rather than hosting the images on their own sites.

I admit I don't know exactly what the problem is, but if it is quoted images then this is a way to fix it.

1. Import the image to be coloured into your program of choice.
2. Set the layer the image is on to "multiply".
3. Place the colour on the layers behind.
4. Export the image.

Don't you mean, place the color on a layer above the main black-and-white layer? That's how I do it, anyhow. Because it's set to "multiply", when you color over the black, the black still shows through.

That's the point. So you colour under the lineart.

Great, but I'm a true beginner with this. So I HAVE no program of choice. What's good to use for a quick coloring? Or just good in general?

The Gnu Image Manipulation Program (the GIMP ) is a good free program you can use. There's lots of free tutorials online for it, and you can ask me if you run into any snags.

That's not even necessary - Photobucket has an "Upload from URL" option.
