Just noticed, Deth Muncher, the link to the last thread is broken. It's got a xn--http-fb7a// between the http:// and the rest of the URL.

Bwahahaha, we have a sub in Web Page Design today, so its Halo Trial all day.

Re: Deth Muncher's Destructive and Meandering Random Banter #141
Question: Are they any playgrounders from Kuala Lumpur?
I'd really rather not go back this summer, and not know anyone there.
Hmm, do you think it'd be wise to start a thread about this, if no one knows any here?
@V: That made me laugh, and was discouraging at the same time. *shrug*Last edited by randman22222; 2010-05-05 at 05:23 PM.

Re: Deth Muncher's Destructive and Meandering Random Banter #141
So, my younger brother was messing around with genealogy charts, following my family's records, then crossing them with the internet records. Eventually, a Ship Captain who brought hundreds of people over to the New World from England. I totally expected it to end soon enough because of the difficulty of keeping records in the medieval time period.
However, to my surprise, it didn't end. Rather, it ran aground with a king. Because kings are famous and most of their lineage was recorded, it was rather easy to follow. Many of them, I looked up on Wikipedia.
And so, following along, the largest line went from English and Scottish kings, down to French kings. It continued along through kings, princesses, and emperors on both sides (father and mother of them), to the Holy Roman Empire and through several 'heathen' leaders, and to the emperors of the Roman Empire.
I continued (following three different strands of ancestors, some stopping and some splitting up so that there was a maximum of four known who were alive at the same time), down to many Eastern Europe/Middle Eastern place (the strongest line at that point was the founders and royalty of Troy). Slightly amused, I continued following until I recognized some biblical names, such as Ruth, Judah, and some others. I did not know that I was a direct descendant of Judah on my paternal side. Wow. Then, after that, as I followed it, it just went along with the Biblical record.
So my brother and I started looking, hoping we could just get into the triple digit years. I was really surprised to see it went way past the AD years!
How far has everyone else traced their ancestory (regardless of how certain you are about its correctness)?Last edited by Je dit Viola; 2010-05-05 at 08:30 PM.
I'm gone for a couple of years!
I'm off doing service in developing countries in South America
(Very little chance of internet access) - I'll try to come back afterwards

Lucas Tales:
6:02 "What if I convinced everyone that you were from New York?"
6:04 "What if I convinced everyone that (x) played with Tonka trucks?"
6:05 (strange, high-pitched cartoon voice from inside the shower, event hough he's not showering) "I'm trying to get laid!"
6:12 (following me out the front door) "What if you were a dog? What kind of dog would you be?"
6:31 (directly after I come back) "What if you shot a german shepherd?"
6:31 "What if you hit a dog with your car?"
He didn't receive a straight answer to any of these, although I've tried to address his strangeness in the past. I've since found that ignoring him does not increase or decrease the volume of queries.Spoiler<-I won this from Dr. Bath.Spoiler

Rutskarn, you should just patent this guy and get it over with. You can then sell him to a TV comedy primetime series, where he will quickly become the ensemble darkhorse.

Note to self: When visiting Rutskarn, punch his dormmate in the face in lieu of an introduction. Gain one (1) worshipper. If naked at the time, gain one (1) acolyte.
On ancestry: Father's side been tracked back 16 generations, then hops back across the Atlantic and disappears in a muddle of excess Dutch letters. Mother's side terminates at my mother, in a mass of lies, claims, and counter-claims. I have the likely surname of my grandmother now, but as for which of the liars it was, noooooooo idea.
My birthday's soon and I have no material desires. Good for me and life in general. Proving to be very vexing for my poor dear husband looking for a gift. WTB ability to better fake interest in gifts.

Most people in Europe may actually be descended from Genghis Khan.
There was a study conducted over here on lineage, descendants and genetics. It was found that everyone is related in some distant manner.
I'm actually descended from Manchurian emperors. To see the world in a grain of sand

Re: Deth Muncher's Destructive and Meandering Random Banter #141
Just listened to Rhianna's Unfaithful. Basically she's a girl having an affair then complaining about how she feels bad about cheating on her boyfriend because she knows it's killing him.
I don't know about the rest of you but I can see a very simple solution to this: don't cheat on him. If it's making him miserable and you miserable then just stop doing it. It's not like this is something that's out of your control, only a very stupid person would keep doing this when it's making them miserable.
If there's supposed to be some deep meaning behind this song then obviously I'm missing it, if not then this is just a very stupid song that shouldn't existPiratebold-Bard by Elder Tsofu | Backer #121 of the Giantitp Kickstarter | My homebrew

Re: Deth Muncher's Destructive and Meandering Random Banter #141
I've heard that, the evidence has something to do with blood groups too
I honestly have no real care about where my roots come from I suppose i'd care if there was some terrible genetic illness but thankfully all my family have died from over indulgence in difference vices. (not quite sure of the thankfully part of that sentence but it is better than knowing I am going to get some hideous illness)
My mum is dead into family tree stuff though maybe its something only certain people really care about.*runs off and hides*

Question: I know a lot of older Playgrounders are changing their names from their long, well known names to abbreviations. For example, BolddyRedCommie has been BRC for a while now, and Face of Evil is now FoE...why? Why not just leave it?

I think I'm supposed to be distantly related to Robbie Burns. Or Walter Scott. It was a famous Scottish guy anyway.
I now have a blog. Have a look if you wish. It contains those naughty profanities that you won't find here. If you like what you read send me a PM, or if you don't like it. I'd like to know how many people here read it.

Some of my ancestors grew onions by the Black Sea.
Others stole cows and sheep from the English.
I'm trying to coax a pun out of this, but I haven't put on enough jewelry yet today.Last edited by Kneenibble; 2010-05-06 at 01:39 PM.
