Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
Cool. So two questions:
Was Iris in the original game?
And do Saphrin's ninja-like jumping skills reference something that happened in-game?

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
Bah! It's at the bottom of the page, so it will be forgotten in 2 days.
@mucat Yes, Iris was in the original game. In fact, Saphrin gets Iris in game from start to finish. While she's focusing, Lucrid and Saphrin offically fall in love. So you could say that Lucrid and Saphrin were in love longer than Iris even existed.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
Iris kinda shoved them along. She was always a bit of a jerk.
I've always kinda seen the familiars as manifestations and/or exaggerations of their masters' id/ego/superego, generally the weakest of the three in the Master. Therefore, Iris is kinda representative of Saphrin's id, as Saphrin herself greatly suppresses her id. Fir, on the other hand, is representative of Serrin's ego/superego, as Serrin's id is very apparent.
And in Murphy's Law, it takes several months for them to fall in love. Saphrin will explain further in the update (Hopefully tomorrow!) as she leads Lloyd and co to the Secure Shelter she just cast.Last edited by CoffeeIncluded; 2010-06-27 at 01:47 PM.

So, she's sort of an anti-Jiminy Cricket?
Seriously though, this interpretation of familiars kind of reminds me of the daemons from Pullman's Dark Materials series.Last edited by RdMarquis; 2010-06-27 at 02:43 PM.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
Iris? Yeah. She's the one who tells Saphrin that she should let her hair down. Well, let her hair down more. And when Saphrin doesn't, Iris...Well, you saw how she got Lucrid down from that tree. You should see what Iris suggests that Saphrin do in the next comic. Well, you will.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
Eh, not really. She's kinda...You know how Belkar makes a lot of rude comments? Iris is like that. But she's not like Belkar in the other aspects. Iris is...I guess like a good-aligned Yelling Bird, for lack of a better description.
Okay, so I'm working on the comic now; it should be up tomorrow.
And if Murphy's Law were a serious drama or something, then I think this would apply for Matt. What do you say?My webcomic!

And then he played "Ding Dong, The Lich Is Dead" on the remnants of the grand piano. Which was on top of the lich.

I'm feeling a little brain dead at the moment, what was momma elf reffering to when she apologized to Tinder?
Nice stunt with the piano though

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
i must say i am envious of her adventuring group. so far mine has consisted of fools, greedy rogues, a female dominatrix bard, a male bard who can only communicate by singing, a (now dead/returned home) elderly bugbear everyone made fun of, and various others.
needless to say i'm the "butt monkey" (look it up on tvtropes) of the group. im also the one who made the bugbear and the male bard
but back into ontopicness: we ever gunna see what Tinder was talking about before? or is that just some kind of dragon-emo thing no one wants to hear about? also: mom is a pervert! XDAvy by Thormag

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
My opinion of this matter is three words long: Rule of Cool (or Will of God)
And the last panel of todays comic made me laugh.
Wow! Awesome song! I love music like that. And yes, it would fit Matt.
Hm, funny coincidence; the song could also apply for one of my own characters that I was just thinking about when I turned on the net..Alamryn Kven, a druid who tries very hard not to be useless.
Celesta Halla, a fearless barbarian.
Jheren Falconer, a drifter ranger.
Rhenner Calami, a snarky medic with an untrustworthy memory.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
Coffee...
You can't do that piano trick in 3.5. Maybe in 3.0, but not in 3.5. Instead, you could have Lucrid's last spell be Mass Cure Light Wounds where he heals the whole party and does enough damage to the Lich to bring it's hp down to 0 and kills it that way.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread The Third!)
Actually, I take back what I said. Dissect away, because the scene becomes even cooler.
This spell summons one handheld musical instrument of your choice. This instrument appears in your hands or at your feet (your choice). The instrument is typical for its type. Only one instrument appears per casting, and it will play only for you. You can’t summon an instrument too large to be held in two hands.
Secondly, there is no contradiction between the piano appearing at Lucrid's feet and above the lich's head...provided that he cast the cantrip while swinging from a chandelier directly above his enemy. (Yes, a fly spell would also work, but they revoke your bard license if you fly when there was a perfectly good chandelier to swing from. Preferably, in this case, a big spooky Phantom-of-the-Opera chandelier in the lich's parlor, which had been the focus of much foreshadowing.)
Coffee, you've crafted a scene which gets better with nitpicking! You know how rare that is?Last edited by mucat; 2010-06-28 at 02:24 PM.
