Elfy nods "where too next ma'am?"

Down to the next level, which I would suspect will be the main control room," Val answers, before looking at the Six. "...and please, be a bit more mindful of traps this time."

A young woman struggles through the rain, mud hanging from her clothes and sodden shoes like desperate children cling to a mother equally starving, dead plants and what might be dried-blood acting in a similar fashion as this girl, impoverished and exhausted, it'd seem, ploughs through the fields in what can honestly be described as nowhere in particular, panting and gasping for air, in panic and in woe.

Her mutters sustain her as she treads over rocks and road, her eyes scanning the paths ahead for someone, anyone, to save her - and, indeed, she catches sight of someone in the distance - a figure, cloaked, wreathed in darkness. Or just a cloak, long, torn, and tattered, gushing in the wind, with some degree of elegance. The girl, smiling (the smile a tear, a rip, across her tight skinned face, is incongruous with her body, and her surroundings, as the rain continues to pour). You! Over there! She calls out, her voice hoarse and rough. Please! Help me!

She starts to run, now, stumbling, slightly, her feet skimming over some rocks on the ground, bleeding gashes opening almost too easily as she runs fast, and without regard. Alas. The blood, though, only compliments that already on her skin, which, mixing with the rain, seems to regain some of its former vigour, as the girl approaches the figure on the hill, who removes her cloak, revealing a tall, imperious, beautiful woman, with porcelain features, and long, chesnut curls. A purple dress covers her doll-like form, as she's untouched by the rain. Flickering, slightly. Like a bad projection.

Not that the girl notices. She's a little busy, see. With the running and begging.
Please! Help me!

The figure, the woman, now revealed, smiles, slightly. Oh, darling. Can anyone really help you? That skin? Needs weeks of moisturiser. Maybe a whole month in a spa! And that hair? Sweetie, the 2000s are over. Try for a more Summer look. But maybe you're referring to the blood, eh? Bad boyfriend, huh? Tell me all about it. Tell the doctor what's wrong? The woman smiles more. She's used to this.

My boyfriend, yeah. He's crazy! How did you know? And how come the rain hasn't ruined your ha.. And hey! I look fine. Save for all the running! And blood. And stuff. The girl responds, accused and aggrieved, her worried eyes replaced by angrier ones.
Metaphorically speaking.

You'll look better like this. LaRoth says, smiling, slightly, lightning bursting out of her hands, dancing across the rain drops, to knock the girl to the floor. And be thankful, sweetie. Not just because I gave you the haircare tip you'd been needing (papaya, darling, it'll smooth those kinks, that irritating frizz), but because I'm killing you nicely. Nicely. Alek, he'll eat and claw you, inside and out. I'm being lovely. And don't get me started on the others, amassing. The big bads are all coming back, sugar, and I'm being nice. Your death, matters, too. It's just the start. As she speaks, she takes out a dagger (sacrificial, of course, curved and dark, almost.. glowy), and cuts the girl, incapacitated, apart - or her stomach, anyway.
I'm a cloaked woman, after all. That little boy El thinks it's his sister on the way, but I killed her months ago, and acquired her stuff. Her mojo. I'm not just the little girl anymore, either. But back on topic. Yes - cloaked woman. I cut and I stab. First stop... End begins.

I wonder if that Happy girl remembers me? Standing up, LaRoth smiles, as she steps backwards, into a perfectly silent, black window in the air, vanishing away as she utters her final words, as the sky shivers, two events conjoining to produce an effect.

And I wonder if she remembers her nephew.

"We were in no real danger." Plum walks on down, at a normal speed. Val's caution has its places, yes, but not here.

Val shakes her head bemusedly, and goes to follow them down to the next level!

Where there's a small landing, and a padlocked door.

[Recaiden]

Six will introduce this lock to the same laser used to enter previously.

The lock proves rather more resistiant.
But finally manages to get cut off, clattering to the ground.

There's the sound of something shifting, inside the room behind the door...

Quite possibly had planted the psi-disrupter before. Six spread out, with Plum and Seren by the door and Tavlii and Derrick by the stairs, and variously prepare themselves for having to fight things. Laser knife and feather, just a ready stance, a knife, a thin crystal wand, a ray gun, and sitting loosely with eyes closed and fingertips against temples.

The door should swing open slowly, exactly as if a psychokinetic at the back of the room was pulling at the door.

The door swings open. Revealing...

"The room is pitch black. You may be eaten by a grue," Val mutters, as she peers into the, well, completely pitch-black room revealed.

Aside from a single, green dot-like light, flashing on the far wall.

[Recaiden]

Cultural reference is not relevant to Six, and unrecognized.
"Nah, at the least, that bomb will get us first."

Ranna tosses in a little crystal lamp assemblage, which starts to glow, with the idea of revealing the room.

The light shows... what looks like a bomb! holo-device on the wall, waiting to be activated.

And a mouse, blinking in dazed befuddlement at the crystal.

Val steps in, scanning the room, which has what looks like late 21st century computer consoles around the walls, a crystal display board in the middle, and is still in squeaky clean condition. Well, aside from the cobwebs and mouse, ah, residue.

[Recaiden]

Late 21st Century? Ten years in we have keyboards that are just projections, holograms, projector screens, and machines you can control by concentrating. What'll it be like by the end of this century? Certainly they'll be beyond screens and consoles, ah? Holo-device sounds more appropriate, but even that might be a bit archaic.

Plum and Seren cautiously go inside.

Mid century then?
Something rather like the deck of the (new) Enterprise?

Val finds what looks like a lightswitch, and cautiously turns it on.

And...the lights and consoles power up! As if they'd only just been turned off.

[Recaiden]

So, like 1960s then? Ew.
"Someone was here."
Ranna goes to look at the nearest console.

elfy looks around shyly, and finds somewhere to stand ,where she won't be in the way

Nope. New Enterprise, from the new movie. All brightly lit and crystals and big glass displays and all.

The console looks like it's running through a self-test routine, scrolling text, and lots of it, in the same language as that found on the skeleton's uniform earlier.

Val notices Elfy, and waves her over. "You know, I think I know of a way you can help...do you recognise this language?" she asks her...ward?...with a smile, pointing at the console.

((It's, basically, Flemish))

"um...I don't know...I can read it, but I don't know what it is...should I translate?"

[Recaiden]

Oh, that one. Nice. Creepy look, but not bad, Six thinks.

Yup. One of the three Coolest Cool Ships ever.



"Could you please?" Val asks, smiling.

The text seems to be a generic OS boot-up and self-test sequence, then changing to a prompt for a password.

Six looks expectantly at the elfbot.

"It's a OS boot-up and self-test sequence...wait...it's asking for a password now"

((Destiny, Yamato, and neo-Enterprise 1701. Which would you rank cooler? ))

"Logical...and...we have no way of knowing what the password is."
Val pauses, dramatically.
"Unless it's 'swordfish', of course."

The holo-emitter gadget thing keeps flashing.

[Recaiden]

((Of those, I've only even heard of the Yamato. But the Enterprises in general are phenomenally ugly to me. *shrug* I'll get a list ready.))

"Likely in that language."

[The Bushranger]

((Destiny = the ship in Stargate Universe. Which doesn't deserve mention except for its Incredibly Cool Ship))

"Of course. So we have no idea what to put. Hopefully it's not one of those where you have to input the password in X time increment or it self-destructs."
It doens't look like that would be so...

((That one is nice. Serenity, Nostromo, Spelljammer, Raven, Millenium Falcon, Spaceship One, to begin with.))

Six starts trying out different combinations of sounds/words on the keyboard, most of them nonsense.

[The Bushranger]

((I'll admit some of those are pretty cool. Not as cool, but pretty cool.))

After one or more of the Six have entered four passwords, the system locks up...and shuts down!

Val sighs. "It seems they had a basic grasp of computer security, at least."

[Recaiden]

"Good for them." Plum sticks her tongue out at Val.
Of course they did.
The other five start looking for a way to shut off the power.

[The Bushranger]

Well, there is the power switch on the wall.
And a smaller, more conventional power switch on the side of the computer console.

"I wonder what that is?" Val points at the green-light-flashing holo-emitter.

[Recaiden]

Both are toggled off and then on again.

Kai goes to examine the holo-emitter.
"Maybe another computer? Different?"

[The Bushranger]

The one switch turns off everything. Including the lights!
When turned back on, it starts the booting sequence again.


"Looks like a handheld holopad," Val muses. "It should have an activation button..." she muses, as she walks over to them to look it over herself.

Indeed, there's a small, round button on the 'side' of the device.
