Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
She might have meant "not period-appropriate," which is a phrase you typically only find around historical re-enactments and time travel stories... but Misho's memories are all out of the First Age, so I guess his predicament is not unlike that of a stranded time traveller. He's had a while to get used to the changes in language, the fashions, and all that jazz, but he's still not native to this time period, and sometimes slips up. Especially when Compassion 5 is involved.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I do re-enactment, of the medieval variety, and we might refer to something as 'not period' if it's an anachronism.
Maybe he means that her thing she's complaining about is completely out of place?

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Yeah, I also thought it was an anachronism reference at first.
Which confused me since the reference itself seems anachronistic. Unless exalts have a different conception of time that I was unaware of.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Er, yes. That's the point: he knows how to cure cancer, but ordinary, non-Solar people in this Age don't. It's something that is not usual for this place and time, something that would make him stand out. Hence the use of the phrase "period-appropriate".
Time travel isn't a perfect analogy, because present-day Solars might be able to cure cancer too, but it fits well enough that it seems more likely than the alternative. "It's still not, period, mister" just strikes me as awkward phrasing.Avatar by GryffonDurime. Thanks!

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Sort of. My reading was that Misho didn't want her seducing people because, as an Exalt, she's far more seductive than a purely mortal woman, which might give them away. Just like Misho is far better at curing cancer than any mortal doctor.
Or at least any mortal second age doctor - presumably the better education, medicine, and infrastructure made mortal physicians much more effective in the High First Age (so I'd go with the time period interpretation of her comment.)When in doubt, light something on fire.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Wait, people actually like one of my suggestions?
SCORE!
*Ahem* Anyway, I read the misho marena argument as "It doesn't fit the (time) period" as well. It's funny, Marena points out that curing cancer isn't low profile and Misho points out that seducing entire small cities isn't low profile, and together their judgement is almost as sound as that of an eight year old. I say almost because the eight year olds I know know enough to avoid making it obvious they have a secret when not asked.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Okay, I admit cancer was probably a "take two of these and call me tomorrow" thing in the First Age, but Marena wasn't around then. While the statement might be true, I don't see why she'd use that phrasing at all. It's Misho who can't get over his past life, not Marena.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I actually had a short story about that written up, something like:
Dorothy: Moonshadow Abyssal, forced the others to follow her with caste ability.
Cowardly Lion: Full Moon Lunar, permanent Heart of Tears save effect iirc.
Scarecrow: Twilight Solar, looking for his memories
Tin Axeman: Soulsteel/Moonsilver Alloyed Alchemical (long story), sent to creation as a scout

Hey, speaking of avatars, being completely shameless and exploratory, could I have an avatar of a strong-willed blond petite woman with a dawn caste mark on the forehead, wielding a grand daiklave?

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
On a side note, I copy keychain stuff as well. I just consider myself a huge hack, so I don't broadcast it that much.
just as an example, I did this for my Dresden group pbp on the boards as a cast photo:
Spoiler
I don't really do 'scene' pictures/backgrounds, as my Inkscape work is basically my own way of venting my inner doodler, but I guess you can PM me if you wanted something done.Spoiler

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I'm rereading the comic with my slight knowledge of rules and getting so many more jokes and things. 8D
Also, has there been discussion and Wild Mass Guessing on Secret's mentor and his sword? Looks to me like he was one of the lead Solars, and had a very shiny sword, but he was one of those who got abyssalfied, and came to find the shiny sword.
Note: Shiny is a synonym for good. I'm a Whedon fangirl.
Also... I adore Nova. I dunno if Jukashi reads this often, but I really, really love Nova. When she first transforms and goes 'Rawr.' I literally burst out laughing.
Plus her expression when she sees Secret. Priceless.
...also, it's your fault that I'm reading your comic again instead of doing maths homework. XDLast edited by Lix Lorn; 2010-10-11 at 04:08 AM.
