Lunars have a Permanent Charm that allows them to raise an attribute above its "natural" limit, if I recall correctly. They can also get Attribute Specialities.

Also, an Appearance that high won't generally do anything most of the time, because the benefits for having a higher Appearance than someone else are capped at 3... unless you have Perfect Symmetry, a Lunar charm (or the Alchemical version, but I doubt Nova had that, not in the least because it hadn't been published when she first appeared.)

- Venus, the Maiden of Serenity: As established, not very hard.
- Mercury, the Maiden of Journeys: If you promise to really 'use the space'...
- Mars, the Maiden of Battles: Hey, love is a battlefield...
- Jupiter, the Maiden of Secrets: No reason anyone else needs to know. ... Or maybe IT'S A SECRET TO EVERYBODY.
- Saturn, the Maiden of Endings: Probably surprisingly easy, if it's the last thing you ever do.

I actually thought Kris meant he was going to make the Empress into the next Catharine the Great. That description you've put up isn't... that far from the Empress. Easy enough for a Lunar to claim he was the horse.
