Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
My internet COMPLETELY died during that... I finally got to replace the router... And I still can't connect to the old router with nothing but one computer on it. I don't think it's even giving out IPs... But on the bright side, I now control the network. So as soon as I get around to it, we can test the AHL server again. I forwarded the ports darth mario suggested, and once I reenable those forwards, we can try. And I need to forward tf2 server ports again.

As far as I know, there's no way to check for sure. And just to be clear, "round" means from map beginning to map end. On multi-stage maps like Hydro, Dustbowl and Gold Rush, this means you have to play from when the game starts to when the final point is capped (or until RED holds off, in the case of the last two.)

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Today, Dogmantra, Sciurus, Atheist and I played Four Swordsmen, (was pretty boring,) but that's not important.
Dog was carrying a gas can throughout The Passing, (dubbed Dogmantra Jnr.) and during the finale, accidentally poured the gas into the generator. We had been carrying the can since the start of said campaign, which intrigued us.
We could potentially save having to bring gas cans to generators at finale, if we bring our own. Thus we are about to embark on a small challenge/test.
How many gas cans can we successfully bring with us in either Dead Centre or The Passing and how much help would it be in ending the Finale?

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
So I've done a little reading on SourceMod's reserved slot program, and come across something that may be useful to us. As stated, it doesn't have a tiered reserve system (either you can access a reserved slot or you can't), but it does have functionality that would provide immunity from being reserve-kicked. Here's what the AlliedMods Wiki has to say about the subject.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
This was a very sad day :( My very first craft lol. And that was like my 2nd day of playing on the server.
Well im saving up to get a spy hat now, but its gonna take forever since i havent been playing tf2 much lately. I used to reach the item cap in 2 days, but now i dont think im gonna be reaching it anymore lol. Because the starcraft 2 phase 2 beta reopened up and i been playing that the past week.
Anyone else in the SC2 beta?

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
I think we'd need the tier based system because I'd hate to be kicked just for reserved slot when I only play ChHa. It would just be another reason to play on SHaFT.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
This slot reservation is part of ChHa's new drive to allow perceived 'regulars', 'Administrators' and 'Moderators' to join the server whilst it is in heavy use.
It booted you from the server, because it did not see you as being a moderator, administrator or a perceived 'regular' and because you had the highest ping or were unfortunate enough to be randomly chosen by the Server God.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Wait, reserved slots are on the server? Am I a part of it? Can I finally play on the server and finally, finally do something about all those complaints that keep popping up?
Hells yes. I missed you, ChHa.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Just got kicked for the 2nd time today due to slot reservation. Both times i been playing on the server for about an hour. Is it random?
Btw, i for one am extremely against reserved slots on the server...
Edit: Even if i qualify for 1, im still against it, but ill take the slot tho if i have the option lol...Last edited by Roku66; 2010-07-12 at 03:10 PM.

It was. I switched it to random selection.
The three choices are ping, random, or whoever's been on the longest.I write a gaming blog. It also hosts my gaming downloads:

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
As a SHaFT admin, may I make my opinion on the server issue known?
Yes? Ok.
There are 2 main reasons drolkcal and I started SHaFT.
1. We wanted to get more into comp play and we would need our own server for this.
2. We were getting tired of never being able to get on ChHa, when the server was full of mostly pubbies.
This was back a while ago at the first mention of if we as a community should get a second server. So, we decided to put our money where our mouthes were and started up SHaFT.
Yay! Now we have a place to play some good, fun TF2 with people we know and love. We freely gave you guys the password so you can connect and play with friends. We don't mind if your friends not in the GitP/ChHa community join. All we asked was for regulars not to connect when we were holding a skrim/practice, which isn't all that often.
We weren't doing this to steal thunder from ChHa. This was not our intention at all. We didn't start this to show everyone how much better we could run a server compared to ChHa. We did this because we like playing smaller games with friends. We were tired of the spam, of the trolls, of the general attitude we were getting from pubbies on ChHa.
But, now, I feel like we're being made out to be the bad guys because everyone is starting to play on SHaFT now. The community was getting tired of the gameplay on ChHa, so they migrated to SHaFT. I don't think the reserved slots thing will change much. I feel like it's going to turn ChHa into something else entirely, for the worse. Paid for reserve slots? This, to me, reeks of elitism. It keeps ChHa from being a place to play with friends to playing with people who have the biggest pocketbook. I can understand reserved slots for admins, sure, it's their server. But kicking out a community member for one that paid? Is this really somewhere we want to go? This would take it down to whoever has the bigger pocketbook, which, I, quite frankly, do not find fair. I just want to be fair to every contributing community member.
And remember, pubbies aren't bad. It's how I found you guys. And I know I'm not the only one that joined the community this way.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Wasn't blaming you, Monarch. Just trying to see how to bring ChHa back on the map as a server both we AND the pubbies can play on. I personally love ChHa, and have put a lot of work into it, so I'm rather upset to see that so few of the people I love playing with are reliably on it, after all my efforts. Nothing against you, drolkcal, or SHaFT, obviously.
