[Rizban]

Ezekiel Jedder replies to the hooded man's offer, "Your offer sounds quite good, but I'd like to make slight a counteroffer. 100 gold per day, starting today. I'll give a 500 gold bonus at the end of the first week if you prove to be effective and efficient. Further, you will be allowed to keep the loot from any assassins you defeat, provided I am permitted to examine it first. Examining it personally will allow me to potentially identify who hired the assassin."

[Lyndworm]

"This seems reasonable... Alright, I accept your offer. Do you have a first order of business, or should my compatriots and I discuss further action?"

[Rizban]

As you are saying that, a dwarf which appears to be made out of something like stone enters the room, having just pushed his way past an angry human who stormed out of this very room.

The earth dwarf hears Ezekiel Jedder's words about the payment offer as well as the response to it. Upon looking around the room, he sees a female halfling, a male dwarf, and a tall cloaked and hooded man whose features he cannot see. The hooded man is the one who just spoke (he's Lyndworm).

The four turn and look at the newcomer, and Jedder says, "Ah, you must also have been directed here by my servant. I had expected him to have found no more after this man arrived," he indicates Lyndworm's character, "but I am glad to have all the protection I can obtain. It seems you heard my offer for payment, and the others have accepted it. Do you have any problems with this or any questions?

I think that further discussion amongst you would be best, as that would allow you to coordinate your abilities best and offer the most adequate protection to me."

[Lyndworm]

"This is acceptable. Where will you be staying while we discuss our strategies? I mean no disrespect, but it would be unwise to leave the premises without your guards at least knowing your destination." The cloaked man's voice is oddly hollow-sounding; it has a strange, monotonous resonance to it. He sits sideways on a chair to make room for a strange. crescent-shaped polearm strapped loosely to his back. Other than that and a pack showing through the cloak, no other equipment is visible.

[Wabbajack]

"I would be glad to be one of your protectors. And working in a team is always better than working alone."
The dwarf looks at the other persons.
"And I think I should talk with my supposable team companions about the skills ans abilities we have to offer."
With this the dwarf begins to grin.

[Rizban]

"Why, I intend to sit right here and listen to the discussion and offer advice and my concerns where necessary, of course."

The halfling winks at the newcomer. "I'm a sword fighter, and there's none who can outmaneuver me in close combat. I excel at locking down individuals in battle such that they can go nowhere without me stabbing and cutting them to ribbons."

She turns and faces the tall, robed man, indicating that he should speak next.

[Lyndworm]

"Very good. I am a hunter by trade. I can track, and I excel at stealth maneuvers. This weapon," the cloaked figure removes the polearm from his back, showing that it has the strange crescent-shaped blade at both ends. "Is for more than show. It hits hard, it hits fast, and it hits often. You might call me a combat specialist. I find things to combat, and I combat them. It is the way of my people." The man's voice has not improved, and it becomes obvious that all is not right with him as he moves around. His torso seems too long for his legs and he moves in odd, jerky-yet-graceful bursts; seemingly a mobile contradiction.

[Rizban]

The first dwarf says, "Well, I'm a retired army officer and am well versed in tactics. I'm going to be focused mainly on trying to help the rest of you do your job better. Of course, I'm not to shabby with a weapon either.

I must admit knowing we'll have two dwarves in this makes me feel a good deal better."

He claps the newcomer on the back.

"So, what is it that you do, friend?"

[Wabbajack]

"I am primary a warrior, but I can use arcane magic to augment my attacks or help a person to escape when the situation gets to dangerous."
The raven on his shoulder slightly pecks at the dwarves face.
"Don't forget me, caw!"
"Oh, and I've got a familiar. He can act as scout or sentry and help me deliver my protective spells to our client if the need would arise."

[Lyndworm]

"To summarize, I pounce and think like a bad guy, the halfling is a swordswoman, the dwarf is a tactician, and you're an arcane warrior?"

[Wabbajack]

"So it seems. I take it that you are a ranger? If yes I could borrow you an Eternal Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds to heal our client if the need would arise. If not than we are in lack of healing, which isn't very good."

[Lyndworm]

The man nods. "I have had training as a ranger, though I do not cast spells as some. I am of a more martial bent. A wise thought, and a good point, though."

[Rizban]

"Well, with that said, I think the best option is to split it up such that Madam Frella begins her shift at 6 in the morning, Dormian here comes on around noon, you, cloaked man, come on at 6 at night, replacing Frella, and you, other dwarf, come on at midnight, replacing Dormian. That seems like the best rotation to me, but you are free to suggest a different rotation if you think it better.

What are your names, anyway? You both came just late enough to miss that part."

[Wabbajack]

"My name is Mjoethvit Glutklinge. And I think the general idea is good, but the remaining people should never go to far away and tell us where they will rest. My Familiar will remain here and contact the three resting persons if something would happen."
"Then I just need to be awoken and I'll show you how a good messenger works. Caw!"

[Lyndworm]

"That rotation sounds as good as any other, really. My name is Krak'kichta Gokchta. You may call me whatever you like; I know that my name is hard to pronounce when you are unused to such things."

[Wabbajack]

[[OOC: I just saw that my eternal wand works for every arcane caster >.< If one of these characters has ranks in Know(arcana) or Spellcraft could he maybe remind my character of that fact?]]

[Rizban]

"Ah, right, you missed that part. You'll each be working a 12 hour shift with 6 hours overlapping on each side. There won't be fewer than two of you on duty at any given time.

Mjoe and Gokchta. I believe I can remember that."

[Rizban]

"Seeing that it's about 6 right now, that puts Dormian and Gokchta on duty. Frella, Mjoethvit, I suggest the two of you get some rest. Mjoethvit, you'll be on duty in 6 hours.

If you need anything else to do your job effectively, then just let me know. I've just closed up shop here, so the two on duty should probably escort me home soon."

[Lyndworm]

"I'm carrying more than what I need to get this part of the job done. You mentioned a 'Pirner' earlier... What can you tell us of this creature?"

[Rizban]

"Pirner is my greatest competition in the market. He and I have never had much of a conflict before, but we've recently been having a nasty price war that has just continued to escalate. There was an attempt on my life the other night, and I can only assume he or one of his allies paid for the attempt."

[Lyndworm]

"This seems likely... Very well. I don't think that I have any further questions."

[Rizban]

Dormian and Gotchka escort Mr. Jedder home uneventfully. At midnight, Mjoethvit arrives to replace Dormian. Around one o'clock, you both a scratching sound coming from just outside the window.

[Lyndworm]

"Hold your position, Mjoethvit; I'll check it out." Gotchka strides swiftly to the window and attempts to peer out without being seen.

Jedder is asleep in the next room. His room has no exterior walls and only one door, outside of which you are posted.

An extra pair of arms snake out of Gotchka's robe and pull his staff weapon from his back. He makes a "Stay quiet" motion with his upper arms, and then they, too, grip Gotchka's weapon.

The creature continues to fiddle with the lock, seemingly unable to bypass it.

Mjoethvit hears a sound coming from the far end of the hallway.

Gotchka nods to Mjoethvit and uses one hand to wave him towards the end of the hall. He remains poised above the creature at the window.
