And they say Caravaggio may have been the first to use the camera obscura to project an image later to be traced for a painting's cartoon. Piffle and tchah. Question is, was his left-handedness right brain strange enough to cope with the projected image being upside-down? For all we know, that flying machine may instead have been a drilling machine.

Shaving is my WORST ENEMY. I have thick, coarse hair which translates into ungodly razor burn. And it refuses to grow into anything decent-looking, as well.
I recently invested in an electric razor, so I just keep it basically-shaved instead of actually-shaved to offset the itch.
My cheeks are an exception. They are shaved WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE.Everything I say is 100% TRUTH*

I am making Lego video game sprites.
I have already made a Question Mark Box, and a Super Mushroom.
I have a whole bunch of red and blue left, along with a serviceable amount of yellow.
What should I make next?

I only watched one hour of NBC last night, and I am already sick to near death* of hearing about "The Event!"

Seriously, I don't think 2 minutes went by without NBC reminding me about "THE EVENT"
I don't know if you have American TV in Atlanta or if you'd heard of a show called LOST, but it is a show that starts with a giant mystery or 8 and throughout the series, it adds more mysteries and occassionally solves some of the mysterious mysteries that are going on.
"The Event" is a show on a network channel that will air tonight. It is yet another attempt to take the formula for LOST and try to turn it into another hit show.
SpoilerApparently a young man stumbles onto a government cover-up so big that it will change the face of all man-kind forever and ever, and destroy civilivations if it ever comes to light. I bet that its "The Hilton tape was faked."

Re: Seriously, I don't think 2 minutes went by without NBC reminding me about "THE EV
The phrase "The Event" is quickly turning into one of those things that makes me instantly want to put my fist through something. Of course I never will, because whatever I broke would inevitably be too expensive to replace, but... gah. Most irritating advertising campaign in a long while, and without having watched a second of it I can tell you that they've already built "The Event" up into something so big that whatever it winds up being will never be able to live up to the hype in a thousand million years.
I'm not really even sure how I would have fixed that. I think it's just one of those shows that's a failed concept from day one, and they didn't have anybody on staff with the foresight to shoot it down before it reached the public.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
If, in thirty years, the small crystalline spider webs that drift through the blueness of space with nary a whisper approach this miniscule and insignificant part of the universe, intent on entrapping us in all in their etheral rainbowing beauty, do you think it's possible they would sing?
Crystals resonate and sing if struck after all.
But there's no sound in space.
Now, it's obvious that the crystal webs would resonate given the high amount of space rubbish in orbit around us; but at what point would the non-sound of space become the sound of an atmosphere?
Yes, this is quite inspired by that episode in TNG. No. I don't know why I started thinking of it.
I was writing a story, and got stuck on a detail. And now I've lost track of the plot - and in fact, the entire story - but whimsical and odd minds wish to know.
And for the record, yes, the creatures living in the web would eventually descend to devour us all in a rather upsetting manner.

Re: Seriously, I don't think 2 minutes went by without NBC reminding me about "THE EV
And here you are supporting the hype!
Part of me is intrigued, because it could be something cool like Heroes - where some mystery before it led into a great show (for the first season anyway. After that it went downhill....). But my intrigue is past the point of not needed to see commercials every commercial break for it, and in those ad snippets during the show that run on the bottom of the screen.
PS. Hilton was faking it during the taping - does that count?

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
Thanks! Its tuskburgers for supper tonight!!
They are trying to recapture the LOST crowd. Even from the things they've said on the Wiki, they promise to answer the mysteries. I do agree that they are hping this up so much that it can't live up to its expectations, so I wager the reveal is going to be so off the wall that its insulting to the viewer's intelligence that they are supposed to believe its plausible.
I swear I wrote Atlantis and Rawhide snuck in and changed my post.
It won't be that upsetting. The melodious songs of his web will have lulled us all into a passive trancelike state. It will be like being dissolved from the insides in your sleep.
That's why we've moved the conversation to smacking walrus with a shovel and how pleasant it is to be eaten by a space spider.Last edited by Atreyu the Masked LLama; 2010-08-18 at 02:05 PM.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
It's a series of webs. Those web that house colonies of spiders - there can be over ten thousandof those spiders in one colony.
So we're talking about eighty five thousand space spider about to eat us all.
I do like the trance theory though.
But it'd be funner somehow if it merely paralysed you, and then you kind of suffered from locked-in syndrome, so you would see and distantly feel what was happening. Being perfectly aware of it the entire time.
About a species of colonial spiders that live on crystalline webs that drift throught the universe destroying evrything in their path as they migrate from galaxy to galaxy in search of new prey.
So it seems they would sing.
So the distant ringing that you hear sometimes?
That's the spiders, laying their traps and floating down to the surface of this green land in silken parachutes, awaiting for the chord that will end us and all life on this planet.
Whether or not water-dwellers will be spared is undecided at this time.
Duh.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
If the spiders can survive the vaccuum of space, I imagine that water wouldn't be a problem, unless they severly hamper the spider's manuverability.
Hmmmm...I thought we were talking about 1 ultra giant big spider the size of Kilomanjaro, but I think I could survive 85,000 smaller ones. I have some experience fighting giant spider hordes after "The Event." Although the thought of being paralyzed and feeling everything really creeps me out.inner circle Legionary of Resiliance

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
Space isn't exactly water though, so while it would impede a spider's manoueverability, probably not enough to Save the Seals, Whales, Sharks or Dolphins. The deep sea pressure may preserve life though.
Well, eighty five thousand small space-spiders would still be fairly big.
If they can survive your years floating amiably through space, maybe the size of a human? Certainly not much bigger than a house at any rate.
I'm glad you appreciate my creepy death scenario, there's nothing more terrifying than seeing something happening to your body, but not actually being present enough to feel it properly or do anything about it.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
In space they might not resonate with a sound, but perhaps solar winds would cause a unique frequency to be broadcast that could be picked up by highend recevers. Vibration dosnt strickly cause sounds, it can cause radio signals, infact thats how radiowaves are put out, vibrations.
So a supercomplex living crystal creature, should put out some sort of frequency, even if we dont have the equipment to hear it yet.Last edited by SpiderMew; 2010-08-18 at 03:25 PM.
