Mongolian Liberation Front activity over the last season has been increased significantly. It is unclear whether they are simply investing more resources, or are receiving outside help.

This season shows a concentrated effort on seizing Japanese infrastructure. Coupled with the attacks, a media campaign has been rising up against Japan. Videos showing unjust executions and murders organised by the Japanese government are being released to the public weekly.

A hundred-thousand had spread themselves on the fenced-in grassy enclosure behind the Austrian Parliament building in downtown Vienna. The grass beneath their feet had been trampled to a brown pulp. Perhaps one in a thousand carried a hastily-assembled sign. The yellow sun was setting behind the murky horizon behind the capitol building, and many thousands in the crowd were dressed in night-clothes only, robes and suits and flimsy dresses blowing in the wind.

The assembly had been called less than an hour ago. Barely enough time had passed for the television crews to set up their equipment. By now, every channel would be broadcasting the same static shot of the podium on the steps of Parliament. The Hapsburg flag flew high on the pole atop the dome of parliament, practically silhouetted against the sky.

Gustav Hiltz, chancellor of the Austro-German Federal Labour Party took to the podium without fanfare. A few in the crowd were unsure whether to clap. They had all read the rumors on the internet, or seen their speculation on TV.

Gustav was a sturdy man. Six years as a sailor in the Austrian navy had left him in a permanently militaristic stance, with shoulders squared and one hand pressed against the flat of his back as he walked. The same time of service had also left him with a badly broken leg which healed improperly, but he tried to hide the limp (as he always did) as he strode across the stage towards the podium. His dark hair was combed immaculately behind his head. Enough makeup had been strewn across his hard face for him to appear dark and handsome on camera. He knew politics was as much appearances as words, but the former had always been a struggle for him.

With words... Well... There had never been a struggle.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he began, settling himself into a resigned tone. "It is my great displeasure to inform you that many of the rumors which have been circulating are unfortunately true. It is my greater displeasure to inform you, imperically and truthfully, that approximately sixty-nine minutes ago, Emperor Patrick the Third's motorcade was attacked on Highway 17 by seven assailants. The attackers were equipped either with explosive grenades or some other explosive weapon, as well as assault rifles.

"The Emperor was struck by shrapnel in the chest, and twice in the head by gunfire. He was killed immediately."

The crowd started to writhe. Hiltz didn't need to see a single individual face to sense their collective transformation. Into what, he wasn't positive, but he had accounted for everything that could go wrong. Security in the crowd was triple the usual presence even for a coronation, and most were plainclothes.

Behind him, the Hapsburg flag began to lower atop the Parliament building. It hung, suspended for a moment at half mast, watched by millions of eyes across the world. It hung there only a moment, and then fell the rest of the way to the bottom.

"The assassins were killed by Imperial bodyguards on the scene," Gustav continued, making no mention of the flag. "None escaped. It is these times that try us, these times that separate the weak from the strong. If we show weakness, then these terrorists have won. Though there is loss in our hearts which can never be filled, we must persevere. Our nation, and our government, must continue.

"In such a situation as this, our government has automatically entered the Winter Contingency. A temporary, emergency government has been established to extend over this emergency period and facilitate the transfer of power lawfully. As Chancellor of this Parliament, I have assumed command of this emergency government. May god help us all."

He turned and walked from the podium as the crowd continued to edge closer to boiling. Few of them noticed initially, over the capitol building, as another flag rose in place of the Hapsburg flag. It was the flag of Federal Labour. It was the flag of New Germany.

Government policy is aimed squarely at the goals of defeating the loyalists, as well as enacting a national information campaign informing citizens of the benefits of democracy and it's freedoms. We have 3,5 points total to spare, and I believe it'd be fair if we gave 1 point each to me and Sanctum because we each lost 1 point of Mil (plus Sanctum built the Coalition) and half a point to the rest of you. The newly appointed Minister for Europe, Raymond Osbourne makes his speech to those who will decide whether the UK is allowed entry into the EU.
