I didn't actually know who was taking Roy's place, I'm relieved to hear that it's someone good. I may not listen to Rhapsody of Fire much, but I enjoy Fabio Lione's vocals.

Fabio is an amazing vocalist, yes. But going to see Kamelot without Roy Khan is like going to see Iron Maiden without Bruce Dickinson...
And that's why I won't be seeing them this April. I have three gigs that month, plus another in June and Iron Maiden in August, and I saw Murderdolls last month. I've already spent a lot of money on gigs this year and I'm not forking up another 20 pounds to go and see Kamelot knowing it won't be the same or anywhere near as good as when I saw them last year.

Aaaand they're not going to Indiana.

Chicago and Cleveland might be doable, though.

Rhapsody are okay (I can never decide whether I like them or not- don't crucify me!), but Roy is seriously the bomb. I have a mancrush on him to a massive extent. But yeah, I love the rest of the band and I'm not gonna pass up the chance to see them just because Roy isn't there- it feels petty to pass up the opportunity

This is encouraging. Still, I feel I'm mainly going to end up going for alestorm. Shame I won't be able to buy beer, that's the one gig where it seems I should be drinking beer (IMO buying beer at a gig is a waste of money most of the time).

They're really good. That song seems familiar for some reason.

I myself have been listening to lots of Alestorm lately. I think I caught the pirate fever. Can't wait till Back Through Time.

Shipwrecked is a really fun song, I think that album is going to be good. Alestorm is not a very good band, but they're a lot of fun to listen to. /m\ And I'm gonna try and see them when they come to the US with Kamelot.

Being the proud owner of a Roland AX-7 (as used by that dude from Alestorm) and having played keytar in bands, I feel qualified in saying one keytar is generally enough.

I was thinking more a band that somehow managed to sound like a real band, but one that did it on synths.

So something like say... Amon Amarth, but all synths.

Since when is Kraftwerk not a real band? I understand that tastes differ, but anyone well versed in music history would know that Kraftwerk is one of the most influential and important bands of all time. I, for one, love 'em, but I can understand how other people would not.

Honestly, it sounds like you're looking for this, except played live.

Yeah, sorry, wrong word. What I mean is a rock band that uses syths instead of guitars. Kraftwerk is a real band, very much so, but they played electronic music, which is what synths are often used for.

Amon Amarth has never disappointed me, and they've been fantastic since Fate of Norns. It's unfortunate that they're not coming to Canada for their US tour.

I saw Kalmah last night, and they were amazing. However, the openers were mostly terrible, and "The Black Waltz", which is my favorite song of their set, was poorly done. However, the rest of the set made the night 100% worth it.

Wow now that is disappointing I had not checked their tour dates recently, and just assumed they would come on over, as they have done before.

So like this then? But instead of being a fun little joke, the gimmick is stretched out to be the band's entire sound.

...I'm not so sure about this band concept.
