Technically procreation within the Trantis Coalition is still possible, as orgnaic bodies have not been completely done away with, although it would admittedly be less common. However, the completion of the Frames (which accomodate biological elements as well) would enable it to be much more common once again, as these morphing bodies are now more common than either computer hardware or human bodies.

    The Meeting of the Elders
Shortly after the announcement made by the Kingdom of Procyon the alien trade station seems to ripple as a massive rift opens up inside the gate. Then a massive ship breaks through. Similar to Jelthe's own dreadnought the alien warship moves to take up a position next to the station. And as soon as it does the gate flares briefly before another flaghip comes through. And then again and again. In total five of the behemoths arrive in the Procyon system and form a defense perimeter around the alien trading station. It is obvious however that not just being warships each of these ships serves a specialized function and was specifically crafted. While Jelthe's own flagship is fitted with immense cargo pods and long range engines these other warships vary. One is bulbous and appears to be fitted with immense shields. The second is long and thin and appears to have been built around a single spinal weapon. The third is a mass of hangars and maintains a constant swarm of buzzing drones around it. The third is smaller than the other, but is fitted with gargantuan engines that let it easily outpace them. The fourth is almost invisible only showing up as a sensor ghost that would normally be missed if it wasn't for the other ships focusing all the systems attention on the area. And the last is a true warship bristling with weapons and fitted with layer after layer of armor that show the scars of countless battles as battle trophies.

A broadcast is aired by Jelthes shortly after the ships arrive.

"I would like to thank my gracious hosts the Glorious Kningdom of Procyon for airing their message of mine. Hopefully that will reassure you of my truthfulness and that this is by no means an invasion. As to any who hope to buy my many goods, do not worry. Although the Fiery Eye that Trades will itself be closed I have already ordered the construction of a smaller temporary station to serve all your commercial needs for the duration of my clans meeting."

    ATV SAR 3419/AV
(Minor Corrections here. Mostly in that its one main ship and a lot of smaller tenders not a station.)

In the YZ Ceti system a single leviathan has taken up position in orbit around the star. Although not as large as the recently departed moon ship it still dwarfs anything human and even the newly arrived dreadnoughts in the Procyon system. Its flanks are covered in armor and massive hatches from which numerous smaller ships are disgorged and go about the system on unknown errands.

Shortly after it arrives a massive psionic broadcast hits every human within 20 lightyears.

"I am ATV SAR 3419/AV. I have come to trade with all who are willing to meet my price. My catalog is extensive and all encompassing. Come, look, buy. All forms of trade goods and art objects will be accepted as valid currency."

OOC: I'll get to everyone's specific messages and exploration tomorrow. I just thought I'd post the general stuff since I had it ready.

    The Commonwealth

    K'Krex Infiltrators

In light of the event, the Commonwealth increases surveillance on the status of the K'Krex in Epsilon Eridani. There's been some rumours of a 'solution to the K'Krex problem' being discussed among high-level Commonwealth generals and politicians, but so far no official comment.

    Sthuthid Federation

The Commonwealth is deeply concerned about the destabilization of an important neighbour and asks the Tian Technocracy to release details of the situation as quickly as possible.

    Humanist Conference

The Commonwealth will be glad to host the conference and will be devoting resources to its security.

    PDRR Referendum

George Kovan Varulf is saddened by the abrupt decision of Wijk to leave his position. However, unofficially hopes are high that the upcoming free elections in the PDRR will help overcome old feuds within the Commonwealth.

    CAP and Aurelian Referendums

The CAP felt they had no outside threat a few years ago, just before they were suddenly attacked by the Hive Mind and saved only by the timely intervention of the Commonwealth and other human states. The galaxy has, time and time again, proven to be a dangerous and unstable place. Sthuthid Federation suddenly collapsed just a few weeks ago, strange and advanced outsider races are beginning to show attention to local cultures and a war with the K'Krex has recently ended. Security does not mean belligerence - the Commonwealth does not push for war. However, security is still necessary.

The Commonwealth, as mentioned, also has good relations with most nations currently known. We are currently undergoing scientific exchange with House Ghalamander, we are a major trade power with all of GKoP, EVRAZ and the Cygni Accords races. The existance of the Coalition proves the goodwill other human factions have towards the Commonwealth.

Economically, the CAP boom has resulted from a general galactic trend driven by the Commonwealth Free Trade Zone as well as GKoP and EVRAZ. This has caused the economies of almost every system to enter a period of fast growth, but it won't last forever. The CAP economy is a small unit and susceptible to reliance on powerful neighbouring economic interests - in the Free Trade Zone the growth and its results are directed to the individual areas while EVRAZ policies call for centralization and economic exploitation.

In the Aurelian Colonies, the Commonwealth wishes to note that the tensions might as well be sparked by the government ignoring the large segment of the populace wishing for the union - status quo will only make the unavoidable conflicts worse and, potentially, bloody. Also, the Way of the Star Gods is present at some strength in the Commonwealth as well, House Varulf being the group which originally brought the Way out to the general Galactic community. So far, there have not been any real clashes between these groups within the Commonwealth.

But most importantly, the Commonwealth represents a revival of the old ideal of a single Terran nation representing our species to the outside. Not only would this help prevent political upheaval (and the worse possibility of inter-species war) as well as ensure that the rights of the individuals and the policy of democratic elections are upheld and present for all, together our species holds the promise of uplifting ourselves on the level of the super-advanced aliens we have already seen and becoming something more than we are. Technological, economical and political growth multiplies exponentially as overlapping systems are reduced. We can colonize the systems around us, increase the quality of life of every man, woman, child and alien, unravel mysteries that have long eluded us, like the Warp itself.

Together, we can be more than we are now.

    Overpopulation

The Commonwealth extends an invitation for foreigners to apply for Commonwealth citizenship. There are plans for further colonization, and there is still plenty of space in Lalande for adventurous souls. Meanwhile, the more developed worlds of Commonwealth space are currently experiencing quick economic growth and promise jobs, living space and quality as well as security.

    Commonwealth, Maria Sanchez Resigns

Following the decision by the Adelbert Wijik to leave the Commonwealth, Maria Sanchez, head of CIA and close friend of Wijik announced her resignation.

''I was not forced from my position. This is my decision, as the head of CIA shouldn't have any suspect loyalties.''

The Senate will discuss the candidates for the new chief of CIA position in short order.

    Kej Preservation Society

After being granted access to the archives in the Terran Federation, the Kej Preservation Society announced a press conference.

The KPS leading spokesman Andrea Felton makes the shocking announcement:

''Our study of proto-Kej, limited communication we managed to establish with their species and archives of the Old Terran Federation, have led us to believe, that humanity has acquired the Warp Technology from the Kej. The period of time, when WSD technology was discovered, or as we now suspect reverse-engineered, was turbulent and characterized by strife. The various terran factions worked to maintain technological superiority, thus the origins of the WSD were initially concealed and later lost in the nuclear fire of the Unification Wars.

The KPS believes, that long before Old Terran Federation established a WSD network, there existed another one, maintained by the Kej. There were several documented cases of WSD devices maintained or even reactivated by the them in the recent years. If we manage to establish a greater rapport with the Kej species, they may ensure that the lifelines of our very society, the Wrap Lanes remain stable and secure. This is most important, especially in the light of the recent K'Krex Wars, when destruction of the WSD was used as a legitimate war tactic.

The Shadow Beast is both greatest and weakest, for its hunger is insatiable and its strength is not its own. Yet it may yet rule, should it best the destiny. The Beast with Shadow is strong, yet the Shadow seeks to consume his strength. The beast must rid itself of the Shadow to survive. The Beast of Many is strong, yet the blade that will cut its head off and drive it mad lies among the stars. For Beast of Many has unchained that sword and thus its own doom.

    Tian Technocracy - True Threat

''I'm Kojik Meshakov, a soldier and veteran of the Hive Mind War. For how long are we going to ignore, that Tian Technocracy has been actively plotting against Commonwealth and is the puppet master behind the Hive Mind? Admiral Stross was nearly assassinated during the key battle, and the assassin had full access to our computer systems. Our ship's weapon systems were hijacked to shoot at K'Krex ship, before the Hive Mind War erupted. It was later discovered our systems were infiltrated by an alien virus. Now is there any other race more obsessed with computer technology and capable of developing something so potent, other than Tian Technocracy? I say no.

They have declined to assist us during the first Hive Mind War. Then, when Hive Mind attacked Sthuthid Federation, they were like white knight coming to the rescue and thus the Cygni Accords was founded. Afterwards in their operation against Hive Mind, when even WNNC technology failed to pick up on Hive Mind, they somehow managed to locate them and succeeded in capturing Hive Mind Ships. Think about it, Hive Mind drones were beaten in ground combat.

Those things are f***ing insane murder-machines. The best soldiers we have would find them at standstill at best. Well, there were no fighting. Hive Mind obeys the Tian and they surrendered. Now we are to believe, they are ''prisoners'', when they are just waiting to join in Tian conquest.

''I represent ''Reach for Truth'' organization, that was formed after an alien attack has taken lives of forty thousand Reach citizens. The culprit was never discovered. Can we hope, that Commonwealth would bother finding the truth, so the children of the victims, may at least find some peace in knowing justice was served?''

Coalition's Espionage Report on Reach Attack.

    Anti-Spice Groups:

''The recent festival in the Proxima Antilae has exposed, that the spice poison continues to course through the galaxy. It is promoted by the Way of The Gods and their fanatical following in the GKOP, deceiving the people into becoming spice junkies. The recent unrest in Sthuthid Federation sends a clear message - spice leads to the collapse in the society. The Commonwealth must make a firm stand against spice. We may have protected our own people against, it but we mustn't stop. Our final victory would be, when no human being takes the spice.''

Free Daniel Crombie Group - Freedom For Humanity Group

''For years now, an innocent man is languishing in prison, for fighting to protect children of his world against the alien smack. Daniel Crombie has fought against Sthuthid spice pushers and was imprisoned for it.''

''Meanwhile, in the GKOP, a group of people were framed and prosecuted, simply because they are Humanists. The Watchers of The Eye were unjustly accused of uploading a virus and GKOP agents continue to prosecute the group. The proof of the supposed guilt was obtained with the aid of the aliens from Tian Technocracy. Make of it what you will.''

''Now already, there is talk that Humanist extremists were responsible for the bombing of the Jelthes station. Is Commonwealth going to do anything? We have bled for Commonwealth, we have supported the Commonwealth, so are we just going to be ignored?
    ''

    K'Krex Issue

A popular war hero, Illia Danilovna:

''There is a talk, that K'Krex are going to be shipped to their homeworld at the Commonwealth tax payers expense. We have lost a lot of good men in that war, now do you think they would like to hear, their children are paying for K'Krex first class tickets home? And what about that scandal in CAP? K'Krex are sending infiltrators? Why haven't we secured the planet and made sure they can't make a single move? For all we know, they are building warships in some secret underground facilities even as we speak.

And again, returning to the issue of sending them back. Wouldn't we be bringing the K'Krex Imperium information about our technological and military capabilities on the silver platter? Or are we going to make them all promise, they'll keep quiet on the number of our ships and weapon systems used? There are going to be K'Krex from the original invasion there, who know the layout of our Warp Network and our factions, for god's sake! Every bit of information we give them means thousands of our soldiers dead, when they invade again!
    ''

    Lalande Exploration

''My name is Allan Wode, I represent ''Humanity Frontier'' organization, seeking to spread our race among the stars. While I applaud the Commonwealth's colonization of Lalande, I can't help, but feel it was performed without proper regard for the danger alien species may present to our colonists.

We have encouraged and supported aliens of Lalande II, competitors and potential threat to our colonists in the system, should they awaken to nationalistic impulse and declare that Lalande rightfully belongs to them. We may laugh about such possibility now, but fortunes of races raise and wane and as Anarchists have proven, during the K'krex occupation of YZ Ceti, even low tech and military nation can be a dangerous thorn to a occupier, should guerrilla tactics be utilized. A program to integrate them and clearly assign a place in the Commonwealth is needed, but we should have started it from the first contact, to clearly indicate that interests of Commonwealth would come first in our relations.

The alien life form ''Jur'' from Lalande III wasn't studied for the potential threat it represents to the Commonwealth, instead resources were wasted to promote the alien's interests, over humans.

You gave up human rights to the Lalande IV, while we clearly had every right and ability to keep it. This is both an asset lost and an outpost for alien incursions.

We must have a firm hand and look with perspective for the future, if we are to leave something for our children. An easy deal today may mean devastating calamity in fifty years.

    Tian Technocracy - True Threat

"The fact is, we do not trust the Tian. Their current 'intervention' in the Sthuthid situation that we know almost nothing about is just the latest in a long line of suspicious actions. However, during the war with the K'Krex we could not afford to move against them. The threats to our new nation are many, and we need to be careful about how we handle them.

We will investigate these events and we will not abide belligerent actions from the Technocracy. However, we can right now ill afford a war with the Cygni Accords, especially without solid evidence.

The alien virus, on the other hand, is a clear and present threat to our security. We need any assistance we can get to quickly enhance our technology to make such attacks impossible, as we have found very disconcerting evidence of it's possible origins. Rest assured, Tian Technocracy did not build it."

    Reach for Truth

"Here, too, the investigation on the matter was put on hold due to a war that threatened our very existance. We have our suspicions - the Hive Mind was not the attacker, this has been confirmed, yet the attacker was clearly a biological entity without electronic equipment. I do not think I need to say any more. We will be pursuing this matter further."

    Anti-Spice Groups

"Spice is illegal in the Commonwealth, and will be in any new worlds that join the Commonwealth. We are aware of the dangers it poses to other societies that accept it, and we have informed the GKoP among others about its risks, even worked together to destroy illegal spice traders. However, they will not believe our warnings and there is not much more we can do other than hope that our negotiation and pressure bears fruit before it is too late."

Free Daniel Crombie Group - Freedom For Humanity Group

"The unfair persecution of humanist groups in other nations is a blemish on the honour of our species. Political asylum is available within the Commonwealth - of course only if they are actually innocent of any crimes. We do not tolerate the abuse of power by the government to silence their people, but we will not support terrorism or crime, no matter how just the cause. Truth and justice can and will win out in the end, but only if they use the right methods."

    K'Krex Issue

"True, deporting the K'Krex back to their empire is an option that has been under consideration. This is because otherwise we would be forever stuck keeping watch over a security risk, an entire system of beings who have every reason to hate and despise us. It is a breeding ground for radicals and extremists. Subjugating entire planets by force is impossible - we see proof of it in our own history. We cannot even control a single continent if its people are against us, let alone a system. And we cannot expect the K'Krex to trust us, just as we cannot expect humans to trust them.

The options are, therefore, making the system an eternal prison which will bleed our resources year after year, arranging for the K'Krex to leave human space, never to return under threat of war or genoicide. The last option will not be considered. We are human beings, and even if the xeno don't, we have our dignity and our morals that set us apart.

The K'Krex had a warp gate open directly to their Empire for quite a while. They will already know all the tactical information you listed. If it comes to another war, they will have to have somebody on this end to connect them to the Warp Network, which is exactly what forcing them to leave would prevent.

The K'Krex do not currently own any ships capable of warp travel. The Commonwealth Navy is securing the system. Even if they have began building a fleet, their resources are so limited it would take them decades to be able to match even a small portion of our forces, and they would have to do all this without leaving a trace. An unlikely threat, at best, especially if we intend to move them away and colonize the system for human habitation - a move which would pay back their transport costs and more."

    Lalande Exploration

"It is true that we did not come to the Lalande system as imperialistic conquerors, out to bleed the natives dry. That sort of an approach does not work in the long run. We found several primitive alien cultures and opened up trade relations with them for mutual profit. We also found a few individual units of technologically more advanced species and, again, proceeded to open negotiations with an open mind.

Why is this? First of all, the Commonwealth are not the aggressors. Just because the Hive Mind or the K'Krex attacked our species does not justify belligerence towards completely unrelated people. Especially primitive native races - do we wish to repeat the mistakes of our own history so badly? We will protect ourselves, we will make ourselves strong enough to face any outside threat, but we will not aggressively pursue the destruction of anyone whose genetic makeup differs from our own. Humans are moral beings, and every single living being deserves to be given a chance.

This may seem foolish at times. If we wait to be attacked before retaliating, we invite further damage and casualties upon ourselves. However, it is the only right way to make our place in this galaxy. We've seen a small part of it, and we already know there are much bigger fish out there. There are many, many alien species, so many that we've found multiple in the few systems we have explored. If we lash out against everyone we meet, we will end up destroyed ourselves.

I hope, that all the species of the galaxy will come to know humans as a fair, just species, if left in peace. But I also want them to know, that if provoked, our wrath will be terrible and our retribution swift."

"Though the war delayed our investigation, we have been concerned to note that the attack on Reach was done by a biological entity with no access to electronic warfare systems, unconnected to the Hive Mind.

We would be interested to hear your thoughts on the matter as surely you must be an expert on biological spacefaring beings. Rest assured, we fully intend to pursue the investigation until the culprit is found, and their motives and justification for their actions heard. We do not wish for further conflict or war, of course, but the lives and property lost mean we cannot abandon the issue before it has been settled, one way or another."

Your vision is painting a rather bleak picture of the future. Would it be possible to redirect some or all of our research about the artefacts to undertake an attempt to get a better understanding of the vision and the symbols used therein?
Besides these attempts, we have to prepare for this war torn future. At first, I were thinking on how to speed up the shipbuilding program we already have and came to the conclusion, that we are unable to do so, at least not without irrecoverably crippling our nation’s economy. At this point I stopped and realized that I was thinking way to small and short term. The kind of war the vision depicts will require more then just warships bristling with weapons to survive or even win. Such a war will require the ability to uphold the spirits of the people at home and the ability to win the hearts of neutral parties or even the enemies in addition to the more traditional tools of war like weapons and espionage.
While we are by no accounts bad with regard to these abilities, we would still need to significantly boost them while also further strengthening our military and intelligence. This led me to despair for a short time, until I remembered an old saying: “If we fight divided, we die divided, if we fight together, we will prevail”.
With this memory came an idea. If we could manage to assemble various nations into one side, we would both reduce the number of potential enemies and increase our odds to prevail. At first, the others might not be interested in such an undertaking, not believing the threat is real and thinking that this is just a power grab by us.
You, the Star Gods, on the other hand know better then anyone that this threat is real and that we have no interest in dominating or exploiting others and instead always support our allies. Therefore I would like to suggest that we try to explore the possibility of our nations becoming one. An amalgamation of the best traits our people have to offer.

    Is Dragonfire still playing?
If not, TGKOP will try to unofficially contact the Way of The Stars followers in the Aurelian Colonies and suggest a governmental coalition between Liberal-Pacifists and Freedom Party. One of the arguments for this coalition could be that the chances are good, that their freedom, liberty and peace are at jeopardy should the Humanists form the new government.

In fact the alien vessels come up quite quickly in the Wolf's databanks from an update it just recieved when it refitted last year. These ships match the profiles of the six large Kian Rou ships that picked up the mercenaries in Epislon Eridani. Apparently they needed exploration drive equipped ships for more than just leaving a system without a WSD.

    Captayn's Star I
Your scientists report that in your absence they have made substantial progress. The ruins they have been exploring apparently used to belong to a race of aliens known as the Reki'Che empire. This world was their primary staging point in the Captayn system. Your scientists aren't entirely sure of the specifics, but the ruins are the remains of an installation which manipulated the planet's gravity to form some kind of beacon to allow Reki'Che vessels to jump in from elsewhere. The scientists have only the vaguest idea of how something like that would even work. But what they do know is that the ruins are still partially functional. They believe that if they activate what's left the installation will create gravity null spot around Captayn I. If the WSD is placed in orbit there it will greatly speed up the formation of the warp line, and also allow incoming ships to jump directly into orbit of the planet. Of course the downside is that if the installation is ever disabled the WSD would be far too close to the star's gravity well to generate a warp line. And not only would the resulting overload destabilize the warp line, but likely also destroy the WSD.

Referendums in CAP & Aurelian Colonies

The mood remains uncertain in CAP as the independence sentiment is strong and people see trade and cooperation with Commonwealth, GKOP, EVRAZ and Cygni Accords as a viable alternative to merging with the Commonwealth. Many are waiting to hear the results of K'Krex infiltrators interrogation.

Stalemate in 61 Cygni:We understand why the Tian Technocracy is reluctant to expose the incarcerated Hive Mind drones to new technology. However what are the alternatives to trying to cure them? Either holding them there until they die due to old age, if this is even possible, or killing all of them.
Because of this, we believe that the most merciful course of action is to try and heal them. In order to limit the risk, the cure should first be administrated to a small but diverse group of drones. These drones should be isolated from the rest of the Hive Mind and ideally brought to another system to avoid complications.

Sel, Moon-Ship arrives to Ross 154

''Couldn't find a better time to visit, then in the middle of Humanist Conference.'' joked Docks as the entered the real-space in the Ross 154 Warp Gate.
''Well, we were invited, and I'd rather not go pissing-off Commonwealth, by putting off this meeting too much.'' replied Holnson.

''A lot of these people sound pretty crazy'' Alex Maine gestured to the screen, where the events at the meeting were being translated in real time.
''I'm one of ''those'' people, and shouldn't the fact, that we can observe their high-security meeting using alien technology, prove at least some points, they are making?'' There was a hint of anger in Tamiko's voice, but it quickly went away, to her normal reserved tone.

Ivan Pastushenko shrugged as he finished his bottle:
''It's not like we can do much about a race, that has ships like this. If they really were hostile to us, as many Humanists believe, they probably can just send a dozen of Battle Moons and wipe us all out. Ergo, they are indifferent at worst and we shouldn't worry about them.''

Star Gods on Hive Mind Cure

''As far as we understand the will of Stars, the blessed device they have provided will contact the shared consciousness of the Hive Mind and remove the taint of insanity from it. Afterwards we expect that the cured Hive Mind will release all ''assimilated'', who express desire for individualism. Unfortunately, for this method to be effective we must target large number of the Hive Mind drones, so their shared consciousness is at sufficiently high threshold. Therefore we can't test the cure on a small sample of Hive Mind population''.

The Tian Technocracy has announced they will commence a new series of talks with Star Gods and the use of cure may yet be allowed, under proper observation.

    Terran Federation

The Constancy Party makes a statement regarding the Sumus scandal:

''This is a simple case of misunderstanding. It is true we have offered a substantial amount of jobs in security sector to the Sumus immigrants. However, it is only natural as their talents are most suited for crime prevention. The privacy laws in Terran Federation allow for surface telepathic scanning to ensure public safety and deep telepathic probes against suspects in criminal investigations. This is a practice that has led to low crime rate, despite many risk factors we have, such as overpopulation and resource scarcity.

The Sumus have assimilated into Earth's culture, but there was no conspiracy or government. It was a natural process, amplified by the Empathic nature of Sumus. We often forget, that unlike us, Sumus are short-lived species, that adapt and change quickly. We assimilate in generations, they do it in years. The claims, that we employed ''conditioning'' techniques are simply preposterous.
